Good thread idea? I'll start with Santana - Abraxas You're expecting vibrant music with some kind of "explosive/psychedelic" feel? That's not it... It's still a classic in its own right though. on the other side of the coin, this is an album which is much better than its cover Now you.
Most of Cannibal Corpses albums...
love the minimalistic album art, but this (to me) is king crimson's second worst album
This cover is dire, but the music is pretty damn good.
The Microphones - Song Islands Good music but I don't like the album art.
For a second I thought you were going to begin hating on Abraxas. Love that album. Uh...I don't really have any in particular, but I never really liked The Joker album cover. It was just like "what"
Creeps me the fuck out, but maybe after making that music it drained them to the point that they looked like gargoyles or some shit. :v: [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] argh the veins :(
it's cool iconic cover IMO
-snip- Didn't realize this was for BAD music.
This should also be a albums that sound like their covers cause I'd nominate these: and
yeah there should really be a standalone thread for albums that sound like their artwork. that'd probably be a favorite thread of mine
This should also be a albums that sound like their covers cause I'd nominate these: and
Totally different topic, by posting those in here you're making out that either the music or artwork is bad for both of those albums, which isn't the case for either of them. I agree with you though, they are definitely albums that sound like they look, if it's possible. [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline] Who wants to do the honours in making that thread?
I've been thinking of a thread like that for a while. I'll make it if no one else will.
Go for it.
The Void's Last Stand by Rakash not sure what I was expecting. something fucked up turns out it's just boring prog with really terrible vocals
I dunno, makes me think of Rush, so I wouldn't be disappointed by your description.
I dunno, makes me think of Rush, so I wouldn't be disappointed by your description.
doesn't compare at all to rush trust me
this would be the vice verse, absolutely atrocious artwork
Most of Cannibal Corpses albums...
The album art is shit and their music is shit. Wrong thread 4 u.
-snip- Didn't realize this was for BAD music.
I didn't mean it had to be bad music > Good cover. I could change the title, but I'm confuse.
[not even worth supplying music example] Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures art > music The art isn't even that good!! Barton Fink - Gear music > art
I personally find your opinion on Joy Division wrong.

No denying that album art is horrendously good. The music is great, but when you look at that cover you want something that vibrates the soul. :)
I personally find your opinion on Joy Division wrong.
We the people resent that statement.
I personally find your opinion on Joy Division wrong.
he's not saying the music is bad, just that it's not expected.
shhh AK'z You don't have to speak for me let me handle this FUCK YOU OPAL But really, didn't enjoy that album at all. I did base my whole opinion of the album on one listen when I was in a bad mood. "[not even worth supplying music example]" was me saying it was bad and that everybody should know it's bad so I don't have to waste my time backing up my submission. I got banned from sputnikmusic for posting a really poor review of it and rated it 1/5 for awful. I got a lot of hate and then was removed from the site. Not exactly kicking and screaming. [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline] Album wasn't a disappointment either though. I knew what Joy Division were like so I knew what I was getting myself into. Well kind of. I guess I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was on that first listen. Have been meaning to listen to it again and actually pay attention. Like I said I wasn't in a great mood when I listened the first time so everything kind of went over my head and the impression I got was 40 minutes of UUUUUUUHHHHH MMMMUUUUUUUHHHH HHHHHHNNNNNNNN Surprised I even still have the album on my computer actually. One day.
Dude, leave your rant about Joy Division out of this.. It is a highly praised album, but the energy of the post-punk movement is preminent in that. Fair enough, not everyone can enjoy it because simply "not relating to the music". Punk/Post-Punk may not be for you. Try New Order, which is Joy Division but with new vocalist. But I doubt that will accomplish much since you do hngg a lot :) [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline] why judge it based only on one listen too? When you dislike music, you need to understand entirely why you didn't like the experience. There's nothing wrong with disliking it, but I don't get your opinion. :>
I don't hate the album ;o I just make a thing out of how I had a really bad first impression of it and I constantly exaggerate that for my own amusement. I reckon I would like it if I gave it a proper listen and heard what was even being sung. I like music like it so it's not the genre probably. Anyway yeah back to regular thread business.
I'm with you, the first time I heard it I was confused. I never thought I would enjoy it afterwards, but when I have the sudden urge to hear it I kept hearing it and realised it was all I heard. Also the Closer album. The drums on that. :O
Unknown Pleasures clicked for me the first time. It seems I'm the only person that happened for.
