The voice acting in this game is very acceptable, but the character model and animation quality is just, well, yeah.
I've never played an X game before, are there any specific games that X is similar to?

I told my fucking trader to sell that place those Energy Cells in the beginning of the campaign. He finally arrived, but isn't doing squat. And now it says he has no Energy Cells, though I never sold them.
So far I've had very little in the way of issues. The only problem i've had is some slight audio quality issues, no FPS problems or texture issues, though the character models are pretty fuckugly. I do see the issue with stations though, they seem largely useless, in reality just a menu that takes a longer time to use. Maybe if they added more life to them, they'd be more immersive, but right now their pretty cold places.
I want to know who at Egosoft decided that I can't use buttons on my joystick to fire weapons. The game will only let me assign axes to trigger it (like my throttle) What kind of retardation is that?
The only issue I have at the moment is the horrible frame rate, I have a 7970 and I'm getting like 18-25fps on a medium setting
Is there a fix or bypass method for the part of the tutorial where you have to load your freighter with 100 energy cells?
Also i've noticed. I've played the campaign for an hour now, and it's boring as fuck, like terribad boring, yes I know it's a tutorial stage, but it's frustrating as shit.
I found out that the game didn't run the directx redist, after I ran it from the games dictionary It seemed to have fixed the animation errors
Is there a fix or bypass method for the part of the tutorial where you have to load your freighter with 100 energy cells?
Wait, so is it just broken?
Wait, so is it just broken?
No, it isn't, it just takes ages to complete since the TL is REALLY dumb and slow.
jesus christ how terrifying
No, it isn't, it just takes ages to complete since the TL is REALLY dumb and slow.
how long am I supposed to sit there?
how long am I supposed to sit there?
It took mine about ten minutes from giving the order til it finished docking and transferring shit. I just explored and did a mission while it was docking.
so I was wondering why my freighter hadn't shown up at the energy plant after like 30 minutes and went to find it :suicide:
Someone uploaded save files for anyone having trouble with the energy cell transport mission. http://steamcommunity.com/app/2870/discussions/0/648811852259647737/ It is saved right before the ship pulls in and starts to trade.
So I haven't played X games in the past due to the intense learning curve, but I was wondering if this game is worth it to someone who enjoyed the freespace games and In general enjoys space exploration.
The campaign is utterly obliterating my computer, I have less than 10 FPS most the time when I'm on campaign, however freeplay runs at least five times better, only problem is getting a ship is utterly impossible, and you can't really trade using the skunk. Doing 13k credit missions 300 times to get the money needed for a ship doesn't really interest me either. I've been completely let down so far, I've found anytime I forget that I actually want to gain things and instead just kinda roam around I enjoy myself, but as soon as I remember it's an X game where I should be gaining stuff and such, I'm let down since I've never gotten to do that yet and I've played for nearly five hours now. After two hours in the campaign I'd not even gained a defense technician because I didn't have enough money for one (Could be my bad, but the tutorial is seriously attrocious). I just want to trade :c
So I haven't played X games in the past due to the intense learning curve, but I was wondering if this game is worth it to someone who enjoyed the freespace games and In general enjoys space exploration.
With the complaints about optimization and bugs, unless your PC is able to handle the game, I'd suggest waiting until Egosoft fixes it.
ok so devs are just allowed to ship out a broken game at launch to paying customers. ok sure.
Yeah, it sucks, but with Egosoft it's a double edged sword. They're known for doing shit launches, but they're also known for updating their games with a bunch of fixes and new content. The game will be pretty fucked for about a week but then be great for years to come. Speaking of bugs, my plot-given Rahanas just queues up orders to sell the 100 energy cells, and just wants to follow me everywhere. Also, the trade screen says his cargo is 135k/130k. Hopefully when a patch comes out for whatever bug this is, he can be recovered from this state.
So I've gotten past the boring bit, about 2 hours in. It does take FOREVER for the cargo ship to unload, but to be fair they do include that in a warning. Some graphical glitches here and there, nothing crazy. Starting to grow on me.
Also, my gripes with the interface right now: - The fade-delay in the radial menus, as well as the animation when opening the side monitor, gets really annoying after a few times. - It could really do with some more hotkeys, like for property menu, dock, etc. It doesn't seem like either of these would be difficult to patch, but then again they're probably busy with all the technical issues. Tweaks can wait for a bit at least. My other niggles: - Nice that you can see who is on a platform, but it doesn't tell you where they are - have to hunt around. - As another guy said, platforms often feel a bit deserted, and the 'guy fixing gas tank' has been copy pasta'd in way too many places not to notice. - Fodder ships during highways, obviously these are more things to slipstream behind but it feels silly when you realise these ships never entered the highway, nor will they leave it. The city traffic ships are okay because they come out of ports and go into other ones, which at least allows for suspension of disbelief. - Hunting for info points might get annoying after a while. But right now it's pretty much rewarding me for idly flying around looking at all the geometry, which I did in Terran stations in X3 anyway, so no problem. - Escort missions need some reworking - the mark was flying toward the station at a cringeworthy speed, and then the game spawned 5 pirates from different angles. By the time I intercepted one, the freighter was destroyed by the others. - The speed of ships in general is pretty leisurely, like they're flying through treacle or something. Consequently the fights don't feel like they have a lot of momentum. - Speaking of combat, the Skunk has ludicrously strong shields considering it's the first shield you get. It barely took a dent from fighting, so I never really felt threatened. - Also, it seems like turrets on capital ships don't lead (!!!). I decided to try out shooting at a capital ship and noticed moving in a straight line was enough to dodge all the bullets.

All other naggings i completely agree with.
Still can't find the 1920x1080 option. Instead I get these. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/T4CSmBg.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/rJNl25a.jpg[/img_thumb]
WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR FACE [t]http://i.minus.com/ibjf15B3oE57oG.jpg[/t] OH JESUS CHRIST [t]http://i.minus.com/ibcsZNP1h2nTWq.jpg[/t] Welcome to the liveliest bar in the universe, "we're having fun guys no I swear it" edition [t]http://i.minus.com/in9xObiqV0IsU.jpg[/t] my experience with X Rebirth has been a strange mixture of extreme "meh"ness and pure fascination
Looks like the last patch killed my savegame or something else. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/451779463370082943/10F16115C794A4FE801D4B2C62B07982EF3AAB1A/[/t] Can't move, only open the main menu.
Can Teladi even reproduce with argons/terrans?
I encountered several female engineers, drone dealers and mechanics which all spout the same "Those stinkin Teladi are gross", so I don´t believe there is any argon chick would want a dragondick up their pussies.
