5/5 Clint Eastwood. Nuff said. 4/5 I liked it the second time through but then after replaying it over and over it's kind of boring now unlike Kezia and Fortress. I'd still say this is the best album regardless though
that leela fanart is creepy and i don't know why
I like it, and that's why I have it saved in my Futurama pic folder (now at 324 pics for main).

Okay, what to say... I don't really want to go into how it's all influential and "all-time classic" and shit... What I will say is that this is something else :smug:

A more secular noise album, I think, but that's not a bad thing. I love it, and reminds me of Death from Above 1979 in many ways.

It's dynamic, it's explosive and it's melodic... there is much to say. I wasn't quite as moved with this as compared to the debut or Paranoid, but since I love Drone Doom, this is a significant album in my collection.
The Postal Service - Give Up - 2003 Great album. First time I listened it was way back when I was overly picky about vocals and I kind of disliked it. Got back to it eventually and realised how wrong I was. Listened to Death Cab For Cutie but lol it's not as good I mean. idk I just really like this music. It's so light and idk. idk. It's good okay. I just finished listening to Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious. Honestly, I didn't like it as much as The Butcher's Ballroom. However, it still gets five stars from me.
Beautiful album, the kind of music I put on when relaxing and trying to sleep. 9.5/10
I like that book.
It's my favorite I have read of all the books I have read. It's probably the best ever written, but that's going pretty far.
[img_thumb]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_30TQ6c1qxsU/SKDkK3MnXrI/AAAAAAAAAEk/IUP8jdNQxhE/s400/The+Postal+Service+-+Give+Up.jpg[/img_thumb] The Postal Service - Give Up - 2003
I just gave this a listen, I had wanted to for awhile.. It was okay I guess, didn't really catch me, except for Such Great Heights, which I had heard before. 6.5/10 Though I do get what you mean by light sounding.

10. or an A+ Classic.
Eels - Electro-Shock Blues - 1998 B+ Not the most distinct Indie sounding record, I liked it a lot actually. This is very emotional and personal I feel... and the reason why I'm not rating this considerably higher is that it didn't particularly make me feel how the artist wanted me to feel. For example, "The Dark Side of the Moon" makes me feel precisely how the artist wants me to feel and there is no escaping that. With this one, you can simply accept what is going on and take on what it is ranting about, even though as melodious as it may be.. it doesn't steal your heart like something Radiohead could make. Still one to recommend.
Fucking awesome 10/10
I just gave this a listen, I had wanted to for awhile.. It was okay I guess, didn't really catch me, except for Such Great Heights, which I had heard before. 6.5/10 Though I do get what you mean by light sounding.
It took me a few listens to really get into it. We Will Become Silhouettes is a particularly good one. Me and the little attention I pay to lyrics was the reason I didn't really see how great it was from the start. Sounds really happy for what it's actually about. Sleeping In just has the nicest lyrics though. Just really cute idea. Kind of wish the world was like how it's described in that song. Natural Anthem as well was really great. I don't know what kind of genre of electronica it's reminding me of though, maybe drum and bass, even though it's not really that, just similar. really loved it. And there's just my three favourite tracks that kind of make the album for me. Jónsi & Alex - Riceboy Sleeps - 2009 7/10 Brilliant ambient album. From Jón Þór Birgisson (Jónsi) of Sigur Rós and his boyfriend Alex Sommers. Haven't put a whole lot of thought into how much it does or doesn't sound like Sigur Rós. It's just really really good calming stuff though. First ambient album that I really listened to. It's really really good good is all I'm saying. And for a sample, here's the first track, Happiness. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues - 2011 8/10 This is actually fantastic. It leaked really early, so naturally people put it straight onto Youtube. Listened to it through on there. Wasn't a huge fan of the debut, though maybe that'd be down to the fact that I haven't really listened to it a whole lot. But this second album is much better. So much happier, with more going on. Same kind of reaction I had to Vampire Weekend's second album, which kicked the first one's ass. Bedouin Dress, the second track, really caught my attention. Definitely recommend this album if you liked the first. And if you haven't listened to Fleet Foxes yet, then you should, in whatever order you like. Chronological is best though. John Lennon - Shaved Fish - 1975 (Compilation) C+ Not much of a "compilation album" fan, but I thought I'd give this a go because it seemed interesting. I don't really feel fulfilled by this in terms of the songs it represents. As an album it is okay, it seems to be set out quite well instead of most compilations where they don't really put effort of tracklists and just chuck on there whatever they dear please. This on the other hands seems to take some sort of idea of John Lennon and plonk it down into one well structured album. The grading may seem low, but to be honest... compilations in general don't really deserve the great recognition that they usually get. For example, a Beatles compilation doesn't seem intriguing or paint much of an idea with the artist's intent of the songs, however the LOVE album defies this and is actually very good. Also Star Time by James Brown, which is pretty much as masterful as any compilation gets. I'm not appealed by them in general that's all, but a few like this do seem worth giving a listen. [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] Billie Holiday - Lady In Satin - 1958 A- I've noticed that this has been noted as the most accomplished album of her's, being that it is emotional and touching, maybe her most accessible? I personally thought this album would have painted the perfect picture of this artist. This album is said to be her deepest work, seeing as it was her last released record in her lifetime. If you want some SORROW, listen to her "Last Recordings" album, that is basically the artist in her dying days. Just like Johnny Cash, you can hear "that" person deep within, when they record just before they die. Still a classic and forever her most celebrated record. Sad to see her other work to be buried deep under it.
8.8/10 Really beautiful album. It's that kind of shit that you wanna listen to sitting in the beach all by yourself, with your wiskey and cigar. Really fucking deep. Can't go wrong with those two.
7/10 There's something about this band's style that's uniquely appealing, even if the music itself isn't particularly innovative.
Big Star - Third/Sister Lovers - 1978 A Ahead of it's time, still sounds as if it could have been made this year. That's a seemingly more difficult thing to find in records from back then. I think it is possibly one of the more accessible records to be enjoyed by enthusiasts today. This being said, it is an emotional record. Very sincere and well put together. Great album.
