No he was issued AK-74Us. It had a long barrel with a skeleton stock. He was a reserve officer and a commander, so he was issued a longer barrel version. The paratroopers got the AKS-74U
I almost think you're pulling crap out of your ass now. The AKS-74u was and still is issued to crewmen and paratroopers had the longer barreled AKS-74. If he was a reservist I could see him having used an AKMS if anything.
Well my dad trained with the AK-74U. At least that's how he remembers it. He also trained with the AKM, RPG-7, PKM, and Makarov. I'm probably forgetting some things. He said the AKMs were used when he was training to be an officer, mainly because they were really worn out so it didn't matter if the broke, which they never did.
maybe he's confusing the AKMS with the AK-74U from cawwadooty
Listen, that's how my dad remembers it. He may be mistaken I'm not completely sure. I'm just going off what he described to me.
How about you just have him point at pictures on google.
Well I already ordered the gun. And I don't think they have airsoft makarovs anyway (according to him, the real stell makarov sucked. No adjustable sights and a smaller round. TT-33 was way better according to my dad) Ill use it for the uniform. Anyone know what they called the camo they used during the 70s-80s?
afghanka ttsko klmk berezka take your pick
on the topic of russians, really want to do russian loadout, what type of pistols do they use?
on the topic of russians, really want to do russian loadout, what type of pistols do they use?
Infantry and VDV use the Makarov and MP443 which both don't exist in airsoft and they're generally only issued to officers. Spetsnaz can use pretty much any pistol they want. Quite a few of them use Glocks actually.

there's pics of them using glocks, USP's, etc doesn't really matter
My dad knows a couple of Spetz guys. Never stand in front of them with a sharp object. Ever.
I don't really know if i trust this guy. With his combined usage of AK 74U and incorrect knowledge of who gets what weapons, i think he's just shitting. If he can prove it, that's fine, but...
Okay, how should I prove it? My dad still has his shoulder flash and id. Ill try to get a pic.
Honestly, you could probably just correct his memory by looking up the rifles we mentions and having him pick which one he was issued. I'm curious what he had now.
Just ask the branch, and division and year so we can cross-reference it with available materials
Okay Ill try. Hes not too open with this kind of stuff though so if all else fails I'll take a pic of his shoulder flash and id and black out personal info. Ill try to get this stuff out of him during the weekend when he isn't working.
My dad was a BMP commander in the Red Army and hes gonna help me make a loadout that perfectly replicates the stuff he was issued. that is a beta spets look it up
the ak-74u takes many forms but all are equally as bad know your enemy stay vigilant
that is a beta spets look it up
When I think of a Beta Spets I always think of it as having a rail on the bottom of the handguard and not that weird grip.
When I think of a Beta Spets I always think of it as having a rail on the bottom of the handguard and not that weird grip.
it's generally all the super stubby AK47s with AKS74U flash hider, synthetic furniture, and shitty rails also proof that it's an BS: http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=22&products_id=33636

Also, the main one I believe CoD4 based it off of is the JG Beta-F http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=1837 which is pretty much an Beta Spets with the underfolding stock
Okay I dun goofed. It was the AKS-74. Long barrel skeleton folding stock. Plasticky handguard according to him. You may now call me a CoD kiddie.
I want one with the underfolding stock and wood furniture. And then I'd try to make it into one of those guns with the insane rates of fire that aren't fun for people on the other side.

You may now call me a CoD kiddie.
plasticky harndguard? most likely the plum handguard version: which tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru reports:
The reinforced polyamide "plum" magazine (first reported by Peter Kokalis in 1982) became sporadically issued at this time
I just want one of those skeleton stocks because AKs look awesome imo without a stock. Blind fire all day erry day. Edit: seems like his description. I can't talk to him now because hes tired. Ill try to get some info of his unit from his ID. This ID is actually from his time cleaning up at chernobyl. He was a firetruck commander, 4 units under his direction. His units job was to hose down trees, power lines, and anything that was standing up within 15-20 km outside the reactor. He never saw the actual plant.
