Hello, welcome to the Dark Souls, Demon's Souls & Bloodborne megathread! From Software created the Souls series along with other great games such as Armored Core and King's Field. The Souls games are action/adventure RPGs that are well known by many for their challenging and rewarding gameplay. Demon's Souls is the first game in the series and is exclusive to the PS3. Dark Souls is its spiritual successor, available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Dark Souls 2 is the latest game in the series and is to be released on March 11th, 13th, and 14th worldwide for Xbox 360 and PS3, with the PC version coming out on April 25th. The PC port of the original Dark Souls was not so great, however there are several modifications that help to fix a lot of the problems, you'll find most of them linked below under the "Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition" image. Of all these helpful modifications, DSFix is almost necessary. Journey to a horror-filled gothic city where deranged mobs and nightmarish creatures lurk around every corner. Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive. Use holy chalices to gain entrance to a network of vast underground ruins, filled with traps, beasts, and rewards, to explore and conquer alone or with others. These procedurally generated dungeons offer brand new challenges to master. Armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets. According to lead director and series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design followed "closely from Dark Souls II". Players are equipped with a variety of weapons including shortbows, explosives like fire bombs, greatswords and dual-wielding swords to fight against enemies, and shields that can be used to deflect an enemies' attack and protect the player from suffering damage. In addition, attacks can be evaded through dodge-rolling. Bonfires, which serve as checkpoints, return from previous installments. Ashes, according to Miyazaki, play an important role in the game. Magic is featured in the game and the magic meter returns from Demon's Souls. Each attack has two different styles. One of them is standard attack, while another provides power-ups to players, and is slightly more powerful. When performing miracles and spells, the players' magic points are consumed and decreased. In order to refill these points, they need to consume an "Ash Estus Flask". There are two different Estus Flasks in the game. One of them refills hit points like previous games in the series, while another helps refill magic points. Combat and movements were made faster and more fluid in Dark Souls III. Several players' movements, such as backstepping and swinging heavy weapons, can be performed more rapidly, allowing players to deal more damage in a short period of time. Throughout the game, players encounter different types of enemies, each with different behaviors. Some of them change their combat pattern during battles. New combat features are introduced in Dark Souls III, including "Weapon Arts", which are special abilities that vary from weapon to weapon that enable extra damage and unique movesets for a limited time, at the cost of magic points. Small gravestones are introduced. These gravestones light up when interacted with and not only serve as players' torches, but also provide additional lore to the game. The game puts more focus on role-playing, in which the character builder is expanded and weapons are improved to provide more tactical options to players. The game features fewer maps than its predecessor Dark Souls II, but levels were interconnected and were made larger, which encourages exploration. The adaptability stat from Dark Souls II was removed from Dark Souls III. The game features multiplayer elements, like the previous games in the series. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Explore in search of a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past. The story of Dark Souls II is not directly connected to Dark Souls, though they are set in the same world. The protagonist finds themselves in the Kingdom of Drangleic, a once powerful and prosperous land which fell into ruin and damnation after a series of unfortunate events, in search of a cure for their affliction, the curse of the Undead. During the glory days of Drangleic, the realm was ruled over by King Vendrick, a just and honorable king who led his country to prosperity with the help of his high-ranking knights, who were selected by the king himself for demonstrating both valor and charity. Drangleic was also known for its brave soldiers, the Defenders, who were known for using both pyromancies and advanced swordplay techniques to slay their foes. Due to this, the Defenders were the most feared soldiers in all of the kingdoms. The only warriors who were able to put a challenge to the Defenders were the Silverdrake Knights of Lindeldt, whose ability for casting miracles during battle made them worthy rivals to Drangleic's army. Cursed with the fate of the undead, will you fall like the mighty knights before you or will you rise and find a cure? In the Age of Ancients, the world was unformed, shrouded by fog, a land of grey crags, archtrees, and everlasting dragons but then there was fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course.. Light and Dark. Then, from the Dark, they came and found the Souls of Lords within the flame. Nito, the first of the dead. The Witch of Izalith, and her daughters of chaos. Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the furtive pygmy, so easily forgotten. With the Strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the dragons were no more. Thus began the Age of Fire. But soon, the flames will fade, and only Dark will remain. Even now, there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights. And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign. As an accursed undead, your journey starts here in this land of fallen dragons and failed gods. Will you regain your humanity and rise to face the challenges ahead or will you simply hollow and admit defeat? There is no Demon's Souls 2 at this point in time. The game is set in the kingdom of Boletaria, ruled by the aging King Allant XII. Because of his greed, the king searched for power and prosperity through a dark ritual of channeling the power of souls that brought unprecedented prosperity to Boletaria, until the "Deep Fog" covered the land's outskirts, cutting off the kingdom from the outside world. Neighboring kingdoms sent scouts to investigate but none returned after entering the fog. It was only after Vallarfax of the royal Twin Fangs broke free from the fog that the rest of the world could be told of Boletaria's plight. By channeling souls, King Allant had awakened the Old One, a great demon residing below the Nexus. With the Old One's awakening, a dark fog had swept in that within it unleashed demons who feasted on the souls of mankind, where those left alive without a soul became insane and violent. Without resistance, the fog slowly begins to spread beyond Boletaria. This is where you, the player come in. Will you attempt to help save the Kingdom of Bolataria or will you side with the demons and feast on the souls of mankind? What if Bloodborne was a future of Demon's Souls? You have "The Old One" at the end of Demon's Souls. What if the next time it woke up people were too late / failed to kill it and it spawned more "Old Ones" before becoming the Moon Presence?

A doofus that'll wipe out humanity when it wakes up. That's the scariest part about it. It's basically Azathoth from the Cthulhu mythos.

(DS2) What's a good weapon for 39k SM twink co-op build? Ideally a thrusting weapon that I won't miss out on the scaling on. I only have enough souls to upgrade one weapon to +10 so I want to make it count.

I feel like this series has actually made me rage less at video games.
What would you guys say are the most and least fun bosses in DSIII, solo and summoned? Excluding Yhorm and the Ancient Wyvern, who are chores without their gimmicks. Solo, I think I most look forward to Champion Gundyr, but Deacons are fun too because it's just a busy but easy kerfuffle. On the other side of the coin, I always dread facing Dragonslayer Armor alone 'cause he never lets up and the Pilgrim Butterflies are so annoying. Summoned, I've definitely had the most fun against Friede and the Twin Princes. Twin Princes still haven't gotten old, even though I've fought them probably a hundred times now, since I always endgame grind the knights outside their chamber and put my summon sign down. Least fun, I'd say Nameless King or Midir. Both have tons of health and their fights feature so much running and chasing after them.
My favorites are Dancer, Oceiros, Champ, NK, Friede, Satan, Gael, and sort of Dragonslayer Armor. The only fights I like to do summons for are Deacons and Rotted Greatwood. I just like the curbstomp that it is. Least fun fights are the Gravetenders, Old Demon King, and Aldrich.
Might be a minority, but I always liked fighting Soul of Cinder. For me it's got the perfect balance of intense, brutal fighting, and then short periods where you can catch your bearing and heal if necessary. One of my least favourite bosses is, without a doubt, Midir. It's an incredibly cheesy boss with a way, way too big health pool that just makes it feel like a chore to beat him.
For a strength build Bloodborne which is the better weapon, Kirkhammer or Ludwigs holy blade?
Abyss Watchers, Dragonslayer Armor, Princes, Champion Gundyr are all good. Any that are fun to dodge. Nothing wrong with Soul of Cinder, some of the phases are better than others. Gael is good too but his cape seriously pisses me off. Sulyvahn was the only boss I used to use a shield on, but I learned to dodge him properly and had a better time on my last run. I kind of like Old Demon King too because he looks like a goofy old style Dark Souls boss but he's tricky the first time.
For a strength build Bloodborne which is the better weapon, Kirkhammer or Ludwigs holy blade?
The Kirkhammer's heavy form requires much more, shall we say, skill to use effectively compared to the other strenght weapons, but it packs quite the punch. Meanwhile, Ludwig's Holy Blade is considered one of the best weapons in the game due to both its forms being excellent towards one kind of enemy or the other and it having the best stats scaling period

You had Gascoigne say Umbasa in the beta after all. Obviously they didn't actually go through with it considering there's nothing that really links them now.
For a strength build Bloodborne which is the better weapon, Kirkhammer or Ludwigs holy blade?
LHB is a quality weapon, so you split str/skill. If you want pure strength, kirk will scale better.
Anyone know the cause of invisible phantoms? Is it clever use of cheat engine or are we simply desynced over the p2p connection? [sp]Yes I am a R1 filthy spammer among other things.[/sp] [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/931553051987724868/0F0EC87A2383C4A6A9DC713AC9D9520B0C7973D2/[/t]

Playing on my Level 120 NG++ character, getting aldritch faithful summons basically right after another but still no watchdogs or sentinel/blades summons
As stated in the Discord, gonna' try to host a FC in DS2 SotFS tomorrow, or possibly Sunday if not enough people show up. Check the OP's post for the Discord link if you're interested. :v:
