Most cutscenes in the PS4 version were capped at 30FPS but at a few times during the game, you would get a taste of 60FPS cutscenes and the visuals are exactly the same.
I'm pretty sure the base PS4 couldn't completely handle 60FPS in every cutscene (the ones outdoors with many characters) and thus they capped it for safety. The few times you get 60FPS, it's related to an incoming fight, and it's always when there are few characters in the scene, and indoors.
Thus it was expected that the PC version would have some sexy-ass 60FPS in every cutscene except the very few pre-rendered ones.
I already played the first two but on an old ps4, the idea of playing them again uncapped and on an even better resolution sounds extremely tempting
Game's released and unpacking now from my end, will report back asap
god I'd really love to play this considering how much I've heard about it but I'm not getting any money until september, hopefully I can stave off any spoilers until then
good to see that it's a solid port though, since kiwami is also coming out at some point on steam
Sadly I'm not getting the same experience as you might have. It's really stuttery along with audio issues especially in cutscenes.
I've only had minor sound issues at one of the intro cutscenes and never again so far but otherwise it runs shockingly smooth so far on my R9 380.
Recorded some of the starting cutscenes with the Full Frame Rate mode enabled
2 hour report of yakuza 0: it's a good game and a good port.
minus some random audio bugs during cutscenes.
Aw, I just finished Yakuza 0 on PS4, didn’t know it was gonna be out on Steam lol
Speaking of, it was my first Yakuza game, and now I’m hooked! Just started Kiwami, so is there anything to know about the changes between the two? I know dudes aren’t money piñatas anymore, and now skills require exp points instead of money. Any other tips?
There's an ability now to change fighting styles mid-combo or while dashing and you can save anywhere now on the pause menu other than the phone booths. Minigames wise pocket racing is back, and cat fights are replaced by a trading card rock-paper-scissors game Mesuking, which is less luck-based (but still frustrating) though definitely less so than the cat fights from 0.
If you have patience, there's a boss fight near the start against Majima which you're typically supposed to lose to. If you cheese it and win however, you earn a bonus 100XP which will give you a nice headstart early on to get some skills upgraded.
Don't use the Dragon fighting style until you have it completed around 80%, it's pretty much an end-game style since it's super hampered after the prologue. Rush and Brawler are your best friend.
If you're having audio issues in cutscenes, try this:
%appdata%\Sega\Yakuza0\audio.ini set AudioMode=1
Found on the steam forums and it helped for me.
Haven't gotten it yet, but I really want to. I did find this guide so those who already have the game should check it out.
Gotta have all dem musics.
put 100K yen into vending machine
get a 9mm handgun
Is this america.
Kudos for the advice! Sadly, already got absolutely wrecked by Majima, so whoops. Other than that, yeah, I figured out Dragon sucked after I realized it only has two hit combos at first as opposed to Brawler's four lol
It's also already really awesome seeing the continuity from 0 to Kiwami. A lot has change in 17 years...
Rush is going to be your bread and butter on some boss fights and tougher fights with larger mobs since you'll likely have to do a lot of dodging. The combos in Rush is very handy overall since it's so easy to cheese some enemies with it. Once you get foes isolated into a corner, Brawler will be a great way to dish out a larger amount of damage, and thanks to the new mid-combo style changing, they synergize really well when it comes to both defense and offense. You can prioritize leveling either, but slightly leaning more on Rush just due to how much it can keep you alive and how handy it is against bosses.
Rush>Brawler>Beast>Dragon should be a good priority in terms of leveling. Beast while nerfed does offer some utility in some of the later fights to get large groups down faster. Once you get to the point where you can get Tiger Drop for Dragon, you'll be pretty much done with the Dragon style and start dishing out some real damage with it.
The only issue i'm having right now is that the game, for some reason, is not added to the applications that turns off the screensaver while being active, so i'm watching the intro and bang, screensaver on How can i fix this?
Weird bjg im getting is playing space harrier causes the audio to peak till i go back to the main menu, and the claw machine will just get stuck when going down until i induce some lag.
The best solution I've found is to set the process priority to high in task manager. If anyone has a better solution, let me know.
Yeah, that did work. But there's still the random freezes out of nowhere.
Does run better though.
I hope this works for you guys too
I wanted to see what could be done with the pc version in terms of modding characters, it has created some interesting and frightening results. It's surprisingly very easy to replace the models in this game, it causes some parts to crash (like anything involving Karaoke)
i now want to buy this on PC just to play through the entire game again as Walking Erection
Thats screenshot of the clown in the middle looks like a character from that fuckjng comic with bugs bunny and shadow the hedgehog.
fun fact, idk why but after installing yakuza 0 my mic level dropped all the way down to 0.
Finished Kiwami the other day and fuck I'm just counting down the days to Kiwami 2. It looks so good. Actual ragdolling in fights? I saw some footage and you can really send people flying. That Yakuza 6 engine looks delish.
personally i was really disappointed with 6's combat, the series had been getting tighter and tighter in terms of combat from 1 all the way to 0 but then 6 throws all of that out the window and goes for that weird physics heavy combat
while i do agree the series' gameplay needed reworking i dont like the direction they took, it's fun at first but it gets tiring after a while and feels much more unreliable and sometimes frustrating than 0's gameplay
I suppose I'll have to wait and see. I was late to the party with Yakuza, only played 0 and Kiwami.
I'm never getting these rush mastery skills, these dodging minigames are trash. First off, I can't see shit with the crowd that is so close that the camera is right into some bystander's ass. Then half the time I dodge earlier and avoid the bash, only for me to get hit from behind the dude while hes still charging.
ngl I like Majima's combat styles a whole lot more then Kiryu's
i think most people would agree with you
dancer style is ridiculously OP when fighting big groups
