Last November, I set a life changing goal for myself to lose near 60 pounds. I started at 260-270lbs. Now I am quite tall, about 6'2. Most of my fat was in my ass and hips, which imo is the ugliest form of fatassism. It lead me into periods of depression through high school. I am now trying to recover what I fucked up in school that was a result of my condition (senior now).
Anyways, I began running 2 miles. When I started, my time was a fatasstic 26 minutes. Over the past few months I have continued to run and have improved my time by 8-9 minutes, where it stands currently. Often times I go double or nothing and go 4 miles, but my fucking legs are so tired from carrying my fatass.
The results? I'm now down to ~240lbs. My diet was not the best at times but I really have stuck to losing weight. I think my metabolism is to blame because I can really only eat 3 times a day, probably 2, with my schedule. My depression actually started clearing up for a bit when I looked at the scale. I know for a fact my depression is caused by insecurity and weight.
I'd like to move on with my life. I'm joining the USMC when I graduate and obviously need to get in shape. I'd like to get a girlfriend, but if I really want to get a girlfriend I need to be happy with myself. That is where the weight issue comes in again.
I want to start a fasting diet. I've read that it really doesn't burn muscle if you do it correctly, and you can lose some major weight. My goal with this diet is to basically reset my body. Start skinny, even if I do lose muscle (or do minor workouts while dieting to keep mass). I would then build up strength and muscle mass. Now, I am already naturally big guy. I'm a mesomorph with a 22" shoulder span. My upper body would remain pretty big even if I do lose a shit ton of fat from this diet.
What I'm seeking here are some tips. I can almost guarantee I won't eat like crazy and regain the fat. I have great self control over what I eat and what I do.
If you gurus know anything about this diet or have tried it please let me know. I'm serious about this, like I have been serious for the past 4 months.
Here's what you're going to hear a lot: be careful of ketosis.
Your body will go into flip shit mode once you haven't eaten for a day or two. It has negative psychological and definite negative physical effects. My advice is just do a lot of cardio, find a good strength training plan like Stronglifts 5x5 and balance your diet. If you're going to lose weight, have a diet with a caloric deficit. That simple man. Also your metabolism has very little to do with it unless you have a genetic defect or a thyroid disorder. We all have more or less the same metabolic rate, it's just as simple as eat less calories than you use.
Fasting for long periods of time is not very good for your body. The longest period you should really fast for and stay healthy is about 3-4 days. Fasting actually is healthy for small periods of time, because it rids your body of toxins.
Thanks guys. I'll work in a few (small) meals. I haven't had an appetite for the past 2 days, so I'm unsure what's going on atm.

what toxins are we talking about? I think it would do me good to get rid of some of that arsenic just floating around in my body
Detoxification via fasting is a bunch of broscience bullshit. First of all, the food you eat does not contain that many toxins to start with, despite media scaremongering. Secondly, your liver and your kidneys are there for the express purpose of detoxification. Fasting wouldn't help in either of these regards.
detoxing in general is broscience
2 miles in 26 minutes is pretty bloody good if you weigh 260-270lbs IMO.
Most people that weight would be unable to run half a mile.
IMO it's very impressive that you can run 4 miles if you weigh 240lbs. If you were slim I bet you'd make a great runner.
On the topic of fasting, if I was overweight I'd just do regular, intensive exercise (e.g. squat jumps) and remain in a calorie defecit (while making sure you get enough of everything, even fat, which is important for hormone production).
If you still want to fast then this source looks informative:
~20 lbs since november? shiet lol ur going to fast man ur gonna have loose skin

enjoy losing muscle on fasting btw
Doesn't your metabolism slow down when you operate at such a large deficit? So you'd shed poundage at first (bye bye gains) but it will slow down as your metabolism slows down. Then you'll have a harder time keeping weight off because of your slow metabolism.
not enough to matter if you do it right
Well if you lose 50 lbs of any tissue, of course you cannot expect to maintain with the same calories you used to. "Starvation mode" and "super efficient/slow metabolism" generally is a myth.

no fucking kidding
why not just eat healthier? it's the only way to lose weight and keep it off tbh
I'm sneaking in a protein bar about once a day and trying to get at least some nutrients into my system so I can actually use my brain. I'm only talking maybe at most 200 cal a day. I'm also still drinking a ton of water.
Was I really 240lb a few days ago? Just weighed myself this morning:

I actually don't feel hungry. I only feel hungry after I eat something. I literally think this diet has changed my personality... I feel like a completely new person this week...
Also, I'm still exercising.
lol enjoy having the structure of an auschwitz victim with the skin of a dumb obese fuck
