A few things to consider for everyone in the thread/ taking up the challenge:- If you're still craving for porn after not masturbating for a while, did you really fix anything? If you're still craving for beer for years after 'beating alcoholism', did you really fix anything? If you're still craving for cake after not being a fatty, did you really fix anything?
With perseverence you can change your brain addictions, unless it's pathological, such as obesity that runs by genes. Alcohol and porn aren't pathologic. You just have an increased expression of dopamine receptors on your nerve endings, so you always need more and more stimulus to get excited and to relieve cravings. It then starts to ge physiological. And it's really hard to stop, like in the case of using heroin, as an example, bear in mind. Edit: Don't compare heroin to porn, it was an example. All I'm saying is that if you crave porn/masturbation 1 time a week it's okay. Daily it's already pushing the limit, go work out. Edit: Dumbed the explication down for people to understand. I'm an actual medical student.
Porn isn't hard to quit. I just picture previous sexual situations that happened in real life. [strike]I'll start on friday because I'll be high as fuck.[/strike] Scratch that, just jacked off. Now I begin. Put me down. No masturbation or anything.

Oh god. I kept all my porn pics right in my downloads folder, had to wander through and selectively control click each one in order to delete them, t'was like walking on a minefield.
Survived day one!
Oh man, OP sure has conned him some grade A suckers.

That's why I advocate that instead of putting huge amounts of effort into what amounts to nothing more than covering up symptoms.
This is actually true. Whenever I whack it the next day I am tired and can't concentrate as well.
Oh man, OP sure has conned him some grade A suckers.
yeah i bet hes making heaps of money off it... do you even know what "conned" means?
Sign me up [editline]17th April 2012[/editline] Shit, I already lost. Sorry.
Meh not like I actually use my dick for its intended women seeding purposes, so wont hurt to try.
I have decided to keep my hands off until I get laid. Last time was january, and before that it was june and before that it was february. So I guess statistically it will be in about 4-5 months. :suicide:
Oh man, OP sure has conned him some grade A suckers.
yeah i got them good didnt i lmao
I'm also not fapping at all; do I get bonus points?
This thread seems like "don't masturbate because it feels good and we don't want that"
I've gone nearly 48 hours and haven't even had the urge to watch porn. It's probably going to get harder in the coming days, but for now I don't feel any different than normal. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline]
This thread seems like "don't masturbate because it feels good and we don't want that"
Technically it should be "Don't masturbate or watch porn too often because it might damage your health." Masturbation and porn are fine, just keep it moderated. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] And by the way there is something to be said about a person who has the willpower to deny themselves pleasure. It's a way of disciplining yourself, strengthening your character and shit. Not just masturbation, but being able to deny yourself of most pleasures for however long you want or need.
Started this yesterday, got a girlfriend today. I must have incredible luck.
Started this yesterday, got a girlfriend today. I must have incredible luck.
Is her name "fleshlight"?
Is her name "fleshlight"?
Hehehehehe.
I've already decided I wouldn't watch porn/masturbate for 6 months, so count me in! I'm only at 25 hours if anyone's wondering. I've gone weeks without before and noticed pretty huge changes, so hopefully this will help in the long run.
This has got to be literally the dumbest thing ever. Most of this stuff about porn rotting your brain is spread by the conservative christian crowd, seriously, go see how much real science [peer-reviewed shit] points to this conclusion. Like, seriously. More confidence and less anxiety? I'd argue that just the opposite is true. People who watch porn are way less sexually anxious since they KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING.
Stop fapping those wings.
I find myself not enjoying most of the porn anyways(shit just doesn't gets me as horny as it did a few years ago), so why not? Guess it can't hurt.
If you're still craving for beer for years after 'beating alcoholism', did you really fix anything?

- your liver - your life

If you're still craving for cake after not being a fatty, did you really fix anything?

- your diabetes - your appearance

If you're still craving for porn after not masturbating for a while, did you really fix anything?

- your sensitization - your mental health
You missed my point. I don't consider an addiction beaten if you still have cravings for whatever you were addicted to afterwards. That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.

My uncle still craves chewing tobacco 8 years after he quit.

That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.
Isn't refusing yourself relief better than just continuing to shovel cake in your face or drinking constantly? Dealing with some cravings is better than dealing with whatever the effects of giving into something negative does to you. It sounds like you are just out to argue no matter how incoherent you sound. :v: Edit: Also I'd like to think that if you keep refusing yourself whatever it is you want that is negative then you would lose the cravings entirely for most things. If you can't stop eating cake and you just stopped eating it I don't think you would have cravings for a very long amount of time.
Edit: Also I'd like to think that if you keep refusing yourself whatever it is you want that is negative then you would lose the cravings entirely for most things. If you can't stop eating cake and you just stopped eating it I don't think you would have cravings for a very long amount of time.
There's a reason why addictions are considered life long ordeals. Once you wire your brain to like something, it will crave it for the rest of your life. If you are a compulsive eater, you will always be a compulsive eater. Fighting the compulsions will just get easier over time. Likewise, most people who quit cigarettes end up starting up again within a month, even though their body has no physical dependency anymore. Once your brain is addicted, you will always have cravings.
I decided I was going to try to quit fapping. First thing I did when I came home from school today was fap :suicide:
This thread seems like "don't masturbate because it feels good and we don't want that"
Except you can masturbate, it's just if you are addicted to porn it would be advisable to avoid masturbation during "recovery"
Does it count if it's softcore porn..
I don't consider an addiction beaten if you still have cravings for whatever you were addicted to afterwards.
In context of what we're doing, does it really matter?
That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.
Are you implying that anything that's 'relieving' is healthy/beneficial? [editline]17th April 2012[/editline]
Does it count if it's softcore porn..
Yeah, porn is porn - your subconscious brain doesn't care if there's a penis in the picture or not
