With all these WW2 pictures I just noticed that the Nazis were fucking awesome. Not the Jew killing thing, but uhh...
if i had a nickel for every time i've heard that
Catching up to the thread: Vandalism of statues is criticism. It's expressive speech according to the Supreme Court. go suck a dick. WWII photos in color are amazing. Why is Lincoln's face always messed up in photos? We need more Khmer Rouge. The Nazis were "cool" in the sense that their bad-ass giant empire and style and weapons and shit. I remember one of the first pages I liked on FB was "The Nazis were evil, but damn did they know how to dress". And fuck Golden Dawn. Sad day in history when fascists gain legitimate political power. Also, the Nazi's and Germans weren't crazy. Fascism and eugenics were considered legitimate ideologies back in the 1910s-1940s, especially by the rich, and were most common in America and Western Europe. Now when we talk about these ideas, we have so much more info and historical basis and backing than people back then. I wouldn't say any of them were crazy, just with the morals of the time.
With all these WW2 pictures I just noticed that the Nazis were fucking awesome.
They had some pretty good technology.
They had some pretty good technology.
The Horton stealth plane is a pretty good example
The Horton stealth plane is a pretty good example
There's a lot of examples; the Horten pioneered modern day stealth planes, the V-2 pioneered modern rockets, some of the (inhumane) research done on prisoners advanced medical knowledge. [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] It's pretty interesting to look into.

I've got some more WWII color photos coming, as well as a little surprise that caught me off-guard. Theme Music: SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 25 Pilots Funeral (not much known, remains possibly MIA, which would explain the funeral pyre and the burning of the coffin) Barbarossa 1941 Stalingrad POW's At the Races Panzer IV (Possibly a Hungarian Panzer) Wehrmacht Troops (Conscripts) Hitler and Goering (Mein Gott, Hitler in color!) Hitler at Parade Rommel And last but not least, several very interesting photographs that I unearthed that startled me, to say the least: Men of the 13th WSS Gebrigs Division Handschar (1st Croatian) Apparently they went by the name of Gottgläubiger, which translates as 'believer in God'. They also went by the nickname "Hitler's Jihadists". Bizarre, to say the least, that Hitler's hatred for those not Aryan didn't translate over to those of the Islamic faith. The man lying down stroking his horse is apparently a Cossack in the service of the Third Reich, which is about as strange as Islamic Nazi's. Here's a comment attached to the photograph:
"The odds against surviving were very much against him. Most Heer and SS Cossack volunteers were handed over to the Soviets with, perhaps, indecent haste, before relations between the eastern and western allies had really chilled down. Given that the Stalin's treatment of ordinary Soviet PoWs liberated from German captivity was to send them to the Gulag as traitors, the chances of survival of a Soviet citizen who had actually served in German uniform would seem remote.
[editline]8th May 2012[/editline] Wow, all of that and only one broken image! [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] Also, to everyone posting images like the McDonalds arches, stop. These are the kinds of photos you need to post. Things that actually either brought the world to a stand-still or are to this day incredible to look at. [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] On another note, before I go on, should I keep with WWII, or shall I move on to something more gut-wrenching?
Just post what you got.
I'll move on to either the Pacific or Korea next, too tired for more digging right now.
Also are your colour photos actual colour photography or are they edited b/w?
I haven't a clue, really, and I'd love to be able to tell the difference myself. I know that several of them are genuine because it's been noted as such, and some of them are colorized because that's been noted as well. Anyone know how to tell the difference?
Whilst on the topic of nazis, here's a nice channel with lots of WW2 footage in color http://www.youtube.com/hcterrorist
that picture from ww1 that someone posted earlier, as well as that picture of Rommel up there, were taken in black and white and touched up after it was taken you can generally tell by how out of place the pictures look. And also the fact that people think all Nazis and Germans are bad is starting to get to me, The Nazi ideology was a idea of hope that Hitler gave the German people to help them recover their depression, I wont disagree that Hitler was crazy because he was, regardless of what anyone says. But if you look at the HJ (Hitler Jugend) its much like the America Boy scouts, just without the violence that the Nazi's recommended. I don't find it fair to hate the German people who were Nazi's because they were following hope, the Nazi ideology was good the the German people at the time, it gave them hope and something to work toward, now the war is a bad goal but that was all on Hitler. But then again history is in the eye of the beholder, During WW1 the Germans are always seen as the bad guys, because when they called for a cease fire to talk about peace terms the "Allies" took this as a sign of "OH! guys look the Germans are surrendering lets make some terms of peace and not invite them to the talks and blame it all on them" i personally believe that the Germans were pressured into ww1 and I am more than happy to list reasons if anyone is interested.

Apparently that was taken using the Autochrome method. According to wikipedia, that was a colour photograph, not a coloured b/w.

If they were just part of the Luftwaffe, the kriegsmarine or the Wehrmacht, you were probably just an average soldier. However, if you were part of the SS-Totenkopfverbände, the SS-Sicherheitspolizei, the SS-Einsatzgruppen, or the SS Medical Corps (they gassed people, false title), you were probably absolute scum. The oldest members of the party, whom had joined it before 1930, were called the "Alter Kämpfer", or "older fighter", tended to be the worst Anti-Semitics. They also tended to be the Amtsleiter, or those who personally answered to Adolf Hitler, and served as both his advisor as well as his body guards. I could go on, but not every German was "innocent". After WWII, the American and Soviet governments ran a propaganda campaign called "Denazification", in which the guilt of the Holocaust was spread equally to the whole of the German people. German civilians and war veterans were often forced to view the work of their "Fuhrer" by touring concentration camps and working to bury the victims, and even in some cases to exhume mass graves.
The Hitler Jugend also served to force the more extreme Nazi ideals into children as well, the idea of extreme loyalty to the Fuhrer. This was really seen in the last 2 years of the war when HJ members were drafted into combat roles, one division being commended for its ''ferocity and fanaticism'' and many were forced into defending Berlin from the advancing Soviet forces.
