So hyped up for the Rush gig I'm going to 4th of May
Mine's on the 21st. My friend's is on the 12th. 2112 bitches. :smug:
I could go to the one on the 16th, but it's 2 days after I see The Wall in London and 1 day before I have a physics exam. :v:
The show is in Helsinki, so thats an hour and a half drive from my house. This appears to be a great time to listen to some Rush to prepare! Also, apparently they are playing the whole Moving Pictures album in the show.
The owner of my local music shop told me that if he ever sees of copy of Rush's "Vapor Trails", he'll put it to one side for me. Only thing is, he'll charge £6.50 for it and it's on Amazon for £4.97 but I don't want to rob him of a sale because he's a really nice guy and he runs the shop all by himself. Although he does have Wired by Jeff Beck on vinyl for £10
Dream Theater just released the first part of their three part documentary about the drummer auditions. (Embedding Disabled) They show Mike Mangini's audition and I really like this guy. I hope the rest are as good or better than him.
So do i have to be on acid to fully understand the epic greatness of Prog?
So do i have to be on acid to fully understand the epic greatness of Prog?
No, you just need to listen to it and then you can choose if there is any epic greatness in it to understand.
So do i have to be on acid to fully understand the epic greatness of Prog?
I've never used any form of drug, but I still think prog rock is fucking amazing.
Wig Wam is a band that needs to be looked into. [editline]25th April 2011[/editline]
So do i have to be on acid to fully understand the epic greatness of Prog?
You don't have to be, but apparently it can boost results.
Wig Wam is a band that needs to be looked into.
I hope you're not talking about these guys: Norwegian glam rock band...
So do i have to be on acid to fully understand the epic greatness of Prog?
Only mentally inferior people need to, for everyone else it amplifies the greatness by 20 fold.
Only mentally inferior people need to, for everyone else it amplifies it by 20 fold.
Not necessarily. Although I don't want to advise people to take drugs, some of the people I've heard comments from have said things about music in ways a sober person wouldn't be able to experience, in order to understand. There can be abilities to open the mind even further so you are even more involved. I'm trying to get there, just without the psychedelic drugs.

I can't afford having my rational thinking deteriorate, because of what I do in school. [editline]25th April 2011[/editline] Oh shit I should probably stop this. Don't want this thread turning into a massive drug discussion :v:

But judging from the preview thing at the end it sounds like they were blown away by Virgil Donati. Which would be absolutely amazing.
Bought the new Between the buried and me album The parallax: hypersleep dialogues. Has three tracks,Apparently it's a LP, all running about 30 Minutes all together. What i enjoy about this album is how the whole album tells a story from start to finish.

I still haven't heard ELP's In The Hot Seat album. Apparently that's the most hated prog album of all time. :smith:
I thought the most hated was Topographic Oceans?
I thought the most hated was Topographic Oceans?
You insane bro? Whoever hates that is a fool. The cover has become an icon within the genre anyway.
You insane bro? Whoever hates that is a fool.
I think the reason people dislike it is because it was an example of the worst excesses of prog. There were points in the album where I was sat thinking "okay so where exactly are you going with this" and 7 minutes later I would be thinking the same/ It has its moments of awesomeness (like Wakeman's synthesiser solo at the end of the first track) but there's a lot of filler.

It isn't so much of a journey like the others, it's more like a place you've got to go and adapt to. I may be talking as if I'm high, but that's how this thread has to go :smug:
Really gotta get myself this. How is it compared to Colors?
It's not their best album, but it is another amazing album by them. I loved colors, one of their best albums but i like The Great Misdirect more than it. Also, this album is the first of two albums which go together, Their next will contiune the story in this one.
Ah sweet. Do they have an actual full length in the works, or was it just this EP?
