The soundscapes... the visuals, they all provide for a timeless sense of influence throughout. The acting isn't the GREATEST, but it still makes you feel.

It makes for a unique "cultured" view of Japan, although some may dislike it for it's biase (the Japanese mostly) it's one of the few worthy originals of the last decade.
