I love edward benz, 27 times but not my number 1 favorite on the album.
C'mon, no love for Edward Benz, 27 Times?
Its like a tie between this and a Broken Jar for me, a Broken Jar just doesn't get nearly enough love imo. a Broken Jar has the best lyrics on the album, and I just love the instrumentation along with the acoustic guitar and its just the perfect transition into the final "act" of the album. Speaking of which: Another one of my favorites, and another one that doesn't get nearly enough love.
I sort of feel like the entire album was sort of like a story book or a diary and a Broken Jar was a moment where it takes you out of the story for a moment and sort of gives the story's "author" feelings. I like all the the songs on the album but my least favorite has to be The Most Beautiful Bitter Fruit
all those songs are brilliant and are on the second half

The last 3 songs are sort of the epilogue where he ties the whole thing together. [editline]17th January 2012[/editline]
all those songs are brilliant and are on the second half
Brilliant songs in the first half: And the aforementioned Safer in the Forest. Generally I think both halves are equally good although I can definitely see why someone would like the second half more. [editline]17th January 2012[/editline] I think nearly every song on Wildlife has been posted on this page :v:
Edit Your Hometown and a Letter are also great tracks in the first half of the album.

The album is a view on life and the human condition told through stories the author hears, just like any autobiography or novel of the sort, theres authors notes. These 4 songs act as authors notes that put everything in perspective. Its really one of the most brilliant concept albums I've ever heard in that you don't need to listen to it from beginning to end for it to still resonate with you.
just gave these guys a listen, oof. couldn't get more than a minute in with that vocal style.
just gave these guys a listen, oof. couldn't get more than a minute in with that vocal style.
Thats cool, its not for everyone. If you really want to appreciate the band but dont like the vocal style, just read the lyrics. It reads like poetry. Also, I'm sending a letter to my La Dispute OBSESSED friend. I think I'm gonna put this on the envelope: :v: [editline]18th January 2012[/editline] He says The Mountain Goats is his favorite band. That just made me love La Dispute a little bit more.
can't believe there's a thread about La Dispute on here. I fucking love, love, love these guys.
just gave these guys a listen, oof. couldn't get more than a minute in with that vocal style.
I feel like thats the biggest barrier getting into them, I loved it right away but I can definitely see why someone might be put off by it.
why it scares me
I feel like thats the biggest barrier getting into them, I loved it right away but I can definitely see why someone might be put off by it.
This is why I'm so surprised that so many people here like La Dispute. I love their kind of vocals, all kinds of screaming/harsh vocals really, but I didn't expect so many other people here to enjoy it. :v:
Yea there's just as many people around who hate them though, it seems like you either love them or hate them right away.
I don't love or hate them, I just think they're alright. I haven't listened to it enough to really form much of an opinion :v:
I don't love or hate them, I just think they're alright. I haven't listened to it enough to really form much of an opinion :v:
Well I guess there's that too, I just mean most people form an opinion on them right away and then stick with that opinion.
First time I heard them they kinda grated on me but they grew on me and now I love his voice
Another great band I listened to before this was Saetia. Fucking love these guys.
90s/early 2000's screamo is the fucking shit man I'd make a dump but effort~ maybe later cos there's tons of great bands. la dispute are pretty different but these bands were probably quite an influence and have the same kind of emotion and all that [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] lol k doin a dump :v: Pg.99 (Wait for dat bit at about 1:30 onwards fuckin great) City Of Caterpillar Orchid Raein Circle Takes The Square I Would Set Myself On Fire For You Nuff for now ive got more tho <3
Circle Takes The Square is playing like ~2 hours away from where I live, might go there.
Go there, go there for me. Wish I could see them live.
I pretty much have to, it's not often I get to see bands I actually like here.
God I love early 2000s screamo, I started getting into it about the same time I first heard La Dispute. I Would Set Myself on Fire for You is probably one of my favorites along with Circle Takes the Square and pg.99 of course. [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] Some good newer stuff too
fear before the march of flames blood brothers the number 12 looks like you hella reminds me of early 2000 screamo
fear before the march of flames blood brothers the number 12 looks like you hella reminds me of early 2000 screamo
I love FBTMOF, speaking of which, this song reminds me a lot of Such Small Hands (except heavier and almost industrial sounding), I actually commented that on this youtube video a couple months ago: [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] I actually tried to make a mashup of this song, Such Small Hands, and Nobody Not Even The Rain but I never got it to work right. I did find out that if you sync up Such Small Hands and Nobody Not Even The Rain perfectly it sounds pretty amazing. [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] Remade it quickly, sounds like a wall of sound but its pretty nice.
fear before the march of flames blood brothers the number 12 looks like you hella reminds me of early 2000 screamo
holy fuck dude, i love all those bands
Blood Brothers is one of those bands I've been meaning to check for ages. one day i wil haha. not heard of the first band but #12 is awesome
The Blood Brothers is one of the best post-hardcore bands ever, so you really should. Young Machetes is a great album.
yeah bros I remember I went to seattle to see the blood brothers last show I think i went with my brother a long time agoo shit was dope. fear before the march of flames and the number 12 and the blood brothers provide great memories for me <3
Been wondering what this band was :v: even though I live in Grand Rapids and my friends always talk about going to their concerts.
