Tell me this guy's wrong. He pretty much summed up my entire philosophy. Religion is elitist, but Jesus' love is available to everyone. Gay and Straight. Black and White. What do you think? NO "doesn't matter, God's fake" shit. This is meant to inspire intelligent discussion, not flame wars. Be respectful.
He says he loves the Bible, he loves the Church, and believes in sin. If those three things aren't cornerstones of the christian religion, I don't know what is. Sounds like he's talking out of his ass.
Stolen from TAA video: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB) Jesus sounds like a dick, to be honest.
He says he loves the Bible, he loves the Church, and believes in sin. If those three things aren't cornerstones of the christian religion, I don't know what is. Jesus was made to do 2 things: 1) Embody God as proof that God is compatible with man and, 2) Provide the opportunity for all sinners (that's the entire human population) to enjoy forgiveness through grace. That's what he means when he says he believes in sin. The church originally meant the entire body of Christ (e.g. all Christians in general), not a building or a specific group of Christians. That's what he meant by The Church. The Bible, while we've had 2,000 years to fuck it up (and have) still contained unalienable truths as to the Christian faith and the personality of God, 2 very important things to understand in order to experience the freedom Christianity offers. That's what he meant by The Bible.
This was posted in the other thread about religion. He is basically saying he doesn't like sports, but he likes football. He also seems to forget that Jesus was, according to the bible, a Jew. He spouts off a bunch of rhymes and contradicts himself numerous times throughout it. He apparently loves the Bible he says, but hates religion, forgetting that stuff about setting up religious rules, like Leviticus and Deuteronomy.. are part of the Bible. So is all the stuff in the latter half of the New Testament about the guidelines for starting the first Churches, like the roles of Bishops and Deacons (religion). He delivers his performance with enough confidence to make most of his audience forget that his message doesn't make sense and he's ultimately talking out of his ass.

He said alot of things (like give away all your money if you're rich and pluck out your eye if you look on a woman with lust) that were designed to display the destructive capability of the Judaic Law.
jesus has said plenty of unsavoury things http://www.evilbible.com/what_would_jesus_do.htm
jesus has said plenty of unsavoury things http://www.evilbible.com/what_would_jesus_do.htm
You obviously didn't read my previous post. [editline]time[/editline] And getting your information from a website called Evil Bible doesn't do much for your credibility.
You obviously didn't read my previous post. [editline]time[/editline] And getting your information from a website called Evil Bible doesn't do much for your credibility.
I didn't read your post because I didn't have time to read your goddamn post because I posted after you posted your god damn post Afraid of the site's name? It links to quotes in the Bible. That should be good enough for you, right?
Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets.
This right here absolutely destroys this site's credibility. Jesus came to fulfill the law and, in doing so, replace it with a new law and a new system. And please, go read about the harsh teachings. You may learn something about the faith you so obviously hate.
Questions: -How can you be sure that the Bible contained "unalienable truths" about the nature of the christian God if you admit that you "fucked it up over 2000 years" -How is an entire race being preemptively doomed to sin supposed to be a good thing
This right here absolutely destroys this site's credibility. Jesus came to fulfill the law and, in doing so, replace it with a new law and a new system.
Then why do you still follow the ten commandments?
I don't. I threw away the 10 Commandments bookmark my grandma got me. I cannot stand the current obsession with these 10 stupid sentences. The new law was based on one single commandment. Love your neighbor and love your God as your God loves you. It was designed to cover all the bases.

What does "fulfilling" the laws even mean then? Why does the old testament even exist? Why do people FOLLOW the old testament (or not? what gives them the right to pick and choose?)
considering they cite the passages of the bible where he says these things i don't think we need to worry about their credibility since we can look this up ourselves
I'm saying their reasoning behind siting the passages is completely incorrect. On top of that, they obviously don't know the history or context behind many of those passages. [editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+5%3A17&version=NIV it's right fucking there, how obtuse can you get? “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Why do people FOLLOW the old testament (or not? what gives them the right to pick and choose?)
Sounds strangely like what I said. You do realize that the prophecies talked about the coming of the Son. "And I will take a people who are not my people and make them my people." That's in reference to the gentiles. [editline]time[/editline] Sounds like fulfillment to me.
I don't. I threw away the 10 Commandments bookmark my grandma got me. I cannot stand the current obsession with these 10 stupid sentences. What gives you the authority to do this under GOD? He CREATED those commandments, at least according to Moses, so why don't you follow them?
I think he's talking about organized religion, not religion as a whole.
So you didn't like them? Why was that? What gives you the authority to do this under GOD? [editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
I think he's talking about organized religion, not religion as a whole.
Thank you.
But he says he loves the Church, so I think he's just dumb.
They are part of Judaic Law and, as such, don't apply to Christians.
So you're saying the God that made them is not your God?
But he says he loves the Church, so I think he's just dumb.
I posted this earlier: The church originally meant the entire body of Christ (e.g. all Christians in general), not a building or a specific group of Christians. That's what he meant by The Church. [editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
So you're saying the God that made them is not your God?
The God that made them changed them. Replaced them. Again, that quote about the gentiles.
So you didn't like them? Why was that? What gives you the authority to do this under GOD? He CREATED those commandments, at least according to Moses, so why don't you follow them?
The Old Testament is called the Old Testament for a reason. Those laws all existed because Jesus had not made his sacrifice yet. There was no way to completely wipe away your sins back then, just cover them up. After Jesus came and died on Earth, the law was changed. Forget everything the Old Testament said. Once you accept forgiveness(a free gift that does not require you to attend church, study any religious documents, or completely change your lifestyle) you are saved. You are going to Heaven. The Bible encourages you trying to avoid sin, but if you make a mistake you're still saved. After you accept forgiveness, you are forgiven as long as you have faith, even "as small as a mustard seed." Every rule that had existed was replaced with love. Accept love, give love, and share love.
The God that made them changed them. Replaced them. Again, that quote about the gentiles.
Why did he change them? He's omniscient. He knows EVERYTHING, past, present and future. What possible reason could He have had for changing them?
But he says he loves the Church, so I think he's just dumb.
The Church means the body of Christ, the actual Christians themselves, not a building, country, or government.
I can't tell if he was serious about pornography being an addiction or if he just put the word in there so the line fit within the rhyme scheme or something.
Why did he change them? He's omniscient. He knows EVERYTHING, past, present and future. What possible reason could He have had for changing them?
He is, we aren't. That's why he gave us first the impossible laws of the old testament. The passage I posted illustrates that it was always God's intention to replace the old laws.
Why did he change them? He's omniscient. He knows EVERYTHING, past, present and future. What possible reason could He have had for changing them?
Because he made a new covenant with the people on Earth.

Jesus: "It's cool bro, we all beat a man to death every now and then" Meanwhile well intentioned Atheists and other non-Christians rot in hell for all eternity.
But he says he loves the Church, so I think he's just dumb.
I think he is reffering to the biblical term of Church, not the building for example.
