no, just rating the beginning of his end 10/10.
no, just rating the beginning of his end 10/10.
Well we all got opinions.
no, just rating the beginning of his end 10/10.
That's the hype, but liking it isn't illegal. I personally think "Recovery" was the end of his madness which I found interesting. It told me he'll never make anything as good as Lose Yourself.

It is toned down a bit, which I'm not crazy about, but the songs I've heard on it are still pretty good. I would definitely rate it less than Relapse though.

(i've only heard it once) However, I listened to Marshall Mathers LP a LOT prior to my interest in music. It's a true future classic.

Written when he suffered depression after splitting with his long-term partner, it is not an exaggeration to say that Sea Change is the sound of heartbreak and sadness. Every track on this album communicates with the listener on an audible level and an emotional level, each sombre song showing the depth of his pain that is best expressed in the lines ''There's one road back to civilization, But there's no road back to you....'' (Paper Tiger). This is an album that everybody should listen to at least once in their life, this is not just an album, this a man baring his soul and showing the world how it feels. Some may be able to relate to it and others may not. This album is definitely Beck's magnum opus and a resounding: 10/10 Key Track: Lost Cause

7/10 It was pretty catchy I guess, but it's not really a gem.
7/10 It was pretty good, some songs I didn't really like though. Still worth listening to!

And I really didn't, its a solid album and I enjoyed it a lot but the first word that came to mind while listening to it was "overrated". Its a fantastic album that definitely has some amazing songs but when listening to it as a whole it just feels so disjointed and unorganized at times that I can hardly say its a classic or a masterpiece or whatever it is people call this album. Also, what the fuck is up with Oh Comely? I don't know what it is people love about that song but it sounds like complete shit to me. However, Holland 1945, The Two-Headed Boy, and the title track are enough for me to safely say everyone should listen to this album. [editline]19th October 2011[/editline] Oh and of course, Jesus Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist [editline]19th October 2011[/editline] I just realized I give a lot of .5's in this thread, usually just to stress that I like this more/less than an 8 or whatever, but its kinda funny it seems like I tack a .5 on to everything. Maybe I should change up my system a little.
[img_thumb]http://cdn.imfmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/The-Lonely-Island-Turtleneck-And-Chain.jpeg[/img_thumb] The Lonely Island - Turtleneck & Chain 57/100 D Genre: Hiphop, rap, pop, comedy Length - 19 tracks, 39 minutes If you haven't heard of The Lonely Island yet, go to youtube and search "I'm On A Boat". Of course, I'm going to assume you've heard of them. Turtleneck And Chain is their second full length album. It features several of the songs from their recent music videos, such as We're Back, I Just Had Sex, The Creep, and a few others. Although this album has 19 tracks, don't be confused. It's only a fair 39 minutes. The album has few great songs. Songs like We're Back, Throw It On The Ground, No Homo, and Jack Sparrow are hilarious songs which are great and memorable. Although this album is full of other tracks which aren't nearly as funny. The title track, Turtleneck & Chain, is very forgettable and overall, at the most, is silly. Songs that are only "silly" and not "hilarious" fill the majority of the album. Even the song, The Creep, was at the most, silly without the music video. Nicki Mijas part in the song was awfully boring and unfunny without the music video. In general, it's an OK album. TLI excels in viral music videos and not so much in full length albums. I recommend buying a few of the songs individually on iTunes instead of buying the full length album. Favorite Songs: We're Back!, Throw It On The Ground, No Homo Worst Songs: Turtleneck & Chain, The Creep, Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde
In general, it's an OK album. TLI excels in viral music videos and not so much in full length albums.
yea pretty much, I love these guys but listening to a whole album seems pretty unappealing anyways Do Make Say Think - Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn Really beautiful and warm sounding post rock. I've sort of fallen out with modern examples of the genre due to a lot of it being boring background music but this is one of those treats where a post rock band does more than detached crescendos. There's a great sense of very fluid progressions in here and a very wintery feeling that was just perfect for such a cloudy day. warmly recommended. 4/5
might look into that

Anyhow, on to the Album: Nine Inch Nails - Broken I'd give it a 9.5, if only because it doesn't have the same kind of feeling that Year Zero or With Teeth had, or Downward Spiral for that matter (The Best Album in my honest opinion).
I've seen this album EVERYWHERE! I've got to listen to it eventually.
It's not the best indie rock/folk album I've heard. But for the hype, it's quite nice. It's breathtaking to feel the love that guy has for Jesus Christ. Try Magnetic Fields though.
[img_thumb]http://www.cliffskighwalker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/coverep.png[/img_thumb] BADBADNOTGOOD - BBNG Genre - Avant-Garde, Jazz Length : 12 Tracks, 46 Minutes 87/100 B+ BADBADNOTGOOD is a jazz trio who met in Toronto at their college. They shared similar music tastes, such as OFWGKTA, Gucci Mane, and Waka Flocka Flame. They decided to make a band and BBNG is their debut mixtape. BBNG is a great album. The first track is very interesting and I could listen to the voice in it all day. The second track is great. "Fall In Love" is a great track and is very catchy and memorable. Improvised Jam is very nice too and sounds anything but improvised. In the middle of the mixtape, the track I Got A Bad Feeling About This changes the mood from somewhat happy and content to somewhat depressing. The track Listeriosis is somewhat disappointing which leads to the next track, Camel, which isn't a very good track either. The next track is amazing since the entire 9 minutes of that one track is a bunch of covers from TLOZ Ocarnia Of Time. The final track is very nice too. There is also a little part in it where someone in the band comments on this one old jazz song, bashing it because it's old and overplayed saying that he would rather play anything else BUT that one song. (Can't quite remember which song) This album is also very unique. Instead of being just jazz or hip hop, it's a two way street of jazz and hip hop. The mixtape is also free! Get it here. Best Tracks: Title Theme/Saria's Song/Song Of Storm, Fall In Love, Improvised Jam Worst Tracks:Camel, Listeriosis I recommend this album. This goes to my top albums on the year list. Also, thank you AK'z for recommending me this. It's a great album and well worth my time.
I'm new here - 9/10 yeah it's good, everyone should listen to it a thousand times and weep gently. I love the fact that the last thing GSH ever said chronologically in his music is "god bless you mama, and thank you"
aeroplane is awesome. extremely honest and idiosyncratic songwriting and beautiful instrumentals. it seems overrated as it's not like the best thing EVER but most of it's mythic status is probably because it's turned into a sort of mascot for /mu/ so its everywhere on the internet. also pitchfork 10.0 = lots of hype. also check out Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum. darker and gayer version of nmh. and the microphones.
Absu - Abzu Genre : Thrash Metal, Black Metal Length: 6 tracks 35 minutes 66/100 C- Absu is a thrash/black metal band that's been around for about 20 years and is pretty underground. This is my first time listening to them and they're not bad. The album starts of with my least favorite track on the album. It felt too rushed and overwhelming at first and it is a bit of a turn off. The next few tracks are pretty good wit the exception of a couple which were OK. The final track was a good ending but not the epic, spectacular finisher I'd expect from a metal album. The final track also felt more like 3-4 different tracks smashed into one and the album would have done a bit better if they were separate. The album overall feels short and more like an EP than a full length LP. Overall this album delivers what you'd expect. A metal album that makes you want to punch something. It doesn't excel way to much but it certainly isn't bad. Best Tracks: Circles Of The Oath, Abraxas Connexus Worst Track: Earth Ripper Btw, this is my rating scale 0-50 F 51-65 D 66-80 C 81-90 B 91-100 A

I'll sleep when you're dead - 9.5/10 If I believed in 10/10, this would definitely get it. The album that got me into underground hip-hop, this entire album has a lot of great memories attached for me. Sampling a David Lynch film (fire walk with me) in the opening few seconds of the album really gives you an idea of what's coming; a lyrically dense, vocally aggressive and melodically jarring work of industrial hip-hop. The production has always made me think of the bomb squad on PCP, while El's lyrics tend to sway between serious social commentary and Lynchian 'sci-fi' metaphors. my favourite track tends to oscillate between 'league of extraordinary nobodies' and 'Tasmanian pain coaster' but in general the entire album is brilliant. Tha Carter 4 it ain't, but to me that's a brilliant thing
