If anyone is skilled at making hip-hop beats in FL Studio, preferrably close to the songs on Eminem's "Infinite" album, kindly PM me or something. :v: I need advice.
Anyone know of any good female rappers? I've heard a few occasionally in songs and they sound pretty fly. Any names?
Dessa
whos heard of charles hamilton? guy is crazy as fuck, but his lyrics are amazing, check out this song, he samples the boss theme song from sonic the hedgehog and turns it into an amazing beat. check out his philosophy on life that he bases on the sonic the hedgehog game. its really crazy, but its kinda cool. C Ham isn't a female rapper, he just wears purple a lot.
The hardest thing about producing music by far (to me), is getting a good sound. I have massive and some strings. The strings sound decent, but I can't make jack shit with the synth. All I made was a decent bass synth. I can't make anything else sound decent at all :(

ya trust me on that if you want i can post something about it and help you out
That would be helpful. I would appreciate it.
I think Hilltop Hoods are good :)
Getting the advice? haha
more like making the advice [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] http://soundcloud.com/thisispain/heyguys it's cheesy and kind of awful but it makes my point lol the bass synth: simple, take a DS-1 (extra points if it's a fuzzbox), lower the fuzz but up the tone, then take something with a quick release, like a piano or some other keyboard instrument, bam, easily could be mistaken for a 2000$ virtual analogue dickdevice drums: even more simple, my Casio has a rhythm section, cut up the drums in a sampler, then do some more shit i don't know. add a second drum loop for colour beboop synth: take the bell button and add a lot of delay, make sure to pan them left and right, adds some niceness to the sound annoying MEEP thingy i stole from RZA: take something with high sustain, put it through a vibrato unit, then turn on the slide function little polysynth scratch thingy: just find the cheesiest sounding noise on the thing and fuck with it [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] the point is be creative the older shit was made with the most garbage equipment ever in fact, if you listen to dub, a lot of it is just casio keyboards because they were really broke when they were making such music [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] all of that was made with this little baby:
what do you guys think about latino rap??? like delinquent habits?
like Reggaeton? It's a little too much for me. Cunninlynguists are not a little too much for me however

It sounds like a piano with some distortion on it. I can totally appreciate the whole using retro sounds and lots of pedals thing, but saying that it's better than learning synthesis is a bit silly. Yes you can get lots of interesting sounds, but the range of sounds you can get is a lot more limited, and as soon as you need something that doesn't really have a lofi sound to it you're fucked.

I really like some of Big Boi's new album. For those that are unfamiliar with Big Boi, he was one of the rappers in Outkast. Anyway, here is my favorite song on the album: "Shutterbug" Sucks that it's censored, though :(

[editline]12th January 2011[/editline] I hadn't listened to it in a while and had my volume really high accidentally - the glass smashing sound made me fall backwards off my chair. Was so cool.

I can't wait for it either. He gets a lot more attention than Big Boi as far as Outkast is concerned, so I'll be happy when Andre also releases a solo. I haven't gotten into much of Outkast besides songs like Ms. Jackson and Hey Ya, mostly because I don't know where to start on the discography. It feels a bit overwhelming with how many albums they have.

I don't know how many of you have heard of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, but every track they've put out thus far has been great, for me.
Anyone else creaming over Nicki Minaj? At first I had total disregard for her rhymes. When I saw her at the BET Cypher I thought she was annoying but shits on Lil Kim
I didn't like this album at first but this song is slappin lately
Nicki Minaj should do porn only. Leave rapping to people who are serious about it.
