Matrix Online tried to continue a contained story. I have no idea how this will all pan out though. http://matrix.wikia.com/wiki/The_Matrix_Online
*sigh* where do I even start with this -neo is dead (thank god for that I fucking hate keanu reeves - he was only bearable because the matrix is an interesting film saga) -the war is over (although more like on hold - the way the third film ended it was VERY OBVIOUSLY left open for a sequel) they're bringing neo back are you fucking kidding me? WHY NOT HAVE A BRAND NEW CAST OF CHARACTERS YOU UNIMAGINATIVE ASSHOLES. FUCK. HE'S DEAD MAKE KEANU REEVES GO AWAY NOW PLEASE here's how I imagine this will go since it's already painfully apparent to me that they're just milking the cash cow: after a brief (but indeterminate) amount of time spent in peace with the machines the machines "unexpectedly" betray humanity, leading to a full-scale war, both in the matrix and outside it (basically the mindless dumb action of the third movie [the worst one imo] spread like butter on toast over two or three movies). the heroes of the first trilogy - that is, the entire main cast (they have to resurrect neo somehow), - are the generals in this war and have to awaken the slumbering fields of humans plugged into the matrix for use as soldiers in the war and to deprive the machines of their power source there will be much explosions and gunfire and kung fu and neo wearing sunglasses and it will be incredibly dumb and I hope it fucking crashes and burns like it deserves to maybe they can even get michael bay to direct it!! fuck you wachowski brothers, fuck you

FUCK YEAH I loved the Matrix trilogy! Although, as others have said, the Matrix Online was supposed to continue the story, including [sp]the death of Morpheus.[/sp] Although I heard that [sp]another war between machines and humans was started[/sp] in the game, too. This will be really interesting to watch.
my favorite movies............... I hope they add more on gun play like the first one then the other two.
What, humanity hasn't got sick of being utter genocidal dicks to a race of peaceful robots yet?

I really hope this is "we have this awesome script and we'd like to consider 3D" instead of the usual "we have 3D and we'd like to consider this shitty script."
Pretty sure the MMO is canon as per Wachowski supervision. Like the "Enter The Matrix" thing. So they'll probably try and do something with that story.
This could be interesting but it still feels like they are milking the franchise to the point where it's not as good as it was.
But.....[sp]the war with the machines ended, Neo died, Smith died (sorta), we even got the bright and colorful rainbow bullshit ending at the end of the third!....Is Neo going to come back 3 days after the end?[/sp]
He destroyed all Smiths if I remember correct... But the Martrix series is one of my favorite movie series ever
This could be interesting but it still feels like they are milking the franchise to the point where it's not as good as it was.
I honestly don't think they would be doing this if they didn't think they had a good idea. Milking or not I think it's going to be good. But better CG plox, and less of it. The CG in Matrix has always been shit, whereas the old school effects are almost genre defining, glorious.
-snip- Sorry wrong thread
I loved the first movie so much, I really hope this lives up to it.
I can't wait!
I hear Neo will come back 1,980 years after his death when people are at their peak of questioning his powers as The One and he will graciously sweep the believers away to a safe new land where man can once again thrive while Smith kills the nonbelievers and destroys what is left of Earth. I don't want to get anyone too excited, but I might have found a leaked picture: But in all seriousness I think I may have some hope for these films. The two sequels definitely fell short of their expectations. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes and redeem the franchise.
I watched all 3 Matrix films with a friend back to back one day, and I only distinctly remember the first. The sequels weren't that memorable.
I watched all 3 Matrix films with a friend back to back one day, and I only distinctly remember the first. The sequels weren't that memorable.
Most memorable moment for me in the first was the police station shoot out.
I enjoyed the first and second movies equally, while the third wasn't as great, i still loved it then fight at the end made it all worth watching So yeah i look forward to these movies a whole shit-ton
Neo didn't just die at the end of the third; it was implied heavily he ascended into a nirvana like state. You pretty much miss the entire point of the ending if you just think he died. But maybe that explains why nobody likes it or thinks it's at all philosophical (it is philosopical; in much of the same ways as the first).

The CG in Matrix has always been shit, whereas the old school effects are almost genre defining, glorious.
i think the CG mostly sucked because they didnt really have stellar CG technology at the time i mean, look at any cg-heavy movie from 1999 now, itll look lame (or at least lamer than you remember) and then 2003 was when the LOTR trilogy was concluding, and that had some pretty stellar CG, but the technology wasnt really widely available yet
Neo [sp]died[/sp]. No sequels involving Neo because he [sp]died a painful horrible gory death[/sp]. No prequels involving Neo as he would be at a redundant stage in his character development, thus making it boring or uninteresting (it would be very difficult to make an engaging prequel involving him). This should be interesting.
god you guys are obtuse.
honestly? i prefer the matrix: path of neo version of the ending.
OH MY FUCKING GOD [img_thumb]http://a[/img_thumb]
Oh my god, are you [sp]alive[/sp]?

The first was the "best" because it had a simple story you could actually understand. The other two seem senseless because you don't understand them. I don't fully understand them but I can completely appreciate that they are telling a very distinct and clearly defined story that could not possibly be told in any other way. I think they're very good. Short of the crap CGI ofc.
I love the concept of the Matrix and the atmosphere of the movies. I don't care if newer movies would be bad, I wouldn't lose anything by watching them. :buddy:
