Loved this friggen show.
I remember an episode where Team Rocket stole the flame from the Pokémon league and proceeded to toast everyone. I haven't seen an episode with Team Rocket being violent since.
I loved everything having to do with Pokemon when I was a kid. Saw the first 2 movies in theaters and collected and traded so many cards. And the actual Gameboy games, Dear God... no one could take my GBC away from me when I was playing Red, Yellow, and Gold.
First 151 are best.
Did anyone else notice that ash is not getting older at all, he even looks younger each season...
Did anyone else notice that ash is not getting older at all, he even looks younger each season...
It's because he smokes Poke Block powder and eats Poffins.
It's because he smokes Poke Block powder and eats Poffins.
Poor, poor Ash...
You know, for a series that has proven that things such as guns exist (at least in the earlier seasons - god forbid going beyond implied fatalities from falls or explosions now and they live anyway), you'd think Team Rocket would just smack the shit out of Ash directly or shoot him or something instead of capture / attempt to capture Pikachu and then directly battle them or try to run and fail. What's this Best Wishes thing, anyway? The Black/White season?
As a child, I was always rooting for Team Rocket. Also, my favorite Pokemon to this day are Raichu & Clefairy.
Scyther, Magmar, Electabuzz, Wailord, I have too many favorites... I love them all except for Latias since I can never catch her.
I also remember being quite pissed that Ash always ended up releasing every single one of his damn Pokemon. In one episode he even tried to release Pikachu. I understand the writers wanted Ash to use new Pokemon, thus purging the old, but couldn't he have just sent them away to Prof Oak?
Mewtwo and Groudon are the best pokemon. Mewtwo because he kicks ass and kills dozens of people, and Groudon because he has this permanent ANGRY FACE on. GAAAHHHHHHHHHH
I'm surprised no one has noticed that they've dramatically changed previously subtle things like Ash's eye color. His iris color used to be black/not determinant by shade. I instantly caught it. His eyes are now drawn with an emphasized iris which now highlights the color of his eyes, and further contrast was given to him around his pupil outlining. There is no other Pokemon story beyond those threads, boys. None. (Gold, Silver, and Crystal were cool though <3)

Wait, what are the differences between original(japanese) and shit version(american)? What is so special, oh it doesn't evolve or is not inside a ball, how special(/sarcasm). Is there a list that shows the badass things/don't take shit anymore things that TR did(besides stealing something for once, and heard they beat the living shit out of the heroes monsters to the point that they needed medical attention)?
Team Rocket killed cubones mother in the game. I dont see this in the anime
I'm pretty sure Jessie and James have used guns before. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
So I haven't watched it since the main female character was May. Is it still the same cookie cutter episode format everytime or is it changing. Because:
I used to really like the original series when I was a little kid and then when I was about 14 I watched it again, looked at it through a critical lens, and realized it's a fucking terrible show. now I can't speak to any of the new episodes since I only watched the original seasons (like 6 or 8 of them or whatever, the original 151 pokemon, MAYBE 300, but very few episodes of those if any) but I can't imagine that it got any better nothing makes sense - at all. there's a complete lack of character development and it teaches (or not because the plot is totally stagnant and stupid) children terrible morals here's just a random example off the top of my head: team rocket are always after ash and brock and misty because they want ash's pikachu (I think?) because it's apparently sooo special and powerful - even though the only thing that differentiates the fucking rat from the rest of its electric rodent brethren is the fact that ash lets it travel outside the pokeball with him why? team rocket already HAS possibly the most advanced pokemon in the world except for mew/mewtwo - their meowth can FUCKING TALK. IT TAUGHT ITSELF TO TALK you fucking morons. if the profound philosophical implications of this really don't matter to you, at least take it to like a big business (or even your boss, you work for a fucking crime syndicate after all you idiots) and be like "um this pokemon can talk and is smarter than both of us put together, do you want it?" and sell it and become incredibly wealthy. why are you so interested in this stupid 12 year old's dumb pikachu? as an extension of this, meowth taught himself to talk. not only CAN he talk, he TAUGHT HIMSELF to talk. And meowth is waaaay fucking smarter than the two human dipshits he teams up with - he probably only groups with them because he lacks opposable thumbs to open his canned cat food. so pokemon clearly aren't just animals, they're capable of rational thought, intelligent reasoning, and speech. they're on par with humans - and they're kept as slaves, used for battles in trivial dick-waving contests. have you guys ever read that charmander's journal thing on college humor? that very accurately describes what's going on in this fucking show. sure, maybe not ALL pokemon are intelligent, but given the sheer number of species and the fact that a fucking cat is capable of teaching himself to talk and is smarter than his human "keepers", there must be a LOT more intelligent pokemon that are being kept as slaves there are so many things about this show that are fucking terrible. the practical excuse for awfulness is "it's just a children's show - they don't have to understand, so the creators and writers don't have to care". sure, that works, I guess. it worked on me when I was a chitlin. but come on, is that really acceptable? there was a LOT of quality children's programming in the 90s - Animaniacs is the perfect example but there are plenty more. just because it's a kid's program doesn't mean it has to be poorly made and horribly written. the games are fucking awesome though.
It would be interesting if they took this turn in the plot. They could slowly build the idea that pokemon aren't just tools for ego-stroking competitions and are more intelligent then previously thought while keeping the shows kid friendly look. The generation that fell in love with pokemon has grown up. Maybe the cartoon should start doing the same. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss104/MegaGrambo/PokemonHostageTaking.jpg[/img_thumb]
That was edited out of the US version because 4kids thought it'd be too violent.
Eh, I'm pretty sure that's been a major theme since the very first fucking episode dude. Ash can pretty much speak Pika for one.

Also, the new badass TR may not exist in the shit/american version.
God this series is fucking horrible. I've never seen such a boring show with so much disturbing cross dressing.
Because the origonal has less cross dressing.
I think there was only 3 instances of crossdressing in the entire series.
Epilepsy up in a bitch. Photosensitive warning should be self evident.
151 4 lyfe
251, G/S was the shit too, come on
Epilepsy up in a bitch. It just seems idiotic.
Just make a goddamn finale movie or some shit. Isn't it about time this child enters the real world?? He's been 12 for 20 years.
One thing I don't understand is why they even run it still. I mean, the kids who watched it originally... aren't kids anymore. So they didn't get any story conclusion to that. And the kids who watch it today... they're too young to have seen any of the other crap so they get plopped down into the middle of an ongoing story. It makes no sense.

None of his old Pokemon are generally seen till the League and I guess kids need to figure out for themselves there's been previous seasons. The story in Pokemon has no continuity to it in regards to seasons. The show is literally going nowhere from season to season.

I remember that 95% of the episodes followed the same, find new Pokemon, Team Rocket kidnaps Pikachu progression. However, the episodes at the Pokemon League or at gyms were actually pretty good, especially because there was an overarching story to those bits. I remember there was like a whole episode building up to Ash vs Gary, which then lasted for at least 2 episodes. I really liked that. Though I saw an episode a few months ago and the formula has definately stagnated. Makes me wish that there was a Pokemon game based on the anime world though (i.e. the world is realistically scaled i.e. huge, wild Pokemon can be seen in the wild, battles take place in the world map, its in 3D and from a third person perspective). That would be awesome.
Well, there's always recurring characters.
Even that's disappeared in the latest season Best Wishes. They basically wrote out any of the old characters from the story, so seeing anybody besides Professor Oak and Ash's mother is unlikely.
