Watching it nowadays is hilarious, though.
When we were kids, this was probably the scariest shit we'd ever seen.
O Canada. It would play on Cartoon Network late at night.
Oh god. I still have nightmares about it.
Seriously. To this day, I can't watch this or the 1968 version because it scares the living shit out of me.
And also, even though most of the movie is hilarious
This moment in Return of the Living Dead, when the nuke is going off and it's a freeze frame on her, I'm terrified of it.
The scene where the lady first finds him up in the top of the factory scared the shit out of me when I was like 4.
I watched Are you Afraid of the Dark a lot as a kid, but only one episode ever really truly scared me. I can't remember what it was called, just that it involved some kind of vampire monster that was loose in a hospital. The first time I saw it, I couldn't watch it all the way through.
I didn't see it air again for years, and I thought maybe it was so scary that they decided to never show it again, but it was eventually re-run. I'll see if I can find the episode title. I'm sure I'll remember when I see a list of them
Ok I'm pretty sure it was "The Tale of the Night Shift" and this was the monster:
Just watch the intro, fucking creeping.
I was really scared of an X-Files episode. It was about a bomber who blew himself up and somehow got back to life. Also the episode from Aladdin where they went up to a castle in the sky and awoke a cyclops with a ruby eye.
My dad had the amazing thought of showing his 4 year old son the movie when it first came out on DVD in 1999.
Frankenstein (1994) gave me nightmares
Ooh, and this. Big time.
And Terminator 2. Especially Terminator 2.

I don't know, I always got a kick out of the fact that it's Robert De Niro playing the Frankenstein Monster.
the owl always weirded me out when I was a young'n
Jeopardy: I refused to watch it as a kid, so tense and scary for a kids show.
I remember the last episode of that show where the two children saw themselves in the past or something and it just ended. :suicide:
The last time I talked about these guys, I was not kidding.
The actual Muppet versions of these gave me the creeps, not two random unforeseen teens in costumes.

Nova Scotia represent!
I can see why you'd find them creepy as a kid, though. I never watched the muppets too much when I was young.
Bagpuss made me freak the fuck out for some reason, and there was this Christmas film I can't remember, stop motion and it had this little robin helping a statue that was losing all it's bronze coating or something, and then the robin dies at the end. Depressing as hell and really obscure, something from way back when I was a youngun

I realize it may not be a tv program, but the emergency broadcast testing always made me want to curl up and cry to sleep. I think it may have even scarred me, I rarely watch any program past 12 am nowadays.
Not gonna lie, when I was real little, I was terrified of Cookie Monster. That blue fucker gave me nightmares all the time. My reasoning was always the same, "He eats everything, even the plate!" I was a pussy when I was little.
Whatever that one show was with the intro of a swing - swinging by itself and it always started with people sitting around a camp fire. It was on Nickelodeon. Weird shit.
also, when I was fairly young I caught the beginning of Menace 2 society, and the robbery scene at the start where the Korean woman is screaming gave me nightmares
real shit like that has always been more unsettling to me than supernatural horror.

It's OK. I was a pussy as a little kid too.
I couldn't even watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame because Frollo scared the shit out of me. I watched it for the first time when I found it while looking through old VHS tapes when I was about 15. Fucking amazing villain, but I can see why I was afraid of him, he was very intimidating.
The rape scene in Anthony Hopkins' Titus Andronicus fucked me up as a 13 year old as well
Tarzan, [sp]that fucking cheetah[/sp].
Now in gif flavor.
RETURN THE SLAAAAB
it doesn't help that I was 5 when I first saw it.

Wasn't that "Are You Afraid Of The Dark"?
"The Mangler (1995)" the part where the fridge is possessed by a demon. That shit freaked me the fuck out when I was little.
Still creeps me out to today.
