I don't think that's very... 8-bit.
I actually like it so much, I'm going to make it my avatar. I didn't follow the 5 colors thing, wanted to be able to do the background too. Although, it's not very 8 bit, I apologize.

I wasted some time doing it but whatever. I even listened to chiptune while doing it lol.
8 bit is neither low resolution or "5 colors" as the term 8 bit refers to the cpu used on the computers from that era and not the graphics they were capable of, here's some info about how popular computers from the 8bit era handled graphics: The Commodore 64 has 4-bits of color, in other words can have a maximum of 16 colors available for use, but it doesn't just end there, there are some limitations on the display modes of the computer. The commodore has 2 official graphics modes: multicolor and hires (I guess demoscene gfx modes don't count here because they are pretty complex). The hires videomode can use a maximum of 2 colors from the 4bit palette in each "attribute cell" of 8x8 with a resolution of 320x200 and you will get Attribute clash on work that isn't monochrome unless you use the 8 available sprites of the machine to cover the defects (sprites can be either hires or multicolor, size is 24x21 and 12x21 each depending on mode) The multicolor mode has a resolution of 160x200 because pixels are in that mode are 2x1 but allow for the use of 4 colors in each 8x8 attribute cell, sprites on either mode can be moved with a resolution of 320x200 regardless of the videomode of the background. Palette: The ZX Spectrum uses a palette of 3 bits + 1 bit of brightness and lacked hardware sprites and videomodes so it uses hires which functions the same way it does on the c64 but you can't cover attribute clash with sprites, the resolution used is 256x192. There are 8 colors from the 3 bit which can be either "Bright" or "Dark". Like the commodore, the spectrum divides the screen in attribute cells of 8x8 with two colors, there's also the limitation of not being able to use Bright and Dark colors on a single attribute cell Palette: The NES/Famicom has palette with 56 colors with 8x8 or 8x16 sprites and can use a maximum of 25 colors at once, you can use 3 colors per sprites with a maximum of 12 colors using them, and the background is divided on 16x16 tiles which can have 3 colors + 1 which is shared across the background with a maximum of 13 colors, the limit of sprites is 64 per screen and 8 per horizontal line, it uses a resolution of 256x240 pixels. Palette: So, all of the consoles listed can display higher resolution than the avatar size, and have more limitations than you'd think, you could do the pixel art by selecting the colors by hand, but then it wouldn't be true "8 bit", just pixel art or optimizing images for dialup modems with overheating problems. Since i have no avatar because i'm a uncreative fuck i can't submit anything else than just information, so, if you feel like doing the pixel art is too easy or just don't know how to do it you can try using this wall of text nobody understands as a guide for your pixely masterpiece.
I don't think that's very... 8-bit.
Yeah, I tried but it ended up looking like Dungeons of Dredmore.
Eh what the hell, I'll do mine.
Not quite 8-bit, but close enough already

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do I do this?
I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do I do this?
Zoom in really far, and use the pencil tool
I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do I do this?
create a 32x32 (or whatever size you preferr) canvas and use paint tool to draw your avatar
So what? The sooner everyone stops making shit storms out of nothing, the better.
You're right. I apologize.
