The Elder Scrolls is a series of action role-playing open world fantasy video games primarily developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The series is known for its elaborate and richly detailed open worlds and its focus on free-form gameplay. Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all won Game of the Year awards from multiple outlets. The series has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. So how about that Skyrim VR gonna feel weird having to actually activate objects by touching them with your hands rather than just pressing E
Is skyrim VR only psvr?
I remember hope someone mods the Switchs version Zelda outfits. Been wanting the Champion Tunic in Skyrim ever since I saw it but I don't want to buy the game again just for that
Man I really need to actually watch that presentation
Updated the OP with images finally. I watched the trailer and SkyrimVR looked pretty awkward.Does SkyrimVR comes free like the special edition or do you have to shell out money again for it?
Well, if FO4VR is anything to go buy, everyone's gonna be dropping another $60 for it.
hopefully they'll give it free like they did with Skyrim:SE and dlc owners
idk I'd be pretty pissed about having to spend another $60 to get a gimmicks feature in a game I've had for 6 years
Thank god I was getting desperate that I'd have to migrate to another thread for my shitposting. While I like that Beth's pushing for VR their conference was really shite damn. Also Skyrim VR looks kinda wierd but atleast it's coming out with official support which is nice. I really think this could have all been averted if they'd waited 2 years to release skyrim, could have even ironed out the bugs and introduced something new. I was always of the idea that Skyrim should have been released on the next gen consoles, and their push for Special Edition and VR just goes to show that had they waited 2 years to release it on consoles no one would have to suffer, since the PC could have just gotten the same game and not be held back by consoles, but I'm also aware that the console is a far bigger marketplace than the PC, but it still left me kinda pissed off.
Skyrim just needs to die now. All this says is that we won't see a new TES for at least two years.
Damn Bethesda, I wanted PSVR for Fallout, not Skyrim. I do like that they're experimenting with different movement/play styles for their different VR games. Developers need to hash out good game systems for this new play style (that doesn't make you throw up after playing for an hour.)
TBH while I am completely burned out on Skyrim on PC, I'd probably get a used copy of SkyrimVR if I had the space for a PSVR setup. No way am I paying $60 for a 6 year old game
Skyrim just needs to die now. All this says is that we won't see a new TES for at least two years.
I think you're looking at 4 years at least. They haven't even started anything other than conceptual work.
I think you're looking at 4 years at least. They haven't even started anything other than conceptual work.
Maybe even longer if the rumors about BethGS working on a new IP are true. Their studio seems to only work on one game at a time and typically make games once every 3-4 years, so it could be as late as 6-8 years.
Would the next elder scrolls game be dead on arrival if they don't get a new engine? Do consumers even care about the engine being bad?
Now that modding is $$$, Beth will keep the same framework, because they won't spend the money making in-house tools, which would take an actual literal miracle to occur, so the answer is whatever is less expensive and allows the most microtransactions. As we can see from FO4 sales, as long as their "character" can do anything, customers, especially console customers don't give the slightest fuck about engine or platform issues.
Would the next elder scrolls game be dead on arrival if they don't get a new engine? Do consumers even care about the engine being bad?
Depends how it runs. I never cared about the engine until FO4, but now that I can't run the game at a constant 60fps, getting FPS drops down to ~20 in the worst places at 1600x900 despite having a pretty high-end rig, I still haven't beaten the fucking game. I haven't finished Far Harbor. I haven't even touched Nuka-World. All because the game starts feeling a little unfair around the time my framerate gets so bad I can't aim.
Would the next elder scrolls game be dead on arrival if they don't get a new engine? Do consumers even care about the engine being bad?
tes has a built in market at this point that's been putting up with a shitty engine for 15 years. newcomers to the series are younger and playing on console anyway so they don't really notice how bad the engine is since it's so much easier to optimize for console. the game has never had exceptionally good graphics either, though skyrim was a step into above average.
I'm in a bit of a rut with Skyrim at the moment. I am trying to create a necromancer character for legendary difficulty that focuses on summons and bound weapons, but my personal damage output is lacking, and I made some dumb decisions with perks when trying to fix it. I am also overleveled as fuck and have nothing to show for it. Using melee weapons on legendary seems like a foolish idea due to how fragile you are, but destruction magic isn't cutting it either. I tried using the Ahzidal's Ring spells to greatly boost damage (the numbers according to the guides were insane on paper), but it isn't working as well as I would like. No other playstyle really seems that interesting. Stealth archer is brokenly powerful and horribly dull, melee builds seem fairly mindless, I tried toying with a "manipulator" build that wouldn't have any damage output at all, but that inevitably lead back to my original problem. I want to love magic but it just doesn't hold up: spell damage doesn't scale with level or increase with equipment. I am feeling a bit burnt out and don't really know what to do. I considered being a non-lethal thief character, but that would really only lead me back to the same problem with different scenery.

I had a level 50 mage as one of my first characters in Skyrim and it was absolutely the worst, vanilla magic is terrible.
tbh the best solution for getting out of a Skyrim rut is to play something else, then get back to it when you're in the mood to play. Either that or I suggest doing unconventional playthroughs, such as completing every major questline without killing a human according to the game, which means exploiting frenzy/calm/fear magic.

Is the realistic blood effects addons from the Nexus any good? I'm thinking about using it to spice up melee combat. Also what are some good range addons to make using a bow more fun?
Nock to tip is a decent archery overhaul alongside perma me thinks. Nock to tip adds longer arrows, longer arrow ranges, fletching and restringing bows/xbows for different purposes. Perma adds different bow classes such as long bows and short bows so together you can make a huge variety of different archery types. edit - perma also has stuff like arcane archery in enchanting where your arrows can be magically enchanted as long as you have mana.
bows
real bows and realistic archery are a nice change of pace from "omg one shot alduin at level 15"

Ive been running a heavy armor orc with a shitty long bow that has high ib draw string and low qaulity arrows just so I can play out the Boromir scene on bandit leaders.
Is SKSE64 out yet?
