What martial arts do you train in? I did train in Kuk Sool Won but now I'm all about dem dere aesthetics.
I train in aesthetics-fu
Krav Maga for many a year i learned some fucked up shit in the first lesson
I always wanted to do some type of martial arts but to this day haven't. :\
Boxing and BJJ are my mainstays. Did karate for a few years when I was much younger. Have dabbled in many things over the years as well, such as Muay Thai, judo etc.
I took a few boxing classes with one of my friends if that counts.
boxing right now, karate when I was younger, tae kown do earlier on.
Started with Judo when I was younger, stopped at brown belt and went with Muay Thai.
Did Ai-ki-do, muay thai, kickboxing meh
Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu right now, used to do TKD for a couple years back.
My boss at work is teaching youn wha ryu, I've been contemplating taking that. I just don't know if i can spare another 30 a month for that while trying to get out of my debt.
I train kendo.
Did Ai-ki-do, muay thai, kickboxing meh
I was thinking of joining Muay Thai. But Kuk Sool Won is amazing for me just now
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.
I practice kung fu, Mizong Lohan style. I've also practiced Tai Chi, and Karate briefly.
I, Mizong Lohan style.
Lindsey Lohan?
what`s different about the mizong lohan style
It's supposed to be like, feint attacks and such, it has some pretty intrincate footwork, it's less quick blocking/quick jabs and more feign an attack then pull another. To be honest most northern shaolin styles are very similar, and what I practice isn't purely Mizong Lohan anyway.
Lindsey Lohan?
Ain't she on death row by now?
what exactly is kuk sool won
Yet another Taekwondo derivative full of acrobatic movements and ridiculous crap that has zero real world application against a live dynamic (read: trying to fucking hurt you) opponent, yet practitioners who have never actually been in a fight will adamantly defend the style's fighting ability. Hurp. You can say this same thing about 90% of Asian martial arts however.

It's obvious you have never been to a class..

There are plenty of videos on youtube showing exactly why I won't EVER spend money on yet another fad circle jerk with pretend badasses who run around in their pajamas while standing their and letting their partner attack him with predetermined outcomes so he can feel like the man. It's so very irresponsible to pass this stuff off as self defence. As the folks over at bullshido say, it's yet another fucking McDojo designed to keep housewives and children's money flowing in year round. Go ahead and get behind another system that teaches fantasy knife disarms to kids and instills a false sense of confidence that winds up putting them into a hospital if you want, I won't.

The stuff you do in class without and audience isn't all flip and "uber k00l badass shit" it's very practicle and useful. it has saved my arse a few times. And you are there acting as if you know everything about the martial arts yet you haven't even been to one class.

I would bet hard money the curriculum is almost exactly the same to a T. I've yet to see video footage of Kuk Sool featuring full contact sparring. BTW Point sparring is NOT full contact. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline] Also uhhh
Do you seriously think we get told to use those techniques in a street fight? Those techniques are purely for excersise, self discipline and tradition. We get taught SO MUCH on street fighting. And yes we do do full contact sparring soooo.... Although full contact sparring is not done at tournament. Only in class
Yeah if I saw someone drop into a horse stance to try to fight me I'd laugh my ass off. Then I'd just throw a hard kick to the chest to unbalance him. You practice like that to set a groundwork so that you don't flail your arms around like an idiot, but if you ever have to fight someone you don't just pop into a stance and start doing forms or else you're bound to get your ass kicked. Actually this reminds me of a kid in a camp I went to who used the arm endurance building exercises as a dance. (slamming your arm against hard objects so you feel less pain blocking. He had aspergers.
Yea we are told repeatedly not to drop into any stance during a street fight (which I wouldn't do anyway cause I'm not a retard) We practice all the street fighting areas i.e ground fighting, punching to the face, neck, chest, kicking knees all that good stuff :)
Again please film your next class. Prove me wrong, lay my doubts to rest.
Nidan in Taekwondo. I'm thinking of doing Kung Fu.
I train Machado BJJ, American Combat Judo, Muay Thai, Boxing, and self-teaching myself a few TKD strikes that are applicable in MMA scenarios like spinning back kicks and side kicks. The gym I train at recently acquired a Greco Roman wrestling coach, so I guess you could say I'm learning that now too. I've seriously never been in better shape. I was strong and everything during high school football, but I'm vastly superior cardio-wise nowadays. Also, I couldn't kick straight up past by waist before I started getting into MMA, now I can throw roundhouse kicks at above head level after 4 months or so of training.
I've also always wanted to join MMA. Will probably get into it in a year or two
