Written by Daniel Keyes in 1958, Flowers for Algernon is about a mentally challenged (read: retarded) man who works a menial job, and who was chosen to undergo a surgery to increase his intelligence threefold. I don't want to spoil the story by telling any more of it, but bad things happen. :3: Has anyone else read the novel or short story, and if so, did you enjoy it? Link below to the short story. This book made me fucking laugh.
A friend of mine suggested this to me a while ago and I read it. Definitely one of my favorite short stories... which are all science fiction, coincidentally. Having a science fiction treasury will do that.
Good story, shitty film adaption.

It was a great story. I cried :(
I read it in English this year, it was sad. Really deep stuff.

I love this story, even moreso because I read it for fun.
It was expanded into a book, which was good, until I had to study it.
I remember reading this is middle school and crying at the end, I just recently re-read the book and I felt really sad. Such a good book.

A sad story, very touching.
The movie has one scene that makes you wonder if you had some shrooms slipped into your last meal. But a great story, for sure.
Read it in english class I was all "what" because I had no idea what the fuck was going on, I think I'll read it again
Read the book. Seen the movie. Did a play on it in our theatre class. I played Joe, the baker. I happen to like the story and thought the movie was decent. Overall I suggest people to read it, because it's an interesting, little book.
I read this in English Class, good book. Daniel Keyes' style of writing is hilarious.

This is a literary legend. I read this years ago. Brought back a few memories.
