Same old thing
The Misfits are shit because they wear make-up.
I absolutely hate when people say they listen to "Indie". It's not a bloody genre rather an umbrella term.
The Misfits are shit because they wear make-up.
I agree with the latter being stupid, not the former.
I absolutely hate when people say they listen to "Indie". It's not a bloody genre rather an umbrella term.
Indie and Djent are my favourite genres.
Indie and Djent are my favourite genres.
Not sure if you are joking or not. In the case that you aren't, they are styles, not genres.
People who do that often wear buttoned up flannellettes over striped and patterned sweaters, vans, amd thick lensless glasses Ie they only do it to say they are hipster
You can't simply buy into being a Hipster like that, it's more of a mindset if anything.
they are styles, not genres.
genres are styles of music, no? :raise:
Not sure if you are joking or not. In the case that you aren't, they are styles, not genres.
Djent isn't even a style, it's a term used to describe a specific sound.
it's a term used to describe a specific sound.
Then it's a style no? :smith:
Then it's a style no? :smith:
Nope, a musical style is a lot more.
Nope, a musical style is a lot more.
So Djent is a gimmick sub-genre then?
So Djent is a gimmick sub-genre then?
Some people think it is, I personally don't.
Saying your favourite genre is djent is like saying your favourite meal is salt
Saying your favourite genre is djent is like saying your favourite meal is salt
That statement is wrong, you can still eat salt.
"Indie is not a genre"
That statement is wrong, you can still eat salt.
but you can't listen to djent? [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] I'm very lost
"Indie is not a genre"
It's an umbrella term for independent music Black metal can be indie
Who is Jent?
"Indie is not a genre"
Indie isn't really a genre though, is it. You can have things like indie rock to describe what is normally called indie. But at the same time you can have indie hip hop (or underground)
Too much Djent will make you die of kidny failure.
@Franke Style noun 1 the way something is done, made, said or written, etc Genre noun 1 any category of literature, art, culture, e.g. music, based on some set of stylistic criteria. Source: The oxford dictionary Ie, style is an element to a genre, and visa versa; genre is a set of styles (usually closer to 1 than farther)
But isn't Djent a mixture of Prog, Metal and Distorted stuff?
Djent is serious business
But isn't Djent a mixture of Prog, Metal and Distorted stuff?
Nope, it's the sound of a metallic sounding high gain 4-note powerchord.
It's an umbrella term for independent music Black metal can be indie
It is a proven fact that Indie is a genre and not an umbrella term. It is a proven fact that black metal can not be Indie. The best example of the Indie genre is "Indie End" by Linkin Park. Another great example is "Indie Air Tonight" by Phil Collins.
There are lots of words that technically aren't the words for genres, but people use them as genrenames anyway, like indie and pop. I personally don't think it's a big deal, because there aren't really any other words to describe the genres, so the words have really turned into meaning both the name of the genre and the other meaning.
Nope, it's the sound of a metallic sounding high gain 4-note powerchord.
Yes, it is the style a guitarist uses when he incorporates these traits into his playing technique [editline]19th June 2011[/editline]
There are lots of words that technically aren't the words for genres, but people use them as genrenames anyway, like indie and pop. It's basically used to term the music a member of the said culture would be accustomed to.
Yes, it is the style a guitarist uses when he incorporates these traits into his playing technique
''Djent'' is part of a style but it isn't a style on it's own, it is more of a technique. [editline]dude[/editline] I just realized that I said the same thing as you.
