yes just when you watch a movie and there are tattooed black men bench pressing, it's the music you hear in the background as the creative director does about 6/7 different camera cuts of the yard THAT type of music

Can someone recommend some good grime artists, like wiley?
Snoop Dogg.
I actually love the premsies of rap. Spontaneous poetry requires ingenuity. But why must it always convey stupid messages? It's either about being better than others, sex or money. It has such great potential, but it's thrown away, it's completely acceptable in rap battles, most are very witty, but I get tired of listening to "Fuck bitches with wads of money sprinkled with cocaine erryday". Or maybe I'm completely wrong.
Part of being an MC is being (or at least making yourself out to be) as much of a badass as possible. You can't move the crowd if you're just some guy with a microphone.

But the emotion should come from the music itself, not the guy who's playing it. And why must you be badass to move the crowd? Why not any other personality that's just as vibrant? True, I don't listen to a lot of rap music, but I do know that the classics (the ones thought of to be the best) are considered to be 2pac and Biggie Smalls, and the sort, right? And if I remember correctly, their music is centered mostly about warfare and the whole East/West caost thing, right? Again, if I'm wrong, correct me and I'll be on my way.
I hate when radio stations know damn well a song has 40 swears in it and play it on the air anyways Half the song is like "I told this *silence* to get the *silence* out my *silence* face before I send his whole *silence* back to *silence*"
There are a lot of personalities in hip-hop. It's just there's also a lot of clones too.
Can you refer me to some, who's lyrics aren't about something completely shallow? I actually like this song. True, it doesn't convey a message, but it doesn't try to, it doesn't ask you to evaluate it, it merely asks you to listen and see if you find it auditively beautiful.

What's wrong with it? Would you not qualify it as Rap or Hip-hop? Also, I checked out octagon's "Earth People". I actually liked it, I very much liked the abstract lyrics. Could you find me some more? Maybe I'm just stereotyping rap. Also, can you find me some that aren't so lyrics-focused? Since it's always on the same tone, it gets a bit boring.
Can you refer me to some, who's lyrics aren't about something completely shallow?
Sure. MURS Intuition KRS-One Luckyiam (feat Aesop Rock and Slug from Atmosphere) Non-prophets A lot of rap songs have at least a central topic. It's just not every song is written in the same form. Some are introspective and conscience, some are made to insult other people or things, some are made to defend those same things, and some are made just to make sure that everyone within earshot knows that you're the shit. There's a lot you can do when all you gotta do is recite poetry on top of a beat.

reverbnation.com/hightemp someone i know
No, it's okay for a music to be all about the sounds, but not okay when it tries to convey a message but it's a bad one. Also, to the guys that gave me some referrals: I liked those, actually. Thanks for expanding my horizons.
