Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (often referred to as War3 or WC3 or RoC) is a real time strategy video game released by Blizzard Entertainment on July 3, 2002 (US). It is the second sequel to Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and it is the third game set in the Warcraft Universe. An expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, was released on July 1, 2003 (US). Warcraft III contains four playable races:[1] Humans and Orcs, which had previously appeared in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, and the Night Elves and Undead, which were introduced to the Warcraft mythos in this installment.[2] Warcraft III's single-player campaign is laid out similarly to that of StarCraft (another Blizzard game), being told through all four of the game's races in a progressive manner. In the expansion there are two additional races: the Draenei, a race of eredar who are cursed to be abominations, and the Naga, a race of vile serpents and other creatures that come from the depths of the sea. Multiplayer mode allows for play against other people, via the internet, instead of playing against computer-controlled characters as is done in the single-player custom game mode. Due to the dual storylines of the previous Warcraft games, the story can only be understood if using the proper storylines of one of the campaigns in the previous games, being the Orc Campaign on Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and the Human Campaigns on both the Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness and Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. The game proved to be a best seller and one of the most anticipated and popular computer game releases ever, with 4.5 million units shipped to retail stores and over one million units sold within a month.[3] Warcraft III won many awards including "Game of the Year" from more than six different publications.[4]
Warcraft 3 is I have to say one of my favourite RTS games if not one of the best RTS games of all time, I remember playing it back when it came out and it's fucking crazy that I'm still playing it now, there's not much else I can say, it's bloody brilliant. Reign of Chaos You start off as the Orc warchief Thrall, who is sent on a quest by a prophet to the lands of Kalimdor to ensure the survival of his people, meanwhile Arthas, son of King Menethil of the humans is helping eradicate the scourge from his homelands, but as he seeks to end the scourge, he finds Frostmourne, which ends his old quest and possesses him, getting him to spread the scourge he sought to destroy, and is consolidating his power. During that time the humans were also visited by the prophet and also told to go to Kalimdor, where they find the orcs, and the once enemies are forced to team up with eachother and the elves to fight against Burning Legion, which treatens to spread doom to the entire world. meanwhile Arthas is fucking around with his new powers, the Burning Legion is defeated. Leaving the plot open for an expansion - The Frozen Throne. The Frozen Throne This time shits serious, the elves are trying to stop the traitor, Illidan for some reason. The Naga are helping Illidan escape, and convince the Blood Elves to help him, Illidan is forced to go kill Arthas, and Arthas is heading to become one with the Lich King and fuck shit up with the Scourge. Of course, everyone fails, apart from Arthas, fucking elves. Something else about Naga storyline here. The Multiplayer The multiplayer capabilities are ridiculous for Warcraft 3 are ridiculous, in a good way. There's so many maps and gamemodes that you may never get bored of this game. I'll go through a few of my favourite gamemodes. Tower Defense In this gamemode, you are given a builder, or builders with which to make turrets and towers which are to hold the enemy from reaching their destination wave by wave, let too much enemies through and you lose. Island Defence Somewhat similar to Tower Defence, except this time your builder and your allies, the other builders are to make bases and to gather strength, eventually killing the Titan. The Titans job is to find your builder unit and kill him, ensuring you can't build any more and making you his minion. Dungeons and Dragons RP Style Gamemodes There are many of these gamemodes out there, some go in depth with what the Game Master can do and others not so much, My favourite gamemode of these is Steels DnDRP. The gamemaster sets up events for the players to go through spawning characters which he controls, building towns and bending the story to his will, which could lead to a number of endings depending on what the players choose. Also contains a dice feature. Me and a few other FPers often play these gamemodes so if you've got Warcraft 3 + TFT and want a game, just post here in this thread. Edit: I know we're using Game Ranger and it is possible for people on pirate copies to join us, but please don't pirate the game or you'll get banned for... "War3z" [del]A list of us would be nice.[/del] I'll remember to get some screenshots next time we're playing... ... [del]Anyone recommend a good screenshot program so I'm not pressing print screen, alt tab, paste into paint, save and alt-tab back in?[/del]# Doesn't matter, Warcraft 3 saves screenshots immediately on pressing prntscrn
WarCraft 3 is my jam and always will be. Custom gaming in SC2 will never compare.

I like this game quite a bit. Only traditional though. Most of the mods just kill it for me.
I always loved Sheep Tag/Tree Tag. There's nothing like running for your life in the first 5 minutes, then building an army of houses in the last 10.
I like this game quite a bit. Only traditional though. Most of the mods just kill it for me.
man the mods are what makes wc3
if you get banned, isnt it just to create a new online account? I remember having thousands of them
The DoTA community in this is terrible.
Have any of you ever tried the undead assault map? I used to love that shit, we should play it sometime, i just need to find my disk.
man the mods are what makes wc3
They were okay for a while, but I got bored of all of them. In the end, I just long for some classic Warcraft 3 over anything.
Dark Deeds is one of the best custom maps I have ever played, ever.
It sucks how 75% of online games are DOTA now, there used to be some pretty rad maps.

Thank you VALVe you brilliant people. Shame they can't do anything about the massive number of empty servers hosted by bots.
This game played a large part of my childhood/early teens, I will always love it as it holds a special place in my heart.
This game played a large part of my childhood/early teens, I will always love it as it holds a special place in my heart.
I'm sure it does.
accept my friends requests on steam plox
My favourite maps were LOAP, vampirism and footmen frenzy, yours?
my favorite maps were vampirism, wintermaul, and kodo tag.
I wish Blizzard would make a Warcraft 4, with all the things we know and love from Warcraft 3
Oh shit I forgot all the tower defense maps. Oh and DoBRP and that shit, and CoT RPG - PoM. loved those. There's one map I can't remember the name of, you had custom races like gnolls, humans, elves, undead, orcs, goblins etc. You spawned with a whisp to select base location and what race and then you waged war. You could place traps n shit and there were siege weapons.
i enjoyed the custom campaign with rexxar, but i wish they made more custom campaigns.
Tower defense was pretty great, But does anyone remember the zombie map that was centered around the whole world? Purple (Austraila) And teal (Half of canada and half of america) Were the best people to be.
i played so much TDs and mauls, also like the vampirism, x hero siege and some others
Custom maps I used to enjoy playing a ton when I used to play near non-stop. Island Defense Every kind of Troll Tribes Heroes and Empires SOTD-RP and everything before DOB-RP, COTS-RP and a few others. Dark Deeds Uther Party There were probably more, but those are the one I can remember.
I spent way too much time when I was younger on those tower defence maps especially wintermaul, it ended up replacing the normal game for me (Undead for life though). Also uther's party was just the greatest.
Oh man, the secrets in this game's campaign. Who remembers The Largest Panda Ever or The Penguin King? I'd give my left arm to Blizzard if they made Warcraft 4.
If they made a Warcraft 4 they'd just have to throw away everything that happened in World of Warcraft because they really fucked up the lore that the series had going.
If they made a Warcraft 4 they'd just have to throw away everything that happened in World of Warcraft because they really fucked up the lore that the series had going.
Doesn't have to, but they most likely have to end their development of WoW. They'd have to introduce a ton of new characters though.
Doesn't have to, but they most likely have to end their development of WoW.
