This mod just came out the other day, I found it randomly while browsing ModDB and didn't think it would be that great from the screenshots but I was bored and decided to try it. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, this isn't your typical run and gun mod with zombies or vehicles. In fact, you don't do any fighting and there are no enemies. The only enemy is the voice in your head.
The Stanley Parable is an experimental narrative-driven first person game. It is an exploration of choice, freedom, storytelling and reality, all examined through the lens of what it means to play a video game. You will make a choice that does not matter You will follow a story that has no end You will play a game you cannot win
Check it out: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-stanley-parable Trailer: Chart showing all the endings, spoiler alert (thanks ProgramFiles): http://i.imgur.com/W3KCU.png
Sounds interesting. I'll give it a shot.
I'm downloading it, but I won't play it until tomorrow.
It's actually pretty interesting, alternate paths that well... alternate the storyline, depending on whether you follow it or not. I also love [sp]how the narrorator gets mad at you if you don't do it correctly.[/sp] There are A LOT of possibilities to what can be done to the storyline. [sp]Stanley can die, or he can live, depending on the paths you take during the game.[/sp] All in all, it's a fun game, I plan to play it more tomorrow, and find more ways to fuck with the story. I might even make multiple videos, about what happens if you take certain paths in certain orders. If I have the time.
Brilliant mod, pretty interesting and clever and loved the narrator. [sp]Got the ending where you follow everything the narrator says first and gone to the outside world knowing it's destiny.[/sp] Gotta replay this a lot and see more of the possible outcomes. [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] OK now [sp]didn't follow a single thing the narrator said and got to the empty skybox room, the HL2 intro and stuff. It feels a wee bit like the Truman Show and how the narrator reacts to everything is awesome.[/sp]
That was a greatly enjoyable and unique experience. To anyone who wants to know more about the mod before playing: don't bother. It's best you go into it basically knowing nothing. Just set aside some time and dive in. It should only take about 10 minutes. Or it might not. There's only one way you're going to find out!
Just played it a bit, very great mod. Still gonna look through it. Btw, the narrator has a SEXY VOICE
I loved the ending where a woman screamed [sp]quick, press escape then quit game, it's the only way you can save both of them, if you d-- *crush*[/sp]

She says [sp]that everything was planned since the beginning, or something along the lines. And I wonder if each action influences future results. Like if you were supposed to do something in the first part of the mod, and it affects the end whether you live or die[/sp]

I found Amnesia less unsettling. [sp]Doesn't help that I have somewhat severe OCD, and I'm compelled to do the whole thing again and exit before Stanley is killed.[/sp] Also: [sp] You'll notice I'm posting from the Steam Browser. I'm still in game because I can't decide whether or not to play through it again. Damn OCD. [/sp]
Gonna upload the introduction on youtube in a little bit, for those who are interested. EDIT: Just uploaded it
That was a lot of fun. Very clever little mod. Reminds me of the Radiator a bit in the fact that it's so unique.
Gotta play this!
Well, I think I did all the possible endings. Brilliant little mod.
installing hl2 again to play this [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] holy shit that was great especially if you choose the wrong paths
Overall the mod was okay, but the mapping was really sub-par. Can't help but think what would happen if I had done things differently. [sp]I broke the game by pressing the buttons to send the elevator up and then quickly running out. Narrarator doesn't say anything after that.[/sp]
I haven't been able to advance [sp] I'm stuck to the part where you're able to jump off the window, but i can't seem to find the alternate way out, and i see suspicious valve, and i look around everwhere [/sp]
[sp]You jump out the window.[/sp]
[sp]So you're saying I'm supposed to do something before I die after I jump off? I'll look into that EDIT: Nope its impossible[/sp]
That was awesome. [sp] is there anyway to avoid blowing up when the narrator starts the count down? or am I actually just meant to sit there and wait to die...I'd really like to show that dick a thing or two [/sp]
[sp] Pretty much got all 6 endings, it was really great and i can really see the whole theme [/sp]

Tried multiple things, nothing worked.
[sp]Also, Stanley is addicted to drugs and hookers.[/sp]

I thought this mod would be very very funny with me doing all the wrong choices. But then I found that all the other endings were kind of depressing. This mod is terrific, but I just don't get to do at the [sp]ending where you enable the generator.[/sp]
I took all of the wrong choices and it was pretty funny. I need to try to get the other endings though.
Oh man, that was great, I just wished there were a ton more options rather than the usual left or right? Up or down? 1 or 2? They should've done a lot more branches, would've made the game more long lasting, etc. But they need to add more detail. The hallways was bland, but the gameplay is all its about, right? Terrific gameplay by the way.
Someone needs to take that simple concept and just make a larger mod with it, it's fucking awesome.
The narrator sounds almost exactly like the late Peter Jones.
I got the ending where you [sp]went into the basement[/sp]. There was some terrific breaking of the fourth wall when the narrator goes, [sp]Stanley wondered, "Why couldn't he see his feet when he looked down?[/sp] Fantastic mod, hope to see someone expand on the idea.
