Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972),[1] better known by his stage name Eminem, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. Eminem quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, The Slim Shady LP, which won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The following album, The Marshall Mathers LP, became the fastest-selling solo album in United States history.[2] It brought Eminem increased popularity, including his own record label, Shady Records, and brought his group project, D12, to mainstream recognition. The Marshall Mathers LP and his third album, The Eminem Show, also won Grammy Awards, making Eminem the first artist to win Best Rap Album for three consecutive LPs. He then won the award again in 2010 for his album Relapse and in 2011 for his album Recovery, giving him a total of 13 Grammys in his career. In 2003, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself" from the film, 8 Mile, in which he also played the lead. "Lose Yourself" would go on to become the longest running No. 1 hip hop single.[3] Eminem then went on hiatus after touring in 2005. He released his first album since 2004's Encore, titled Relapse, on May 15, 2009. Eminem is the best-selling artist of the decade on the US Nielsen SoundScan,[4] and has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide to date, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.[5] In 2010, Eminem released his seventh studio album Recovery. It became Eminem's sixth consecutive number-one album in the US and achieved international commercial success, charting at number one in several other countries. It stayed at number-one on the US Billboard 200 chart for five consecutive weeks and a total of seven weeks.[6][7] Recovery was also reported by Billboard to be the best-selling album of 2010, making Eminem the first artist in Nielsen SoundScan history to have two year-end best-selling albums.[8] In 2005, Eminem was ranked 79th on the VH1 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time.[9] He was also ranked 82nd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.[10] He was also named the Best Rapper Alive by Vibe magazine in 2008.[11] Including his work with D12, Eminem has achieved nine No. 1 albums on the Billboard Top 200, 7 solo (6 studio albums, 1 compilation) and 2 with D12.[12] Eminem has had 13 number one singles worldwide. In December 2009, Eminem was named the Artist of the Decade by Billboard magazine.[13] His albums The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP, and Encore (in order) ranked as the 3rd,[14] 7th,[14] and 40th[15] best-selling albums of the 2000–2009 decade by Billboard magazine. Also according to Billboard, Eminem has two of his albums among the top five highest selling albums of the 2000s. In the UK, Eminem has sold over 12.5 million records.[16] Eminem has also sold more than 33 million track downloads and 39.6 million albums in the United States alone.[17] In 2010, MTV ranked Eminem as the 7th biggest icon in pop music history.[18] During 2010, Eminem's music generated 94 million streams, more than any other music artist.[17] "Love The Way You Lie", the second single from 2010's Recovery was the best-selling single of 2010 in the United Kingdom even though it did not reach number 1 there, the first time this has happened in the UK since 1969. [19] Eminem has scored over 1 billion views on his official Vevo page on Youtube.[20] Eminem is the most popular living person on facebook with almost 29 million likes.[21]
To put it short, Eminem is one of two good white rappers. The other being Mac Miller. He recently released Recovery, which was the shit. A lot of his songs are also fucking hilarious as well. Judge for yourself. I'm more of a fan of his earlier stuff. Curtain Call was brilliant. His new stuff is not really to my taste. Too angry. His funnier stuff really highlights his versatility, in my opinion.

Dull OP. Also
To put it short, Eminem is one of two good white rappers. The other being Mac Miller.
Fucking kidding me? Listen to this album. Also Beastie Boys.. :colbert:
Well thats because he recovered from Drug abuse and wanted to rap about it. He went hard as a motherfucker after his hiatus.
Also Vanilla Ice... lol.
I don't think you understand "Rapper" not group.
His music never got better than this. Also Slim Shady LP, but that's me. I still like Eminem Show and Encore.

Wow. Vanilla Ice was garbage. He was a joke.
slim shady ep was ok, now it's just very generic and boring. a drumbeat with lyrics of emotion followed by a girl singing in the chorus
SSLP, MMLP were great albums. The rest have been average. All the haters should go listen to his older stuff, it's way better. I have to admit though, I liked his performance of "I need a doctor" at the grammy's. Anybody else think that he shouts down the mic nowadays?
8 Mile was a great movie. That movie made me think he had heart. I think if he retired after Encore, it wouldn't have been so bad. :3: Na that's horrible.
Lose Yourself is overplayed. Recovery is okay... Marshall Mathers LP was the shit Other good ones Okay I'll take a break lol
Wow. Vanilla Ice was garbage. He was a joke.
nope he was/is the beethoven of the 21st century
Eminem is the only rapper I like really. I just like listening to songs like sing for the moment, cleaning out my closet and mocking bird really. His other stuff is good but I only listen to him when I feel like listening to emotion.
Rapping at the same pace and the same beat all the time nowadays.
He's a good rapper but he's definitely not the best rap has to offer and is somewhat overrated
I hate Eminem because of the amount of times I hear people say he's the only good white rapper (or worse still, rapper in general). Sage fucking Francis, man.
Last two albums he made are pretty bad. He's got one or two decent songs on them but that is it.
I usually don't like rap but he's a huge exception. I love his music, it's not shallow like most of the rap these days, and he sounds unique.
he sounds unique.
read:white
read:white
Obviously.
I usually don't like rap but he's a huge exception. I love his music, it's not shallow like most of the rap these days, and he sounds unique.
this seems to imply you listen to old school rap which I highly doubt
eminem only got big because he was white and marketed as such if you ask me far better rappers existed around his time and area
There isn't only two good white rappers. Em however very talented.
eminem only got big because he was white and marketed as such if you ask me far better rappers existed around his time and area
Eminem wouldn't be big without Dr.Dre
Not a huge Eminem fan (or rap in general) But i think that this is a great song.
His music never got better than this. [img_thumb]http://www.hotrapalbums.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Eminem-The-Marshall-Mathers-LP-300x300.jpg[/img_thumb] Also Slim Shady LP, but that's me. I still like Eminem Show and Encore.
I still think Marshall Mathers LP was his best work. And recovery was mediocre. And Mac Miller? Where are lots of white people that are better rappers than him. Also, put more effort into the OP. You suck OP
i dont give a fuck! *proceeds to whine about how people dont like me or some other bullshit*
