Imagine making a levers puzzle in your fortress for an adventurer that leads to a treasure chamber with a suit of adamantine armour and assorted weapons. :)
And a single caged honey badger with a pressure plate to release it right by the only way in.
Devlog
I kind of want to "cheat" by bringing in tons of adventurers to leave a ton of extra goods on my new embark area.
Perhaps we should do a succession game after the new update hits? That way we wouldn't have to worry about breaking anything from the update? And maybe we could make a list, while we're at it?
Any advice on how to adventure mode? All I've done is the normal DF
Ask random people for quests, hire followers and don't run around outside at night or the boogiement will get you (they attack out of nowhere in swarms). Ask peasants to let you sleep inside their houses or you will get thrown out if you try without permission.
Right, I'm bored of this fortress, I used DF hack to see that the magma was 100z down, and there's little coal. Just gonna finish my towers, then it'll be time to drop 1/3 of the fortress population off my bridge down into my drymoat, and see what happens. Then I can see if I can find it in adventure mode. (this one's only 3 years in) Oh god, accidently unpaused when using DF-Reveal. Time to unleash the circus.
Any advice on how to adventure mode? All I've done is the normal DF
Strangle zombies and throw endless amounts of sand around in a desert

Normal reveal doesn't reveal the circus, reveal [sp]hell[/sp] reveals it but doesn't let you unpause.
Oh shoot what one of my children went on a tantrum because he got annoyed by flies and started a war by pushing half the Human caravan off the bridge into my moat filled with spikes. I'm going to make that fucker face the siege alone this is unacceptable!
This is the true essence of Dwarf Fortress. NOW DO IT ALL AGAIN
Definitely one of my more interesting playthroughs. Most of the time I'll just get raided by goblins or some such other monstrosity and have a bunch of dwarves die, then all will be lost because of an ensuing tantrum spiral. Sasquatches... never had that happen before. New fortress is called Boatsmoistened. We live in a foul, alligator-infested freshwater swamp. We build cups. And chairs.
Is this supposed to happen? [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] The pieces of meat, that is. [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] Also, what:
my dwarven caravan and laison never arrived. its mid spring now, with no word from them. Could it have been due to the human caravan that arrived later and stayed until mid spring? or any other reason?

I'm considering doing a fictionalized Let's play ala Boatmurdered and Gemclod, although I'm not sure how often I'm going to be able to update due to my current workload. Alright embarked in an Evil biome. Hoping to get some actual gameplay done before I make the first post about Scorchedsmith [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/1349.png[/img_thumb] Sounds like a fun place.
Just taking a stroll in DF. (Adventure mode) Suddenly a wild bowman appeared and shot me in the head.. *dead* I was only 2 minutes in.
I am wondering, if you were to mine out an entire z level, would it cave in the whole map?
You can't mine the edges of the map.

Devlog, nothing particularly interesting this time.
The zoomed-in site maps had screwed up travel times a bit, so I adjusted that. I fixed a problem where the soldiers had become difficult to get into your party because of their high skills... conversation skills. It's odd when a high flattery skill leads to somebody talking down to you. Cleaned up some problems with furniture and coins being doubled by the map maintenance stuff, and that generally happening in the bandit camps.

:v:
Cats.

Just found a cavern covered in normal green grass.
Made a new world to mess around on and found that there is a giant one eyed badger jungle titan that only kills elves I like this world :v:
Whats the name of that visualizer ?
Overseer.
I just made a new character in adventurer mode. His name is Maggot Maggotmaggots the clam-anus of beetles.

Decided to generate a new world that's miserably cold and is plagued with constant precipitation. Untei Jexnidi. What I got is a monstrosity: a freezing clusterfuck made entirely of ice-capped mountains and endless tundra plains that's ravaged by hellstorms of snow on a daily basis that you can't stand out in for more than 30 seconds without sustaining severe frostbite and dying. There's hardly any life to be found anywhere. Also, buckets do not exist here. Apparently everybody was too busy freezing to death to invent them.
Ok My first real enemy, goblin snatcher Fortunately for me he got trapped in a cage. I made an animal stockpile, so he would be in a separate room, but my dorf took the cage and I can't seem to find What should I do now? [editline]27th January 2012[/editline] Ok, found the cage How can I kill a prisoner if I don't have any weapons [editline]27th January 2012[/editline] Damn dwarfes are scary A group of recruits have punctured both lungs and shattered a skull of a goblin with their bare hands
Finally really understanding the game, I feel like I actually have a lot of control over my dorfs now. The only thing I hate is the building mechanics and how they're so fucking stupid when it comes to placing things in the right order. Anyone got a method of making a wall a few tiles high without it being the most painfully laborious job ever? [editline]27th January 2012[/editline] As if literally the very first block I mined on a new embark would cause a tiny cave-in and give one of my two miners a major injury. That's just perfect.
