Someone said something I love is wrong? I BETTER TELL THEM IT'S A RIDICULOUS IDEA TO MAKE MYSELF FEEL BETTER!
It's hilarious when he says "People who watch porn are way less sexually anxious since they KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING." Because porn is totally like real sex!
I'm against any attempt to "groom" your mind. Do whatever feels right. If your life's falling apart because you use porn as a crutch, then, if you're being honest with yourself, you'll realize this and correct it. Otherwise, it's ridiculous to try and make things more exciting by doing less exciting things. Further, this all just sounds similar to a miracle diet or exercise program that's going to change your horrible life by unlocking the ~secret~ of why your life is shit. With an underpinning of self-loathing and "things that feel good must be bad for me and I deserve my crappy life, therefore if I abstain, I'll be rewarded somehow". The whole thing drips of intellectual decay and human smallness. I'm disgusted. As a side note, I mostly fantasize for masturbation material.
Even if it's the placebo effect at work, does it really matter if we're happier, more confident and perhaps even healthier as an end result? I'm not sure why you feel this way towards the entire endeavour, seeing as clearly it'll have a net positive effect, and the entire 'disgusted' aspect simply sounds as if you don't have any experience with it (which, by the footnote, you don't). It can be related to feeling disgust for the autistic or mentally ill, simply because you haven't been in that situation.
i dont watch porn i masterbate to pictures of food
It shows you have much of a problem it really is, though I'm not sure if what the video says is true, when there's people trying to defend their porn usage. Just the fact that there's people who enjoy watching women literally choke on dicks and such is a problem. I don't watch that crap, I try hard to find real sex. I don't feel like this really applies to me, but what's the worst that can happen? I don't watch porn? Oh, no! Count me in. Do you suggest that life is simply about being happy and calm and productive? That's not life, that's death. I feel the exact same disgust at this threads idea as I feel when I think about my sunday school classes as child, where they attempted to program us into being afraid to think and feel. You might be surprised, but their assertions about porn more or less exactly followed your own. Any attempt to control human experience and expression, makes me disgusted, really. You do realize that the whole "dopamine release" shit is used to claim that video games, tv, movies, and music are addictive and unhealthy too, right? Porn is just another medium, it may not have a large artistic tradition, but it is just as holy as the other four I just mentioned.
simply sounds as if you don't have any experience with it (which, by the footnote, you don't)
I said "mostly". I think it should obvious that I have watched porn before, as evidenced by the fact that this is the 21st century, and how I've already suggested I'm a person who isn't withholding towards myself.
Happiness gained through control and destruction on oneself is not worth it. Do you suggest that life is simply about being happy and calm and productive? That's not life, that's death.
How is this self destruction
Happiness gained through control and destruction on oneself is not worth it. Do you suggest that life is simply about being happy and calm and productive? That's not life, that's death.
Control and destruction of oneself? What exactly am I destroying by not watching porn? Death isn't happy and calm and productive, death is just nothingness. What's life to you?
i've tried this and it works
Let's do this
I tried 2 times already today and I am trying again.
I tried 2 times already today and I am trying again.
Do you want me to move you directly to the failure list or what? Just kidding - good luck!
count me in.
No thanks, i'll just rather fap and cry rather than fap at all.
I'm up for this
I'm gonna try this
But what about watching porn and using dragon dildos. No erectile dysfunction there.
It's hilarious when he says "People who watch porn are way less sexually anxious since they KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING." Because porn is totally like real sex!
Well He's got a BIT of a point there. I definitely know what goes where and what women are supposed to like and shit like that from watching porn. Granted I watch amateur porn not that hardcore porn shit. I definitely know more about what to do with women and sex in general than if I, say, grew up without it.
Dude, anything close to the real thing is always magnitudes better than porn. Making out? Handjobs? Boobs? So much better than porn and so much better to get off to. I'm not desensitized in the least by porn in comparison to the real thing. The only thing it desensitizes me to is other porn. I've not looked at porn in so many months, and I've been single for nearly 5 months. Why? because I don't need it. I've surpassed the need for it. I've seen enough of the real thing that my mind does the work. I see the logic behind your arguments and your reasoning is sound, for most people. But for me? Doesn't make sense as its not harmful to me, mentally or otherwise.
Hey op! Count me in. I promise to be truthful about my eventual failure.
Control and destruction of oneself? What exactly am I destroying by not watching porn? Death isn't happy and calm and productive, death is just nothingness. What's life to you?
When I say death, I'm not talking about when your heart stops beating and your brain dies. I'm talking about the absence of life. Life, being when you love and trust yourself enough to let your logic, creativity, and passion go free. To control oneself is destruction of oneself in that it is destruction of your relationship with yourself. Make no mistake; controlling and disciplining yourself is a sleight on an entity that does, functionally, exist. And as it would with a relationship with a person you were intimately close with, it only serves to estrange and distance that person from yourself. Eventually, these acts will create a certain sickness of the soul; I imagine this happens once you truly realize you'll never be free of your own fear and self loathing.
I once went 12 years without fapping.

I felt gross doing it, and I'm sure many other participants did as well - the only reason we did it is because it was easier. Controlling myself doesn't mean miscommunicating, or blocking out communication, or starving myself of food. It means controlling sexually motivated urges and trying to regulate hormonal imbalance in such a way that causes a net, end result of being happier and more content than I am now. You have the perspective that there will be no net result and we should live for the present, ie. furious masturbation and continued sensitization to porn, while I have the perspective that a net result will occur in such a way that we'll all be better people.
Can you clarify; Are you saying that when you watch porn, you feel disgust?
A sort of "why am I doing this to myself" often occurred after watching it.
I can't take any of ryandaniels' posts seriously because there's a fleshlight making fun of me next to them
I had a go at a no fap month last year, and I got to 20 days. I had no knowledge of this "Your brain on porn" concept before. And during that time I noticed major changes, I was more confident and everything that's said to happen did happen. This was no placebo as I had never heard of YBOP before, as I mentioned earlier, so give this a try if you are seriously sceptical, because this is not bullshit. I'm certainly rebooting, add me to the list.

I actually haven't fapped in more than two months and I don't feel the slightest urge to do so. Dear god what's wrong with me Oh there's a list? Count me in, I guess
