Uploaded these pictures a while ago on my flickr, but didn't bother posting them here. This was mainly a testcase to test out my new Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 on my 40D. I love the colour rendering of this lens.
Quick question: can you just take photographs of strangers whitout their permission in the us? In Germany they can sue you and they would have the right to forcefully take your SD card or film even if it breaks your camera and I think in switzerland, where I live, it would be going in the same direction.
I don't know how people can do that, I've never taken a photo of a stranger without permission. Even photographing events can make me feel awkward.
Any advice?
I'm really not the one you should take advice from, as I'm quite an amateur. But I'd say there should be a greater difference between the background colour and the hair colour of the model, and those short pieces of his arms that we see are sort of distracting to me.
Quick question: can you just take photographs of strangers whitout their permission in the us? I guess you'd need model releases if you were to use photos for commercial purposes or something.
it differs by state, but in general you can take pictures of people in public spaces as long as it's for personal use and you're not making money [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] yeah what penguinkris said
Here in Norway, you're allowed to post photos of people either if they are a "public person", basically like celebrities or someone else who a lot of people might be interested in seeing photos of, or if the individual in the photo is not relevant for the subject. For instance a large gathering of people, or a photo where the main subject is something else. The lines here for what is allowed and what is not are quite vague though. Also, 8/52:
I took a 170 kilometer trip to a friend of mine, and took some images from the bus and at his house: The above images are all clickable for larger versions.
There is a slight, overall 'unsharpness' that sorta bothers me, and the the bottom 4 shots reek of higher-iso-dullness (noise isn't a problem, it's the color). The blown highlights on 3 and 4's faces don't help. I don't like the yellow temperature/tones to be honest. It makes the skin look jaundice-y. #2 is exempt from these crits, and is the best of the set. It reminds me of the stuff from your SDS Series in Århus which is my favorite work from you. As far as posing, it's not bad, but it doesn't hurt to get a little more interesting. Check out some poses here, and also give this whole video a good watch. It's mostly geared toward headshots, but you can apply it elsewhere in your shooting. This is good too. [sub]Sorry if this ruins the page with auto-playing audio for some of you![/sub]
That was awesome Bopie! I told her about what you said and we watched the first movie you posted, and we tried taking a shot with her head like that. No makeup etc. but it works great. Strong jawline and longer neck!
