Sometimes the space bar locks/unlocks. Should be a small padlock around the bottom right. That could be the cause, also try pressing...X I think it is that brings and hides the gizmo.

I just can't select an object by clicking anything but edges.
Thanks. :) I took the 3 minutes to make a proper marmoset render, how's this? [img_thumb]http://www.1337upload.net/files/1ships_017_marmoset.png[/img_thumb]
That stronger specular looks 10x more radical.
Then I'm unsure what else to suggest. Sorry.
I hate max. I turned progressive improvement or whatever off and back on and then changed shading mode from realistic to shaded and back and it fixed the thing. I just don't get it.
programs aren't perfect
1 can we not talk about this in the 3d thread 2 let's be real here and talk about this in the 3d thread. it's not even arguable. it's a fairy tale, it's impossible, stupid to attempt to rationalize and most importantly: never fuckin happened
was the 2nd part really necessary? you couldn't just leave it out?

I like the matte satiny finish. It makes me think of figurines like the ones in Coraline or something.
First assignment for uni, and first model I've finished all the way through. Unsmoothed is around 3k faces
It's very nice, keep at it.
A time ago I saw something about rendering 3D models in a pixelart style, but I can't seem to find it. :( Can someone help me?
A time ago I saw something about rendering 3D models in a pixelart style, but I can't seem to find it. :( Can someone help me?
DOG-GY can, he's the one who came up with it.
A time ago I saw something about rendering 3D models in a pixelart style, but I can't seem to find it. :( Can someone help me?
I remember how DOG-GY said to do it, he did like a matte (ink n' paint in 3ds max) texture on just a standard model, then he rendered it in low resolution and scaled it up.
was the 2nd part really necessary? you couldn't just leave it out?
thats the point [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] also I'm at fuckin Game Jam yo!

I've been considering buying TurboSmooth Pro. Would you guys recommend it?
I've been wanting to get into 3D modelling for awhile, where do ya'll recommend I start?
I've been wanting to get into 3D modelling for awhile, where do ya'll recommend I start?
I started using Cinema 4D, their layout is pretty newb-friendly. But if you want to learn the basics of modelling i recommend Zbrush or Mudbox. And later on when you're into advance modelling you should use 3Ds StudioMax or Blender. imo

Please help again! 3ds max When you enter pivot adjustment mode your selection arrows also show these "3d" line arrows. Now these things do not appear and I can't tell if I'm in pivot mode or not. No X does not help here as I can see normal manipulators just fine.
Bear in mind it's a very heavy WIP. Rough shapes and such. Any suggestions?

Rob, check out Blender, it's free, robust and pretty versatile.
