:siren: Sorry guys, the official server is now down. HOWEVER, my server is now running! :siren: Okay, to join the server, you're going to need the modpack which is HERE so you don't get bad packet ID errors. And, once that's downloaded, you'll want to join on 343nmc.no-ip.org:25565, don't worry, it's not very laggy. Thank you. [release] BuildCraft is a new game mod aiming at allowing users to build advanced structures and mechanisms. Minecraft by Mojang AB Code by: SpaceToad Pixels by: plashal Follow the BuildCraft development live on Facebook! BUILDCRAFT 2.2.0 WORLDS CONTEST I'm opening a contest for BuildCraft 2.2.0 - for world creation. The purpose is to create a world using BuildCraft featuring as many things as possible. You may use TMI to get that done. You may use custom world, or build around that one which conveniently offers a huge oil deposit in the center. The 5 best worlds will be put in download on media fire from BuildCraft OP. On top of that, if you have specific needs to achieve certain mechanism, you will get dedicated attention. I'm not saying that I'll implement anything, but I might fix a hole here and there if you demonstrate certain needs! Not sure how long it will run, probably around a week or two. You can submit multiple times the same world if you're making changes. Will give a deadline in a couple of days. Send me your creation through a mediafire link in PM! Don't hesitate to describe what to look at - video is ideal but text does it just as well. Couple of additional details - the buildcraft configuration must be the default one, no other mod can be used. IMPORTANT - INSTALLATION For anyone that has trouble installing BuildCraft on Windows, look-up the new installation assistant located at the beginning of the install section. That should help you with most of the problems. WARNING Minecraft 1.9 is going to be released soon. BuildCraft, as well as most MCP-based mods, is not likely to be updated to this version before a couple of weeks. Don't upgrade Minecraft if you want to carry on playing BuildCraft and others in the meantime! REPORTING PROBLEMS Read the "Common Problems and Resolutions" a few lines below. If nothing fixed your issue, follow the directions on how to report. Do not send me a pm with your problem - it will be systematically ignored. Again, do follow the instructions on how to report on "Common Problems and Resolutions". I will not answer to a single support request that doesn't follow that procedure. WARNING BuildCraft 2.2.0 is released as beta. It contains additional code that will break dependency with other mods, and may be instable. For anything else than testing, you should use the stable release 1.8.1.1. Here's a few videos showing this last version. Other tutorials are available from the BuildCraft YouTube channel. This is the environment that I use to develop and test BuildCraft SMP features. In addition to that, I am personally installing and maintaining the official BuildCraft server binaries there (currently BuildCraft 1.7.3.4 and 2.1.1), making support much easier. If you have some extra dollars, you can become a BuildCraft supporter and lobbyist!. You'll find under the spoiler button below areas of interest for the next major release. Things are likely to get in eventually, but if you want to, you can lobby for your area of interest. To do so, when you make a donation, send me an e-mail or a mp telling me which of the following you would like to vote for. I'll be sending preliminary results in the next few days. At the beginning of each release development cycle, I'll pick up the area that got the most donation into the highest priority. Don't hesitate to be specific about what you'd [L.1] More builders capabilities [L.2] More circuit capabilities (detectors, counters...) [L.3] More SMP capabilities [L.4] More powering capabilities (for faster machines, alternative to redstone current...) For one this, ModLoader, ModLoaderMP and MCP needs to be updated. Then there may be outstanding issues in BuildCraft related to the update that may need some time to fix. Finally, Notch and other people schedule may conflict with mine. If update happen in the middle of a two weeks vacation, thing will not be up and running before some days after I come back! Generally speaking, do not assume quick update. Keep a copy of your old minecraft versions so that you can play with mods that have not been updated for longer. What's going to be coming in the mod next? BuildCraft is aimed at being an open project. Check out the sourceforge page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/buildcraft/ for more information. In particular, the ticket mechanism lists the forthcoming features and open bugs, along with planned releases. Could you implement <name feature here> Check out the ticket on the sourceforge list - it may be already registered. Otherwise, feel free to suggest. Also, if you want to be part of the development team, don't hesitate to send a patch along. Could you make sure that BuildCraft is compatible with <name your mod here> It'll do my best, but there's just an infinity of mods implement stuff using an infinity of techniques for doing various stuff, and while BuildCraft tries to relies on foundations as solid as possible, it can not take into account all possible interaction of any mod - that is in the absence of strong compatibility design rules. Some very widely used mods will be considered though. Known generic incompatibilities introduced by BuildCraft will be considered as well. However, if you would like to work on a fix, feel free to send a patch along. I will gladly include reasonable fixes. Note that BuildCraft should be widely compatible with any mod that does not change minecraft files, as it itself doesn't by design. Can I make a video? Sure - go ahead! Will the be ported to Bukkit? Check out http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/382599-173-modloadermp-for-craftbukkit-and-canary! Why aren't you answering to my post / private message? There's A LOT of them. I just don't have time to answer to everything. But I do read them all and consider all suggestions / bug reports. Check out the source forge website for more info on what has been schedule yet. Common Problems and Resolutions
I have problems in SMP SMP is probably the most challenging environment. The most usual problem is a difference between the buildcraft server and client configuration. Check that your .minecraft/buildcraft/config/buildcraft.cfg is the exact same as the server one, in particular with regards to the block and items ids. Other than that, you may want to check the power packages on mossycobble. I'm maintaining the BuildCraft installations there so at least you know that the server is fine and I may be in a better position to provide help. The new engine doesn't work for me, I don't see them / can't orient them Have you installed BuildCraft 2.0.0? Have you installed the Energy part of the mod? Have you specified the power framework in .minecraft/buildcraft/config/buildcraft.cfg the following way? power.framework=buildcraft.energy.PneumaticPowerFramework Have a look at the following video - may give some additional help: I moved from BuildCraft 2.0.1 to 2.1.0 and things doesn't work anymore. You need an updated version of Minecraft Forge, 1.0.5 or later. However, there's a file that has been removed there, so you need to start with a fresh Minecraft again. I can't change the orientation of engines, or iron / wooden pipes Try using a wrench: I got an exception "BlockMarker has interface lb as super class" Probably something more specifically like:
java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: class buildcraft.builders.BlockMarker has interface lb as super class at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassCond(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at mod_BuildCraftBuilders.ModsLoaded(mod_BuildCraftBuilders.java:14) at ModLoader.init(ModLoader.java:819) at ModLoader.AddAllRenderers(ModLoader.java:183) at th.<init>(th.java:60) at th.<clinit>(th.java:9) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.a(SourceFile:318) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:716) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
This is because you installed the server packages on the client. If you're a player, you only need the client packages, even to connect to a server. Creating a pulsar / clock makes the game lagging Alternate redstone is known to be lagging because of light effects. You can either turn current.continus=true int the buildcraft.cfg file to use continuous current, or switch to using engines. I installed Core but can't do anything Core doesn't provide anything in itself. You need to install Core + Transport for pipes, and Core + Factory for mining devices and automatic crafting bench. I'm getting a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: mod_BuildCraftCore error More probably a backtrace like this:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: mod_BuildCraftCore at BuildCraftFactory.initialize(Unknown Source) at mod_BuildCraftFactory.ModsLoaded(Unknown Source) at ModLoader.init(ModLoader.java:830) at ModLoader.AddAllRenderers(ModLoader.java:124) at tc.<init>(tc.java:60) at tc.<clinit>(tc.java:9) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.a(SourceFile:312) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:683) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: mod_BuildCraftCore at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
This means that you only installed Transport, Factory or / and Builders. You need to install the Core mod if you want to run any of those. I don't see the gears when crafting them, or textures are wrong If your're using MCpatcher or MyCraft, it's known not to work properly. You need to install the mod manually. Note that gears will only appear if they are required by an installed mod. If you're just installing Core + Transport for example, you will not get gears as gears are not required by pipes crafting recopies. I'm having a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: buildcraft/transport/TilePipe error If you're Ubuntu, this is a known problem in the drag&drop Archive manager. You need to either use fastjar or manually decompress the archive, add the files and recompress. I've got a conflicting id This is typically raising a trace saying (among other things) "Slot <some number> is already occupied by <object name>". Edit .minecraft/buildcraft/config/buildcraft.cfg. FYI, here's the values that I use for e.g. integration with Industrial Craft:
goldenPipe.id=150 diamondPipe.id=151 frame.id=152 woodenPipe.id=153 quarry.id=159 ironPipe.id=155 stonePipe.id=156 autoWorkbench.id=157 drill.id=158 miningWell.id=160
Minecraft crashes when I load an old world with a new version of BuildCraft Early versions of BuildCraft (prior to 1.5_01.4) didn't have a BuildCraft.cfg file. Hence from one set of mod to the other, block id may change. Starting 1.5_01.4, this file gets generated and will be usable onwards. Try a new world. Can you create pipes and stuff without a problem? If that's the case, you're probably in this situation. If you world was created after 1.5_01.4 (included), just get the old .minecraft/config/BuildCraft.cfg file. If you world was created before 1.5_01.4, then first upgrade to 1.5_01.4, run Minecraft, save the generated BuildCraft.cfg file, then upgrade to the latest BuildCraft and re-use that file. Note that 1.5_01.4 requires a 1.5_01 version of Minecraft to run upon. Note that starting BuildCraft 1.6.6.4, the property mechanism changed, everything is now stored under .minecraft/buildcraft/config/buildcraft.cfg. Alternatively, you can guess the number of blocks. Here's the block values that come from 1.5_01.3 in the absence of any other mod installed:
goldenPipe.id=252 diamondPipe.id=251 marker.id=154 frame.id=247 woodenPipe.id=255 quarry.id=246 ironPipe.id=253 stonePipe.id=254 drill.id=249 cheatBlock.id=150 autoWorkbench.id=248 miningWell.id=250
None of the above fixed my problem First, check the problems currently considered for the next bugfix release from http://sourceforge.net/p/buildcraft/tickets/milestone/bugfix/. If your problems seems to be the same as something already listed there, there's nothing more to do but to wait for the next release. Otherwise, start from a fresh install, put in your minecraft.jar the ModLoader only, and drop the three BuildCraft file in the mods directory. Use the manual procedure (no GUI/automatic installer). Then add your others mods one by one to identify the incompatibility. The re-start from a fresh install with only ModLoader + 4 BuildCraft mods + incompatible mod. If this is still failing, report on this thread where and how it fails. If the problem is a crash, on top of the above, you will need to run Minecraft directly from the command line to get a workable crash report, or backtrace. Please have a look at this post to learn how to do that. Reporting crashes without the information extracted from this procedure is just useless. Don't forget to provide as much context information as you can, what were you doing, what was happening, etc. Also, if the problem occurs with Minecraft + BuildCraft only, sharing the world on which you had the problem, the config/BuildCraft.cfg file and the precise procedure to reproduce will help a lot. To simplify, copy / paste the following in your report so that you make sure you didn't forget anything: Please specify the version of the mod you're using, as reported by .minecraft/ModLoader.txt, ad well as the operating system you're running on. Operating System: BuildCraft version: BuildCraft mods installed: Other mods installed: Link to world for download (if applicable): Contents of the ModLoader.txt / server.log file: Does the problem happend only on SSP, SMP, both: Backtrace (if applicable): How BuildCraft was installed: Description of the problem, including pictures and videos if possible: Thank you all for your support & input. If you're able, post images of your quarry fields and BuildCraft creations; We'd love to see them! notice: if you do not like the graphics, fine; make a new banner, make it dope; send it to me [via pm & dont forget the image link]; i'll post it up & its as simple as that. How Do I Use? 1. cut the code under the banner you like. 2. paste code into the signature input field located in the 'User Control Panel' (top, left); and finaly, Thank you for supporting BuildCraft! Uno. I guess people liked my factories I made, so I decided why not make a full thread on the mod. Here's a video of a iron tool factory I made using this mod (Also used redpower but is possible without it): Post creations you've made, and videos, I'll put them in the OP. This is my first Minecraft mod thread, needs improvements? Tell me.
This is a very nice thread you have here, birthday boy! (User was banned for this post ("This "birthday" stuff is out of hand. Take it down a few notches." - Seiteki))
This is a very nice thread you have here, birthday boy!
It's not his birthday?
It actually is in about 6 days, but, well, ever since may when I became a gold member "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" pms every day and in every fucking posts saying happy birthday, fuck it's annoying.
Don't worry about that birthday boy, they are all just wishing you a very very happy 10th birthday! (User was banned for this post ("This "birthday" stuff is out of hand. Take it down a few notches." - Seiteki))
okay for fucks sake I'm trying to make a proper thread here only to be spammed with shit "birthday boy" comments. fuck, pascall, starpluck, garry, someone do something please.
wow.. this looks fantastic,
Cool mod
Yes. Heh, using better than wolves I'm going to make a automatic food cooker like in that "Minecraft Forge Explanation" video..
Well, I want this to work, but no mods ever load for me. Great op btw.
I made a automated flint factory using buildcraft, better than wolves and redpower once It produced its own gravel using a glitch (which works in 1.7.3)
Looks good. (User was banned for this post ("This "birthday" stuff is out of hand. Take it down a few notches." - Seiteki))
I'm gonna make a breakfast machine with this, film it, and put the music over it. Time to figure out how this works and get a screen recorder.
Redid my factory, my only current problem is that it needs a player to hold right click on a lever for the gravel generators to work, not even a RedPower timer seems to do the trick Holding the lever for 10 seconds generated 9 stacks of flint though
Dammit, I really want to try this but I know Notch will release an update as soon as I install it.
Dammit, I really want to try this but I know Notch will release an update as soon as I install it.
Install it so we can get 1.8!
I really wanna get this but I'll probably wait until 2.1.0 is out with oil pumps
Install it so we can get 1.8!
No. *trollface*
Dude this looks pretty sweet [editline]19th August 2011[/editline] but not as sweet as the birthday cake I'm making you is gonna be (User was banned for this post ("This "birthday" stuff is out of hand. Take it down a few notches." - Seiteki))
Damn, this mod looks nice.
So I installed it (and much to the chagrin of many no update was magically released), and I've gotta say it's pretty damn neat. I just finished making a quarry with automatic crafting tables/furnaces so that it automatically smelts iron and gold, and crafts ingots and lapis into blocks before depositing them in their respective chests. Dirt and gravel are automatically sent to a lava pit (because fuck that shit, shit's useless) and any flint that I happen to receive is sent to its own chest. Perhaps at a later date if I decide to make a mob trap on this map I'll have an automatic crafting table turn the flint into arrows, as well as combine an infinite sand generator and the gunpowder created by the trap to automatically make TNT (assuming they don't fix that glitch before I get around to it).
Infinite sand generator? TNT automatically making TNT I NEED TO KNOW THE WAYS! [editline]20th August 2011[/editline] Also how do I make the gravel using the glitch?
Selling the manual for this mod is just a sign of a greedy asshole in my opinion.
Most modders are content to just deny all redistribution in packs and force everybody that wants it to click on their FOUR (deliberately seperated for no reason other than $) adfly links. Selling a pdf manual is laughably pitiful. As of yet I've still got far more use out of BTW hoppers than these buildcraft pipes.
It's a great mod, but that's it, how the modder present it sucks, and the info is too much clutered, the whole thing of it divided to four links is just stupid and uncomfortable, plus that guide shit is just stupid, I guess no one buys it, because a quick search in google gives you the 1.0 version in PDF for free.

Redstone didn't have a guide by notch
Redstone is easier to understand.

As for the guide, I just dicked around with it as well as watched a few youtube videos, and now I've got it all pretty much figured out except for builders.
