I was under the impression that this was a school news program with no physically distributed content; only a broadcast show.
It most likely is, was just a general comment really.
This is what I used that orange X for, in an attempt at making a logo for my first client. The name of the company/website is Crossfit, wodtime is short for workout of the day (and their "time") which is part of their program It's some fitness website where people do their "wod" and post their times. (at least, that's what I've gathered from it) I'd love some comments [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] The color scheme (orange, flat black, and silver) is what the client wanted
That WodTime logo is great, but you should REALLY avoid using Verdana anywhere else other than web design. If you use a nice little sans serif font such as Frutiger you might get a great result with that "FIT" logo. Also, try making the "arms" and "legs" of the little orange dude a bit curvy so it gives a fresh, flexible style, which is what you want to transmit as a gym company, separate the text a bit from the orange thingy and make the thingy a little bit smaller.
Here's the history of my foray into graphic design - One night I was bored and made this card for a fake band. Sent it to a friend, he liked it and set it as his wallpapaer. (Used to have a bigger size of it, but somehow it got lost.) His mom saw it and liked it. She was starting a band, and asked me to do a poster-like thing for her. This was the result. I've never had experience with graphic design before, so I'm kind of learning. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] As you can see I like coffee stains.

I don't have any money to spend on commercial fonts [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] I was working on making the figure a bit more "active" though... and submitted this variation as well
This really hurts my eyes. The TEXT is ALL over the place. Font size contrasts is everywhere. Colour contrasts are abused, what's supposed to be highlighted and important loses all WEIGHT to it because EVERYTHING is important. It's all over it, there is NO place for me to RELAX and rest my eyes, it smacks me in the eye constantly. Read THIS and THIS AND THIS, read THIS as well and THIS, read THIS. There is no focus anywhere, the font is the same on the whole thing, your only contrasts are bold, size and a blue/grey colour contrast. Where is the font contrasts? If you're going for one font you should keep the other contrasts as simple as well, because that card is busy and fuck and won't let me rest if I ever put my eyes on it. I don't think it's bad though, but it's way too cluttered. Some good ideas and some a bit too generic thoughts that I have myself all the time (highlight shit with a different colour, so cool man).
Cool, thanks for the CC :buddy:, this was my first ever graphic design, I learned a lot of things while making it. Some stuff was requested to me to have more priority, this was at the end of the week so I got a bit lazy and mainly just made some stuff bigger, etc. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] Various versions for a facebook banner thing, I did it for my sisters company (starting it out with her bf and some friends). She randomly called me while I was playing DNF and asked for them, so they're pretty bad but I wanted to post them anyway. The actual text information was added in by her later, I just did as many of these as I could with not much effort on my part. There were 8 versions in the end (these 4 + without gradients) and two or three more in the PSD which I sent with them but they weren't any good The one with the black on top and logo in the middle was used in the end, I just sent everything and let her decide.
Why a clear strong saturated red background? That sure as hell rips ones eyes out. Sure, it grabs attention. To adblockers.
The colour scheme is red, black and white The fourth one balances it out pretty well, I'm thinking of doing something similar when I'll be designing the catalog. Though I'll definitely do versions with the other colours as primary, if you really feel that the red is too strong.

[editline]2nd July 2011[/editline] page two tell me your secrets
I'll work something out, it's going to be evened out by white text anyway thnanks
Added the first highlights! congrats oicani and wewt!

I mean I like it otherwise a lot the red doesn't bother me, but Facebook really screws it up. Anyway looking forward to the next version.
disregarding the background, this is the logo ive been using for my recent music projects
This typography infographic may be of some use to people. Even if you're not looking to design something, it's a neat thing to look through.

A new logo for a new client: Comments are welcome, again.
Rilez, did you try the fonts on the other logo?
Rilez, did you try the fonts on the other logo?
Yeah, but I get the feeling they're used to the one I picked out... the Collaboration font has a very strange t and I didn't like the other one I'm not sure if the client will go through with my logo though... it was an open design and one of the other competitors took my idea of the clock and used it in their own logo. The client has us both at about an even rating right now... even though the logo is supposed to be for print and the asshole that stole my idea has gradients on every piece of their design
I'm always careful when it comes to contests for a logo, make sure no one but the client sees my logo, I present them the logo personally and don't give them any image or file with the logo on it even if they ask, I don't want them to ditch me and go to another designer for him to steal my idea. Yeah, Colaborate has a really strange T, I hate it so much.
Part of an advert campaign up and coming clothing brand, these are going to be printed in a few magazines. This was the only one that has been approved so far design wise, now I have to add relative social networking information. (I hate kill fee's -_-)
Did anyone say font organization previously? http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/09/05/25-font-management-tools-reviewed/ Should cover something for every need. My bet is on Linotype FontExplorer X, MainType and FontExpert 2010.

(I hate kill fee's -_-)
maybe you could make the social icons with a stencil-like style, so it doesn't break the overall style and colors of the design.
Awesome idea, thanks.
Here's a whole load of random crap for various uni/client/personal stuff. I want to major either in this or maybe photojournalism in college. as for logo, I made this for my Yearbook page I was assigned. It was MUN (Model United Nations) I made the UN logo from scratch

(I scratched out the teachers face and name for privacy.) And in my class me and my friends gave each other a challenge. The rules were to use the lyrics from a song and incorporate it into something meaningful in your life and we had to make it before the end of class which was in 15 minutes. I created this

The lyrics are from Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and the memorable moment is when I was just laying down looking at the stars feeling sorry for myself and a good friend came up to me and looked at the stars with me. I've only been doing this on and off for about a year and a half by just teaching myself. I think I am progressing quite nicely without any instruction.
Client wanted a new crest for their fraternity... something new and fresh, "possibly" incorporating aspects from the old crest. They provided two resources, one picture of the original crest and one picture of a new triangle logo that represents their frat. First design, I simplify the shield and incorporate part of their new logo "idea" in the middle... liked the "simple" approach, wanted more aspects of the crest. I reply and ask them what aspects they would like to include the most... 2 days and no response later, I just decide to add some of the features I thought tied in the best, and submitted. Another day, and he rates it 1 star out of 5, just like the last. I look at the design submissions, and one has 3 stars. I take a peek... It's literally a fucking vector of the original crest. He LiveTraced the original crest, LiveTraced the new triangle, put a "gold" gradient on the triangle, and slapped the triangle in the middle. My attempt: [thumb]http://gyazo.com/63c7faaca038306ea8afc8d3038e05f8.png[/thumb] His entry: I'm pissed that I wasted this much time on the project for him to prefer a LiveTrace... he's planning on using this new design on print. Good luck.
oh wow, words cannot describe how poor that design is. yours is way more awesome than that shit that looks like it was raped by the cutout filter
