I see plenty of vibrant images.
I see plenty of vibrant images.
It's just that quite a bit of people here stick to safe and dull colors for their images
It's just that quite a bit of people here stick to safe and dull colors for their images
I'm just not a fan of most vibrantly colored photos. I prefer B&W and low saturation photos.
It's just that quite a bit of people here stick to safe and dull colors for their images
It's a personal choice. Some people choose to up the saturation on their horrible pictures so that it 'looks great', while the picture itself is actually pretty bad. They reason most people, including me, shoot black and white is because you focus more on the subjects in your pictures instead of colors and other shit which could detract from the subject. When I started out with photograhpy, I shot a lot of pictures with lots of saturation because it would grab your attention. While it does that, it doesn't make the picture good.

It's commonly used as a cheap gimmick to make otherwise boring photos look ~deep~
Almost all of my recent photos are vibrant and contrasty. Is that a bad thing? I generally use it because it suits my style of shooting in most situations.

I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to photography, but I like to hike a lot so I figured I'd give a shot to photo shooting some of the sights. These are far from very creative or impressive, but I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what should I do to improve these!(Or point me in the right direction for some good learning resources)

The colours on that last one are really nice, if a little too contrasty on her face.

Where did you take that big blue? Also I went to see a comedian tonight, he's the guy who did the evolution of dance video on YouTube.
Where did you take that big blue?
took it in my school's basement, some locked off (usually) room that used to be used by students to make yearbook stuff and flyers. there are some pretty old messages all over the walls, even one from kato kaelin
Inspired by This: http://www.flickr.com/groups/89209252@N00/discuss/72157600032755971/ I decided to pick up a couple of cheap extension tubes and an old folding camera and set up something similar. This was the result (Warning cell phone pictures): Its a little tricky to get focused, but I am pleased with the way these first few test shots came out. I guess I know it works well for macro shots, at least.
Seen the filament thing done a jack-ton of times, but that's a pretty neat shot if you ask me. Some good quality macros for sure mate, wouldn't have suspected such a hairy setup.
