DIY Light pole + lighting + Softbox. Did it today, it does it's job well enought, its a little bit hardier to do, in fact, just the softbox was almost impossible to make. It took a lot of tape to stand still. That shit's so ghetto, true stuff.
I'm planning on making an intervalometer to shoot some neato timelapses, curse you nikon and your goddamn proprietary connections, wish it had a normal 2.5mm plug or something instead of THIS [t]http://www.hiviz.com/kits/instructions/images/RSC/rsc-074_lrg.jpg[/t] Also thinking about making a little pinhole camera and gutting some old LED flashlights to make a macro ringlight

With the DIY shoulder rigs, wouldn't adding heavy materials be helpful? Since of all the diy tuts out there no one really puts weights on it, yet actual rigs are a little heavy.

jesus that was a lot of work to essentially get a reverse ring that has auto focus and aperture (and remove the initial functionality of the lens in the process)

Needs a diffuser. Home-Depot here sells 340lumen flashlights for $60. They might make good photo lights.

It just oozes money savings.
I'm sure most anyone who's done research on rigs has stumbled across this, but for those who haven't it looks like a good list of DIY videos.
Someone broke a chair on new years and I did this [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/K2CdB.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
Question is, how stable are these rigs? My holding is more-than enough to stable movement when I walk, but I've been dying to make a more decent rig.

Yeah big difference, dully noted, thanks.
I just posted this in the creative photography thread but I guess it fits here too since its a reasonably cheap DIY Macro Lens. Inspired by This: http://www.flickr.com/groups/89209252@N00/discuss/72157600032755971/ I decided to pick up a couple of cheap extension tubes and an old folding camera and set up something similar. This was the result (Warning cell phone pictures): Its a little tricky to get focused, but I am pleased with the way these first few test shots came out. Anyone have a Merlin style DIY tutorial? I want to see if FP has ever done a more ghetto version. I am hesitant to try welding.
