That was completely unexpected. Heh, Marphy, you closed the circle of the "HL games". The DC port was the last one who left "behind" (Decay was "ported" with sucesss not much ago, and Uplink has been "released" within Sven Co-op). Also, the DC models are very interesting, they looks like a mix between the default models and the HD ones. EDIT: *Forget it, i just looked in the mod pics that doesnt have multiplayer.*
I eagerly await these "changes".
Half-Life is such an old game. We want EP3, not unreleased versions of old games.
Half-Life is such an old game. We want EP3, not unreleased versions of old games.
uh-oh Marphy, he either realized you work at Valve and just dug up an old folder with the Dreamcast stuff on it instead of making video games or is a idiot
Half-Life is such an old game. We want EP3, not unreleased versions of old games.
Yeah, Marphy, what the hell? Where is Episode Three? Why are you taking so long on it? :downs:
Yeah, Marphy, what the hell? Where is Episode Three? Why are you taking so long on it? :downs:
And finish Black Mesa while you're at it!
On a more related note:
The mod you are trying to view is currently awaiting authorisation. Authorisation can take a couple of days during which time a site administrator will check the mod
HNNNNNG, come on, MDB! I need this!
I had this game for my Dreamcast, too bad it broke last xmas :(
I had this game for my Dreamcast, too bad it broke last xmas :(
how could you have it for dreamcast when it was never released
Half-Life is such an old game. We want EP3, not unreleased versions of old games.
Oh wow. [editline]15th January 2012[/editline] I for one absolutely love it when unreleased content manages to see the light of day. Valve tends to scrap so much cool shit that it makes it almost like its an entirely new release.
how could you have it for dreamcast when it was never released
I imagine he means that his Dreamcast broke, not the actual game. It was never released, but it was leaked IIRC, so you could still play it on a DC if you had the means to.
i've played it, although i got bored of hour long loading screens during tram
how could you have it for dreamcast when it was never released
Burned the leak to a disc.
Wow, can't wait to play this! I've always been interested in the Dreamcast port and also the alpha/beta of Half-life.
Burned the leak to a disc.
true, I remember that Dreamcast was one of the systems that had no piracy lock
Awesome work. I had no idea the dreamcast version was so different. Not too big a fan of that gordon and gina model lol but I'll play it all the same.
Half-Life is such an old game. We want EP3, not unreleased versions of old games.
Then piss off to the EP3 thread thaaanks
true, I remember that Dreamcast was one of the systems that had no piracy lock
No it did, but they found an exploit in the hardware. Later models fixed this, and cannot play burned games.
The Mod DB profile has been created, although it seems it may take a day or two to be authorized. Anyway, the mod is now released and download links have been added to the OP. More (and better) mirrors will be added as they appear. Enjoy!
There was a DC version in the works? cool. Is it basically the same maps as the PC version? Other than cosmetics, whats different? If there is nothing too big I probably wont bother digging around for my DC to play it.
I would totally play this. If I own Half-Life of course, I bought HL: Source and that fucker don't autosave, oh silly me.
I would totally play this. If I own Half-Life of course, I bought HL: Source and that fucker don't autosave, oh silly me.
why would you get hl:s in the first place
why would you get hl:s in the first place
not everyone realizes that the mods and all for the original don't work with HL:S, one reason or another. Some just think it's the 'better' version. etcetera, etcetera. I got mine free from the Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition at least. :v:
ok uh it's kinda buggy Marphy
Downloading the fucker now
yeah you're missing the map where you get the suit or something because it keeps crashing when trying to load it
yeah you're missing the map where you get the suit or something because it keeps crashing when trying to load it
I've run through the game four times without any hitches. What error message do you get? The map where you get the HEV suit is "c1a0d". You can try loading this level directly from the console with the map command.

Download mode, activate!
My tram ride gets stuck here.
Are you still stuck there? If you tried that part more than once, did the problem happen again? If the tram ride proves to be too problematic, you can skip straight to the Anomalous Materials chapter with "map c1a0" in the console. I didn't change anything that would affect how the levels would function. In fact, the unaltered Dreamcast maps are already in PC-readable format. It was the rest of the game that proved to be a real challenge to port. That said, I would like to point out the Steam version of Half-Life is very, very finicky when it comes to sensitive or taxing issues on the engine like physics interactions with moving brushes. It's not entirely inconceivable to believe a minor player collision hiccup inside the tram could cause a missed loading point. Hopefully it's not recurring, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to justify any bugs in my work, but the base game itself is not entirely devoid of issues that may affect the mod. Hence, should you encounter a bug, don't think it's crazy to try the exact same thing once again in the hope of a different result. It could work! If not, please report any and all additional issues here or by pm. I'll try my best to handle all of them.
Also Marphy and I realized that some old HL saves may fuck up you game. A lot. If it appears that all the maps have been played through already (e.g. elevators already used, pickups gone, glass broken, scripted events already happened,) your old save is conflicting. It made for some very interesting chatlogs. Just an FYI.
