Also, why Raiders of the Lost Ark exclusively? Why not just Indian Jones?
From Dusk To Dawn ROFL are you kidding me right now!? Anyway from that list I haven't seen about 50, a lot of them are really old movies that I usually get bored watching.
I'm not the biggest movie watcher, but I was kind of surprised how much i had actually watched. There are a few on there I want to watch but just can't be bothered to watch and a few I have watched I need to re-watch as they were either fucking amazing or I was on the verge of sleep while watching it.
just because some people have bad taste doesnt mean we should cater to them
People don't have bad taste. Just different taste. It's not a difficult concept to understand.
This is a great list. Nostalgia'd over brillant movies and looking forward to crossing every single movie off the list. Watched Truman Show again today :3

Seriously the reason I saw From Dusk Till Dawn was because it was on TV when I was flipping through channels and I was like oooh a crime drama with George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino this should be good BUT IT WASN'T A CRIME DRAMA IT WAS A PIECE OF SHIT.
This list is SERIOUSLY lacking Wes Anderson and Andrei Tarkovsky
A good portion of these movies I haven't seen sound like shit. And where is Mad Max?
What is Equilibrium doing there, that movie sucked.
Thunderdome
I'm about to watch Taxi Driver.
Ugh I really want to watch The Six Sense but I don't even know if I should bother since I've had the ending ruined multiple times.
I'm sure Jurassic Park was awesome when it came out, but I feel like if I watch it today, it'll look shitty because I'm much more used to awesome CGI.
Uhm, what? Jurassic Park is pretty much still up to par with today's CGI. In fact, I've seen quite a few recent films (think 07-09) that look almost comically bad compared to some of the stuff in Jurassic park. The only CGI scene in Jurassic Park that I only recently noticed started to look kinda wonky, is the very first scene with the brachiosaur, but the rest is still great and believable.
Love Actually if it hasn't been mentioned
I erased the ones I've seen. Some of them are shitty though. But I'm going to watch some of them soon because I'm plowing through the IMDB top 250 http://www.250films.net/list/Trooth/ More than halfway through. Oh, The Orphanage should be checked off too. I didn't recognize it because for some reason the Spanish title was used
I've only seen like five of those :saddowns:
I get that it's the list of essential movies not best movies, but 28 Days Later over Dawn or Night of the Living Dead is just crazy. What the Chris though it has Pandorum, Cube, Crank, Commando and Starship Troopers whats going on??? Seriously why is Kingdom of Heaven up there over Gladiator. Actually forget it the whole list is screwd up :(.
What is Equilibrium doing there, that movie sucked.
I agree with this, but I must say that the action sequences, though far and few, were really well choreographed.
Why is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World not up there, it's better than a few things on the list but anyway, here's mine; [editline]28th December 2010[/editline] Oh bollocks, just realised that Ladyhawke is on there... Yeah, I've seen it.
Red solid square = Seen Green hollow square = Want to see/Own but haven't watched/ Recall seeing but not sure I don't completely agree with this list but I need to get around to watching all the green ones seeing as film is my career of choice. :v:
Why is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World not up there, it's better than a few things on the list
That means those things shouldn't be on the list not the other way around. [editline]27th December 2010[/editline] Well anyway here's what I have, most of the things that I haven't seen on this list I probably won't see any time soon or at all.
There are some interesting choices, quite a few seem to be on here more for the sake of been important or well known than good. [img_thumb]http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/3180/54140997.png[/img_thumb]
Chances are a movie is well known or considered to be important due to its quality you know.
Ugh I really want to watch The Six Sense but I don't even know if I should bother since I've had the ending ruined multiple times.
He's sees dead people and they don't know they they're dead. :o
He's sees dead people and they don't know they they're dead. :o
Walking around like normal people? :o
Dog Soldiers was pretty awesome but I'm confused at that list placing that on there, and not the directors other, far superior film, The Descent. I fucking love that movie. Pretty good list though anyways.
I just realized Suspiria isn't on that list... it basically started the whole low-budget horror film thing... oh yeah, and Carrie is a good movie too.
Why is Pandorum on there? Shit movie was shit. Also, needs Inception, Avatar, and both Trons. Pretty complete list, though.
v for vendetta and kick ass weren't that amazing either
yes they were [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
also I just noticed; starship troopers wasn't that great either
no it isn't it's amazing
Starship Troopers is terrible. That's the only reason I watched it. I only watch Escape From New York half in jest too. Same with Dog Soldiers.
you've just said escape from new york is bad (or anything less than a classic) your credibility has just gone out the window [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
The fuck is They Live doing on there?
okay okay what the fuck how can any of you people hate on John Carpenter classics this is ridiculous [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
From Dusk To Dawn ROFL are you kidding me right now!? Anyway from that list I haven't seen about 50, a lot of them are really old movies that I usually get bored watching.
inside this thread: people who can't appreciate somewhat campy cult classics regardless of whether you think they are good, they are ESSENTIAL TO SEE IN YOUR LIFETIME. [editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
Why is Pandorum on there? Shit movie was shit. Also, needs Inception, Avatar, and both Trons. Pretty complete list, though.
no, it just needs inception. both trons and avatar are shit but yes pandorum should not be there
