A highlight reel from last year: What is Quakecon? -Quakecon is a free massive annual LAN party and gaming/hardware convention that takes place in Dallas, Texas every year in early August. -Thousands show up every year with their computer and game their hearts out for 72~ hours with little sleep and plenty of food to fuel their bloodthirsty minds. -The entire event is sponsored by Bethesda, Id, and a handful of other various companies which makes it a free event, other than travel and hotel costs! Every year the convention usually focus's on a up and coming game, and by the looks of the available shirt for purchase it looks like its going to be Dishonered!! Also, the BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) room shirt has a nifty design this year: So... are you going this year? I know I am!
too far away
Wish we had something like this in the UK!
I might be going.
I could go, is it all FPS games or are there still pockets of Dota/Dota2/SC2 like way before? :x
I might be going.
nice! registration opens tomorrow so if you plan on bringing a computer make to sign up before spots deplete.
I could go, is it all FPS games or are there still pockets of Dota/Dota2/SC2 like way before? :x
Every game ever is played. You can get on almost any game and find a local server being hosted through the network. It's good fun!
Wish we had something like this in the UK!
we do , we have the iseries i went to i43 http://iseries.multiplay.co.uk/
We do: http://iseries.multiplay.co.uk/
Not to self, scroll down before replying!
I would like to go, but can someone explain what happens there a little more? Are there events or is it just a LAN that also comes with a local Quake ladder. The site isn't very specific.
I live like, 3 hours away from Dallas and to be honest, I would go but it would be too awkward seeing as though I wouldn't have anyone to go with.

Wish we had something like this in Canada!
I would go but it's too far away... ( i live in Canada).
I live like, 3 hours away from Dallas and to be honest, I would go but it would be too awkward seeing as though I wouldn't have anyone to go with.
any friend with a PC should be able to go... it doesn't exactly take a $1000 build to run Quake.

There are events going on all weekend like hardware demonstrations, beta demonstrations, and tournaments for popular titles that you can sign up for as you please. They also give away hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of hardware and games.
I'm going with my friend. This'll be our fourth consecutive year going to the BYOC. I'm so excited!
This will be the third year I attend QuakeCon. I miss the smell of Mountain Dew and virginity
Going with that guy ^ Da big man, 2nd year in a row.
Ah, more Carmack talks, more stuff to listen to while I attempt to sleep.
Ah, more Carmack talks, more stuff to listen to while I attempt to sleep.
I actually enjoy carmack talks for about 30 minutes, then i start dozing off or something else grabs my attention.
What about all the BAWLS?
I miss bawls 360 days out of the year.
This will be my first year going. How do people bring all their computer stuff with them if their PC is huge? I want to do the BYOC but I don't understand how. Is there a special case you can buy or something?

Like a little hand cart and strap your stuff down.. like so: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4155Uq4yRnL._AA300_.jpg except with a tower and monitor...
Well since no one has suggested a Facepunch group sitting, if anyone is going I will be sitting in B70-8. Under the group "The Tudd Fudders Fan Club."
Ya I already frequent with a clan there, but if I didn't I would be down for some facepunching! Tudd if you want to sit with my group, we're sitting around b24-25 under |PpP|. Anyone is welcome to sit around us, and it would be great to meet a few of you!
I already registered my spot, but I will come say hi!
You can move your seat, as long as its open! =^) Either way, sounds good.
I'd have liked it if Quakecon moved to a new place each year. Instead, they're limiting their audience to those who have probably already been there at least once.
I'm going, already reserved my seat next to tudd fudders.
Btw, the clan 7SEA on our left has challenged us to small team TF2 game. Let us train!
