The combat sure, but you can't say the environments, visuals or story are bad.
Yeah, but I'm not gonna give two shits if the controls and combat are horrific. The mission design and environments are gorgeous yes. If this game had TERA's combat it would be one of the best MMOs ever. [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] If they are seriously planning to release it in its current state its gonna bomb and will become a F2P in 2 months.
I have 4 TSW weekend beta codes to get rid of, PM me for one.

If they don't improve the combat drastically this game will totally fail... And funcom really can't afford another failed mmo :v:

They locked the mouse strictly to camera and made the standard keys of MMOs (1-8) as your weapon uses and powerups. I find that incredibly stupid, especially because of how confusing it gets to try and move and shoot with a gun. Seriously if I want to move and shoot in TSW, I have to press and hold down mouse 2 while moving, press tab to switch targets while press 1 to shoot. Who thought that was a good fucking idea?

Finally got around to playing this and I must say that this has a lot of potential. They just need to put a lot more work into it. At the current build, I would only play it if it was free.

How big is it? Worth downloading?
Mine is 26.8gb... Don't know where all that came from but I must say that some of the visuals are pretty amazing.

Well as I'm reading on the forums they are working on the combat and the character creation tool Beta key: 8QJWGK7VYUEMMS6N

Yeah character creation was lame...I couldn't figure out how to change the color of items. Combat was really stiff and I had no way to dodge attacks except just walking backwards...
I was once interested in Secret World, and still am to a limited degree, but once I heard EA was co-publishing I just couldn't bring myself to stay enthusiastic. If buying The Secret World means I have to give even a single penny to EA, then i'll have to abandon my previous aspirations to consider getting it. So sad that they didn't choose a less soul-devouring publisher, but at least they didn't sign a deal with the Beelzebob.

TERA kinda sucks too man. the combat was really cool, yeah, but I still got bored of it a lot faster than I did TSW. The biggest thing that puts me off about TSW is how frustratingly hard it is to solo. And most of the other CBers (not weeked beta players) are really dumb. EA strictly publishes TSW, they don't own Funcom (at least not yet), as such they have no real influence in the game

I think that's what made it boring, because all you did is just fight the same NPCs over and over again. I think if you had TERA's combat with TSW's mission design/environments, it'd be one hell of an amazing MMO.

Also I find TSW's intro cinematic of how you gained the magic abilities a little weird. It reminds me of this:

Because if ea is co-publishing the game, that means it will get alot more attention. which means alot more money, which means a better game

The concept, the way they do the story with cinematics, the voice acting, and the settings and areas are fucking amazing. The gameplay, is absolutely just garbage. This game had a lot of potential, but fucked up big time with horrible gameplay that gets boring after like 30 minutes.
I only managed to try it for an hour or so but everything just feels rather poor. Animations, ui and combat are all cringe worthy are my first impressions. I guess I expected something better but really those running animations put me off right from the beginning.
i dunno man has funcom ever made a good game like are we really surprised TSW is mediocre?
i dunno man has funcom ever made a good game like are we really surprised TSW is mediocre?
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is one of my all time favorite games and it's made by them.
After playing the beta on this game, i felt somewhat happy but after a while... it felt a bit disappointed... now i am bored of the game since The Savage Coast is not completely finished, and most of the quests in that area is bugged and the monsters are way too hard... From now on, i'm begin to think funcom is not a great game developer, as sadly most of their games don't get much attention and also shunned by their rocky launches and bugged games. Now after this game... i do believe that people will avoid it like it's the plague.
i dunno man has funcom ever made a good game like are we really surprised TSW is mediocre?
Anarchy online was fucking badass, get out. Here's me just hoping it's true.
applied to the beta as a Templar, worth it?
I got a code for the beta this weekend and am downloading it now but... after seeing what tera did to me, I just don't know about MMOs anymore...
