do the op except add a pinch of salt and baking powder. and use brown sugar and add a touch more milk, maybe even another teaspoon also BE SURE to mix it well and cook it for a minute/minute-and-a-half when i want a brownie fix i go for that recipe and it never fails me
I just use a 2:2:1:1 ratio of flour, sugar, chocolate powder, and oil. Then add Baking Soda, Baking Powder, and a tiny bit of coffee mix. Then stir in some soy milk till it's as thick as cake batter. It always turns out fine. Dropping in chocolate chips on top makes it amazing, just don't overcook it. If you make one bigger than the current recipe, put it in for 4-5 minutes instead.
Reason why this doesn't work is because the oil/eggs can't bond properly when simply heated in a microwave Helpful suggestions: 1. Use applesauce instead of Oil. Yes, you can substitute oils for applesauce in many baking recipies 2. Add chocolate chips to the mixture 3. Use evaporated milk instead of oil (I think... if I remember). Supposidly the evaporated milk makes for a more cake-like texture because it bonds better in a microwave compaired to the oil 4. Use less egg. when putting the egg in, juggle it around between shells till you get about half of it seperated, and just use half of the egg 5. Add a pinch of salt
I can't stand these things, tried a few different variants and everyone of them has tasted like complete shite.
I shall try it now.
I'd rather just make brownies.
I can't stand these things, tried a few different variants and everyone of them has tasted like complete shite.
ur doin it rong They can taste a bit microwaved if you don't do it right. Don't always follow recipes exactly, change it around how you think it should be if you know what you're doing.
Dont do this, oh god, chocolate sponge much. ate it with icecream, was pretty good i suppose. in a weird way. chocolate sponge :byodood:
Mine turned out very nice, a tad dry but with some cream it would be great
Just tried this. Quite good with ice cream.
I'm makign this tomorrow. OP I will shit in your chimney if this comes out bad.
Just how vital is the flour to this recipe? I used up the last of it yesterday.
What if i only have a oven ?
I've modified this recipe a bit and it really improves the outcome. Instead of using plain oil, mix half and half vegetable oil and melted butter. A splash of almond extract gives a bit more moisture and adds some cherry flavour, and only microwave it for 2:30-2:40 minutes, NOT the indicated 3 minutes. 3 is far too much. I've also experimented with different types of cake using this recipe. For an 'extra chocolate' one, replace the cocoa powder with ovaltine powder. Chocolate Liqueur Cake: Replace 2 of the 3 tablespoons of Milk with Chocolate Liqueur. Keep recipe the same otherwise. Lemon Liqueur Cake: Remove cocoa powder, use 6 tablespoons of flour, replace milk with lemon liqueur, replace vanilla with lemon juice. Coconut Cake: Remove cocoa powder, 6 tablespoons flour (4 tablespoons white flour, 2 tablespoons coconut flour is best if you have it), replace milk with coconut milk, replace chocolate chips with shaved coconut, add more vanilla (just a bit more) I don't know how you people are getting such shit ugly cakes. Mine looks almost exactly like what's in the picture every time. Ideally you want to use a short, wider mug than a thin, taller one. Microwave it for less time, and make sure you mix it enough but don't overmix it. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
Just how vital is the flour to this recipe? [editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
Just how vital is the flour to this recipe? Try my alterations, Autumn. 3 minutes is honestly WAY too long for this. Whoever originally made it probably had their microwave at half power or it was just a piece of shit.

I used to make this but I would always add a bit of cinnamon. Tasted better than it did without the cinammon.
watch this space
I made one of these and it tasted mighty fine Shit camera phone pictures (I had already eaten about half of it before I took these, so it wasn't that small originally) triforce
I've tried multiple recipes and all end in poop flavored "brownie".
I made one but the recipe I followed did not have an egg It was like a chocolate pudding in a cup highly recommend
Made this today. Used the OP's recipe along with Cheesemonkey's tips (with white, not brown sugar though):
do the op except add a pinch of salt and baking powder. and use brown sugar and add a touch more milk, maybe even another teaspoon also BE SURE to mix it well and cook it for a minute/minute-and-a-half
It turned out good. It was half as big as the one in the OP when I dropped it on the plate, it rose when it was being microwaved but the instant the microwave stopped (after 1min 30s) the cake dropped down. Taste was good too. It wasn't a sponge this time.
This is so fucking evil. It's 3:50 AM, I'm starving my ass off, and can't go downstairs to my kitchen without making a shitload of noise.. And I have the ingredients and some vanilla ice cream downstairs. Gahhhh, I foresee hopping into my CVPI and heading to 7-11 in the very near future....
I always imagined those tasting gross, I may have to try making one though.
I just made one and it really didn't taste half as good as some people make it out to be. Maybe I should've used butter instead of oil.
I have to try this sometime.
Instant brownie success=Super smug face. 'Twas a very nice brownie.
