well you dont need numbers to get the basics of it and that is that there are an infinite number of universe each with different laws and rules
Being shown a pretty drawing and told its called infinity is one thing, placing ∞ into a problem just makes more problems.

Once you get up to the 6th and 7th dimension, being a human kind of doesn't matter. Everything you can and have been exist at the same moment. Edit: I'm gonna go to bed before my head explodes.

This means choice doesnt exist, free will doesnt exist, and everything is predetermined. Basically means, without knowing the future already you cant change it. I usually think of infinity as a 0 as calculating infinity is about as impossible as dividing by 0.
who said anyone has free will?
No one in this thread and I just thought Id throw that out there for some people to say "wut" about.
This is the best explanation of the fourth dimension I've ever heard. [editline]10:52PM[/editline] Fuck ninja'd
Virtual reality on the other hand... It just might become a possibility in the far future.
Virtual reality is already possible. See all these stupid motion controllers. If they can detect you in 3d and copy movement into a game, then advancing this tech a bit more would easily create VR.
:psyboom:
the 4th dimension isn't time, by the way some people claim it is, but the word "dimension" is not at all the one you want to use for that sort of thing.
I don't know dimesnions too well, so this might be a stupid question. But can there be living things in the dimensions above the 3rd?
JohnnyMo said it was wrong and he's a physics student or something :saddowns:
Yeah that video is really really shitty. [editline]12:34AM[/editline] Up until the 4th dimension it's okay then it just gets utterly wrong. [editline]12:35AM[/editline]
I don't know why people think the 4th dimension being time would mean it isn't spacial. Also, who is JohnnyMo?
Hello!

How many dimensions are there?
This thread appears to be full of twelve year olds spewing "MINDFUCK" and "OMG HEAD ASPLODE", It's really not that hard to understand. Watch that carl sagan youtube video on the first page. The fourth dimension is simply another "direction", one we can't point to or move through, because our entire universe is three dimensional. The "rotating" cube is a representation of a 3D shadow of a 4D object - just as we 3D beings cast 2D shadows.
How many dimensions are there?
If M-theory is correct, possibly 11: ten spatial and one temporal.
