I've had my cruising board for a while but I'm looking for something that can handle slides as well as still be relatively compact. Like 34-38"? The rest of my kit is Abec 11 70's flashbacks, Randall 180 trucks (which are fabulous) And some secter 9 abec 9 bearings (stainless steel). I way about 55kg and height wise I am 170 cm. Any help would be a lifesaver.
greasehammer haha im on a comet kick [editline]14th February 2012[/editline] or really just a deck thats 36" should be perfect
Which wheels should I get? Leaning toward the ABEC11's for the high-speed and high-speed slides Leaning toward the Seismic Speed Vent's for the top speed.

Whichever one you go with get the respective bearing with it, so if Abec 11 go blitin, if seismic get tektons. They are made specifically for the wheels they make. [editline]14th February 2012[/editline] LBS has flashbacks in stock again!!
What is the best way to clean and lube bearings? Will boiling my white 3dm Avalons, which are tanned and darkened from use, make them white again?
acetone them bitches than throw some speed cream in them.
Will 91% isopropyl alcohol work?
Will 91% isopropyl alcohol work?
i honestly have no idea, I rarely clean my bearings because by the time they need a cleaning they're already pretty bent out of shape. I just keep reupping on milehigh bearings every 3 months. i should try longboarding, I use to skateboard, but got board of it. Currently my only board sport is snowboarding, but I only get to go on vacations, cause I'm in Florida.

I hope there are some parking garages around you.
I use to skateboard, but got board of it.
You definitely should give it a try, but if you live in Florida, as Takkun said, you should try to find some hills. [editline]14th February 2012[/editline] Can anyone tell me why my left-rear wheel bearings might make this sound? They're not over-tightened from what I can tell and they do not spin as smoothly as the rest.
Gave all the bearings another lube-up and that seems to have really reduced the sound, so when I order some new wheels, I'll add a cleaning kit.

I know I'm late to the game, but I figured since I'm new to this thread I'll put in my two cents. I could give two fucks if you smoke weed, as long as you don't do it around me and you're enjoying the sport. It's not like they're giving the sport a bad name. Anyways! Continue with the awesomeness that is longboarding!

I've decided that I dislike top mounts. I think it's cause of my short legs. I can't get a good kick that will let me coast long enough :/ Also disliking stiffer decks because of how much bumpier the ride is for me.
Florida is notoriously flat. What part are you in? I hope there are some parking garages around you.
I live near orlando ( I can see fireworks from disney at night) . I'll be on the lookout for parking garages, but all I'm around is houses pretty much. Before I get an opportunity to get into long boarding, I might try skateboarding again, the last time I went skateboarding it was really hot and the skate park wasn't the great, nobody was there. After that bad experience, I stopped.
.
That's awesome. Unfortunately there's literally nowhere near me that would have roads as long and interesting as this.
Almost ate shit in front of a woman walking her kid in a stroller at the bottom of a hill after school today, hit 30.2mph, went through some pebbles and began to wobble, stood up and spread my arms and regained control. I need to find some better hills.
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3702776/Photo%20Dump/2012-02-14_17-08-14_56.jpg[/img_thumb] I got it on craigslist for $100 with orangatangs/bear trucks a while ago and replaced the bushings(venom red/yellow) and bearings(ebay 5$), great intro to longboarding/DH I abuse it erryday and get it soaked/sandy often. I've only lubed the bearings once with lithium grease when I bought them, they still roll great. Thinking of getting a new board and wheels, then painting the trucks in various layered colors for a "jawbreaker" effect once I grind curbs or whatever. Need a new deck since it's starting to splinter and the mounting holes are enlarging, causing it to crabwalk a little. I could get an identical JET board but any cheap alternatives would be nice. also Florida has no hills but parking garages can be challenging if you find the right ones

Let me just fuck you up and launch you into a superman. Landed on my left shoulder but regained composure to slide on on my pucks and shoes. Probably gonna have a big bruise but fuck it because I got the hell back up and went to town on some toeside checks. They'll teach you how to skate well and all the spots. [editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
I've decided that I dislike top mounts. I think it's cause of my short legs. Its suppose to dampen the ride. Soda factory lambchop is my suggestion. [editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
What about this? Got bored tonight, took this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/DH8zn.jpg[/t]
How far can you usually dig into a board before you compromise strength? Like if I were to engrave something?
How far can you usually dig into a board before you compromise strength? Like if I were to engrave something?
Depends on how many plys and what kind of wood. I don't think I'd go any farther than an 1/8"
