You can fly around the universe at any speed, observing galaxies, stars, planets, nebulae, and even exotic stellar objects like black holes, pulsars, and neutron stars! The developer has also expressed wishes to integrate the ability to find randomly generated astro-engineering constructs (Think Halo, or Ringworld. Dyson Spheres are in this category as well.) Every planet in the simulation is unique, having been procedurally generated each time you explore the same system. The game also contains real systems, objects, and planets. This means you can explore nearby star systems, as well as those we may not even have discovered yet! You can approach planets to view their landscapes from the surface as well! Space Engine's interface is extremely easy to use. Just click where you want to go, and press 'g' to move to it! Double tap the 'g' key to travel faster. You can also move your viewpoint using the WASD keys and mouse. Just remember that it's still in beta, so a lot of features are upcoming, and it does still have some bugs to work out! (I miss the giant perfectly cubic star clusters myself :v:) Screenshots (Images shamelessly stolen from the thread): Feel free to post your own screenshots here! Where can I get this?
I require link.
Oh shit, sorry. Let me grab the link. [editline]4th April 2011[/editline] DL links added to the OP. Since the site's in Russian, I'll make a guide real quick.
Danke Shits in russian, thank god for google chrome translating it
Reminds me of Infinity. Which needs to be finished.
Added guide to OP. Also a warning message.
I'm wondering if the flare effect around that blue sun in the OP is just a sprite or actually 3d.
It's 3D IIRC. I'll go back in-game and check.
If it is, that simulator is fucking boss.
Someone should mirror it with mir.cr or something.
I found Pandora... It is around the Alpha Centauri gas giant named Polyphemus like the movie, I don't think its a coincidence. Finding it was an accident tho, I clicked on the Saturn moon named Pandora in the system browser but it took me to the planet instead
Yes, the Star's "glow"/flares effect is a 3D effect.
Also, a mirror would be nice. The download from that russian site is a bit slow
The problem is that it's 500MB. I don't know of any mirrors, but I'm working on uploading it now.
Also, a mirror would be nice. The download from that russian site is a bit slow
Oh yes, please! It's 1 AM here and I don't want to wait until 3 AM or next morning. :smith:
You do need both, after downloading both, extract them, then copy your data folder from Space Engine 0.84b to the .90 mini directory
I just copied the .90 files over top the .84. And it works fine. Other then the random crashes that I don't think are related to that.
Yeah I tried that and it didn't work for me, but whatever works. :V
download links don't work for me.
I was just on this, Beautiful game. I remotely connected my computer to my hd tv, shit was amazing.
download links don't work for me.
try this. http://narod.ru/disk/2547117001/SpaceEngine%200.84b.zip.html http://narod.ru/disk/6902298001/SpaceEngine%200.90%20mini.rar.html
We need some screenshots showing the detail of the landscapes of procedurally generated planets.
I'm uploading the full .9b to my Dropbox. It should be done in around 20-30 minutes.
We need some screenshots showing the detail of the landscapes of procedurally generated planets.
Its upside down because its stupid like that. Yeah, the in-game screenshot taker takes them upside down, weird.
Do Dwarf Moons/Asteroids take forever to load for other people?
Do Dwarf Moons/Asteroids take forever to load for other people?
Not here. Try manually setting your amount of VRAM. [editline]4th April 2011[/editline] I got within 20 parsecs of the center of a galaxy, then crashed.

[editline]4th April 2011[/editline] I got within 20 parsecs of the center of a galaxy, then crashed.
I have 1gig of VRAM but everything only detects it as 512 [editline]4th April 2011[/editline] I like flying to other Galaxy's and look at stuff there.
