Just got this Creation Club News message. "CREATION CLUB NEWS Vault-Tec Alerts: Sometimes it pays to be stupid. Try the Idiot Savant perk.. What you lack in smarts you make up in boosts to XP. Plus find discounts in Creation Club all weekend, including a free Power Armor Paint Job." Do they just not realize, or...?

I can't remember who was asking for my robot designs but it's all here. Enjoy! If you've got improvements then share them as i'm always building new things and tinkering with theses designs.
People treating the Creation Engine as Gamebryo and Gamebryo as NetImmerse, and saying Morrowind Engine == Skyrim's Engine is just stupid. If Skyrim ran on the same engine as Morrowind, you could directly port assets, without any commotion. Saying the Creation Engine is the same as Gamebryo is as wrong as saying the Source engine is the same as Gold Source or that that one is the same as the Quake Engine. I've never understood where this myth comes from to be honest. (the video that shows Bleak Falls Barrow on morrowind is OpenMW)
Creation is literally a modified Gamebryo, that part isnt hyperbole. Its what it actually is. It basically isnt gamebryo at this point, but Creation is based on Gamebryo, they've said it.
I feel like a lot of people making fun of Gamebryo/CE as engines don't actually understand the nuances of those engines and just think Gamebryo=Jank because of Bethesda's own approach to using and modifying the engine over time. It's not CE's fault Bethesda can't figure out ladders.
mag release does not actually move 4/10 that charging handle wobble is oddly satisfying though

Has there been any Fallout 4 updates in the last couple months that could have made it so I can't run the game anymore? The other day I decided to install some new mods and play it again after not having touched it in a while, and now the game doesn't run. I hit play from the launcher, see a black screen, then sometimes a second of the loading icon in the corner before it quits to desktop with no message. I removed all the new mods, still doesn't run, verified integrity in case any mods edited main game files, still doesn't run, and even ran it with all of my mods turned off and still no luck. I also haven't had any graphics card updates since I last played, so that's not a cause. If anyone has any advice besides trying a full reinstall, I'd appreciate it.
The creation club launch updated the .exe, are you using F4SE by any chance?
The creation club launch updated the .exe, are you using F4SE by any chance?
Nope, haven't used any mods that needed it thus far.
Man, gotta shout out to AsXas and your weapons, I'm already liking the weapon variety in my new play through. Also holy fuck do I also love Sim Settlements and the addon's it's spawned, they've made settlement building fun.
Sim Settlements doesn't just make the settlement building fun, it completely refines a gameplay system that justifies building a settlement in the first place. It's actually a crime how little the settlement system played into the actual core gameplay loop of the game in vanilla. The biggest effect I remember it having, aside from raw resources, was the accidental benefit of having the commonwealth become insanely secure once you had all your supply lines going, acting as basically wandering guards of the commonwealth.
Hopefully. I just hope it doesn't cause any problems to NMM and it's magical virtual files stuff.
Turns out I was right. Windows 10 has issues with copying symlink files if the actual files they point to have moved, and since I was trying to move both my NMM virtual install folders and the Steam data folder windows just refused to move them. Luckily it turns out Windows comes with a command line tool called robocopy that can handle that better and even (hopefully) remap symlinks on the go. So now everything is copied and I just need to get it to actually work. And possibly get some sleep.

Is anyone else a little bothered by VATS? Like it's a great idea but I feel like its mostly a crutch instead of a resource for players. It's always too easy to get headshots so I never found myself strategically crippling limbs.

Look in your main Fallout 4 folder and rename dxgi.dll or other weird ddls, like xinput. I had the same problem after the Creation Club update and renaming the extra ddls solved it.
Is anyone else a little bothered by how VATS? Like it's a great idea but I feel like its mostly a crutch instead of a resource for players. It's always too easy to get headshots so I never found myself strategically crippling limbs.
I think it's always been a crutch really, you could basically use it infinitely in Fallout 3 for example. VATS, once it's benefiting from almost all its possible bonuses, becomes the "I think I'm gonna skip this fight" button. It seems necessary sometimes though. For some reason, certain body parts are almost impossible to hit directly on their weak point outside of when they're completely immobile for instance, other times, it may actually be impossible to hit them on special spots without VATS. Insects are pretty infamous for being difficult to hit, especially on the head. So, VATS comes in handy them for them. Meanwhile, you have enemies like Mirelurk Hunters and Radscorpions, which I'm pretty sure are actually impossible to directly hit on their face/weak point outside of VATS. Any attempt at shooting either of these enemies on their weak point never seems to register as such, but instead as a regular body shot. Robots are also the same with their combat inhibitors, as well as fusion cores of power armor users.
Is anyone else a little bothered by how VATS?
Yup. I especially hate how they. :v: But seriously, in the beginning headshots and some limb shots are like 40-60 percent with 3 or 4 perception. Roughly at the end game though, headshots become much easier with guns that have long barrels, so it's practically useless throughout the entire game to shoot limbs. And limbs sometimes take too much damage to cripple to even try to strategically damage them.
With that perk that lets you shoot through barriers I was freezing through the game shooting fusion cores through bodies and heads through walls.
WOW they are fucking stupid. This is silly. I can't help but feel like the people buying this trash are being laughed at.
Anyone else explore the entire commonwealth before going to diamond city? I set up every settlement, put 2-3 supply lines for each one, reclaimed the castle and after 20 hours I've reached level 46 and only now am I venturing to Diamond City as the biggest landowner in the region. feels weird. like I know it's an open world-do what you want-game but it feels weird since bethesda wanted to make the trip to diamond city the player's first real trip into the unknown wasteland and be scared and confused about the world.

Up until that point, all I had seen were settlement the player could control, I had mostly been exploring eastwards after clearing Lexington. Diamond City was my first look at some of the few 'city' locations in the game, and I felt quite impressed and almost shocked I hadn't ventured there earlier. In my second playthrough right now, I'm still pretty hesitant to go to the area of Diamond City, but only because I want to make sure I don't lock down the encounter zones to such a low level it becomes a snooze fest on returning visits. Even with this mod that is supposed to make enemies have no level limit on encounter zones, some zones still function the same way in the vanilla game, so a place like USAF Satellite Station Olivia is going to have Raider Scum spawning continually even once I'm level 50.
Are you using NMM or MO2?
NMM, never switched to something else since it never gave me any problems using it for years.
So I've been playing fo4 survival mode and I have to say its fairly (very) annoying how stuff seems to randomly 1 hit you. I'm wearing full combat armour and destroyed a sentry bot, healed up to full, only to get 1 hit by a (none legendary) dog. Loaded, go back to where I was, destroyed sentry bot again, killed dog before it could reach me only to get 1 bit by a raider. Not a legendary raider, just an ordinary raider, not a shotgun or explosive. Just a single hit from their gun. Rage quit for the night after that. Armour seems to be near useless in survival, cept to have deep pockets on it because survival mode gimps your carrying capacity making explosives or automatic weapons none viable. I really want the food stuff (clunky and inconvenient though it may be) but it's looking less and less like a good trade off. Survival mode seems to be an baffling combination of "no saving allowed" and "enemies can randomly 1 hit you", like they wanted to make fo4 into darksouls 2.
Creation Club's current title screen "tip" is "Your companion's starting weapon never needs more ammo!" WTF Next week: "Push the jump button to temporarily elevate yourself!"
Creation Club's current title screen "tip" is "Your companion's starting weapon never needs more ammo!" WTF Next week: "Push the jump button to temporarily elevate yourself!"
Fo4 will be someone's first game action RPG, they won't know stuff like this
NMM, never switched to something else since it never gave me any problems using it for years.
Ah ok, I was just wondering, seeings how there's a bug that has a similar symptom when using MO2. So what you should do is go into your windows drive and go into the \Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Fallout4 folder. Once you're there, back up the files in a different folder, then delete the original files. Try launching the game. If that doesn't work, go into your Users/*username*/Documents/My Games/Fallout4 folder and do the same process.
