Working on a new picture: [thumb]https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/AlleyFight_resize2.png?_subject_uid=31745825&w=AAA1AgEKV7SfT7XivXoL1oJ6o9tM2X3cQ04R2YWGXFYcQA[/thumb] (also I'm working on two different monitors, but I'm not sure which one of them is the most correct color wise. Does the picture seem warm or cool to you?)
Would creative writing also be accepted?
Yeah, a few people have posted creative writing and poems and prose and shit in the last iteration of this thread.
Okay guys, I really liked the grunge but this one fits the concept more.
Maybe it's just me, but can't even focus my eyes on anything because of these stripes.
Here, have a recipe (in the loosest sense of the word) in comic form. Try it, it's great
Maybe it's just me, but can't even focus my eyes on anything because of these stripes.
Weird, I have no problem with it. Does anyone else here have the same problem?
I have a cataract in my main eye and it seems fine to me. Anti, you might have an eye problem.
Well, maybe, but i doubt that. I have a pretty good vision (which is surprising considering how much time i spend staring at screens). The problem is not that i can't focus my eyes at all, it's more like these stripes make my glance slide away along them to the very edge of the picture.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32719274/smaller.jpg[/t] revisiting this dude here. uuhhh. hows the colors like? too much? many? bad pallette? anything is welcome

They could be a little more faint, or maybe remove the stripes over the skeleton guy? Or something. I don't know.
This is a symptom of Venetian Blindness, you should go to a doctor to get tested.
Well shit. It's on my top priority list now. Can't find any description of this disorder though. Is this it's actual name? edit: Wait, i'm looking at this picture right now and it looks fine to me. Wtf really.

So, I made myself a book cover for my story. I'd like some tips on how to improve it. The picture itself... I'm proud of it, but it could be better. It was taken with a cellphone (yeah, I know) but I would like some advice on it anyway, if possible. -snip far too big- Anyone remember how to do thumbnails?

Okay, second try. So, the cover needs work, looking for C&C on it (if I should mess with the text or even just hire an artist to make me an actual one). [t]http://i.imgur.com/hO96YgU.png[/t]
Is it being self published or are you sending it to a publisher? If you're self publishing, hire an artist. It's essential to get somebody with training in design when it comes to these things - there are so many things that need to be thought about and considered when it comes to a design. People will always judge a book on its cover! If you're sending it to publishing houses, they'll organise the cover art themselves, so don't worry about it at this point.

Essentially, it's a website with a whole bunch of people doing the same. But honestly, I think I just need to do that. I like the photo, but I have no designing skills.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/hO96YgU.png[/t]
http://www.ted.com/talks/chip_kidd_designing_books_is_no_laughing_matter_ok_it_is Here is a nice TED talk by a book cover designer talking about his thought process a bit. I can't really say a whole lot about the book cover since I don't know what the book is about at all. All I can really say is: Image: Is this image relevant at all to the content? Or are you just using it because you "like it" Typography: Could pretty much be completely redone, look into typography basics like tracking kerning and leading. Font choice could be a lot better too, and the text itself seems to be aliased. Also the left margins are a bit small (specifically the left one) You might also want to check out the graphic design thread for more specific design-based critique. (It has actual career graphic designers in it too): http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1446558 [editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
This magical invention called instant hot chocolate.
Which is great to put in coffee. Haven't tried it in tea though. Could be interesting.
I should have specified; cocoa mix. I have no idea how it'd taste if you just put in straight up ground cocoa beans I make my hot cocoa with water, not milk though
Oh, that's different. Also the only reason you can make it with water instead of milk is that american hot chocolate mix has powdered milk in it nvm who cares this isn't art related
