Why'd did some asshole run it into the ground? and how did he have the power to kick JWJ out if he ran it? Someone please summarise the events leading up to this!!
Because all of the individuals beyond my access clearance with the exception of the immediate previous general ganager (Larry) didn't know how to run the company. I will summarize the events within the hour. I haven't eaten. I'd like to do that before talking more, really. But I'm answering questions as fast as possible. You guys post fast.
Wanna reccommend any good server providers for us now ex brohoster users to switch to?
Why'd did some asshole run it into the ground? and how did he have the power to kick JWJ out if he ran it? Someone please summarise the events leading up to this!!
Club Uptime, LLC owned Brohoster. They dropped Jake for various reasons.
Wanna reccommend any good server providers for us now ex brohoster users to switch to?
Lethal Drive. Heh.
if it was still alive after the whole jwj fiasco a month ago, why did it suddenly just get reclaimed? for those who are unaware of the brohoster events, read this whole thread. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1097710-Brohoster-Proving-their-Excellent-Services-Yet-Again/
Payments apparently. I'm still talking with the old staff now about it.
By "reclaimed" what do you mean? Repo'd, sold, confiscated, ect?
Alright, well if there's anywhere I can read up on it or something, let me know.
There's so much, I'll put everything up on the OP to encompass even stuff that went down from the beginning of the company back when I was working with Vlad, and FP moderators were apart of the team. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
Pepper;31389139'](from what i remember) what happened was JWJ and some other guy started brohoster and turn out to be quite successful a few months down the line just before JWJ was old enough to be able to part own it or something the other guy kicks him out and fires someone else then tries to sell the thing when people find out brohoster is rotting from the inside out and start leaving en mass. I have no idea what happened after that.
Jake is the sole founder of Brohoster. He brought myself, Vlad, and some other FP mods on the team to help out.
There's so much, I'll put everything up on the OP to encompass even stuff that went down from the beginning of the company back when I was working with Vlad, and FP moderators were apart of the team.
Cool, I appreciate it. I'm genuinely curious about all this, having heard about it for quite a while but never really looked into it.
So he just took the money and ran? :ohdear:
I'm probably the last person to blame Matt for this right now, considering all of this is too hot to point fingers, but he did make some purchases lately that make me wonder where he's gotten the money from. I've been saving up to build a computer, and it looks like I won't be able to do that. I'll end up freezing my bank accounts so I force myself to not spend anything. I don't have much money as it is.
Cool, and I never got the EPP code to my domain. So now I'll be talking to ICANN.
You think that was part of why everything jumped ship? Were the IRS going to do anything?
No. Paying off the company's debts is apparently the issue. The IRS was never involved. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
$93,000 I don't really no much about the history of the company accept that JWJ was kicked out but who ever was the owner, JWJ should take him to court unless there was some other circumstances I am not aware of.
The company was never signed over. We have doubts about the legality of the transfer of everything. Everything at the business was always done so unprofessionally, regardless of the staff being able to take care of things in ridiculous professionalism all while still treating folks like bros.
Good because after not giving me my domain, closing my account and implementing malicous scripts on my site for everyone who used it you fucking deserve it
Finally.
Thanks for your statement, I can no longer pay for college. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
By "reclaimed" what do you mean? Repo'd, sold, confiscated, ect?
Confiscated is pretty accurate I suppose, our servers are physically owned by Softlayer and Hetzner, if we cannot pay them off, they're "reclaimed", formatted, and reevaluated for others to use.
Eh, shouldn't you ex-Brohoster guys be calling your lawyers right about now if Matt took the money that was supposed to be payed to you guys? And if Brohoster, or Club Uptime (Typical sounding faceless corporation name, eh?) were in debt, then I bet some corporate whore somewhere is blowing his top.
Thanks for your statement, I can no longer pay for college.
How do you expect to pay for your college now?
Well, fuck Most of my backups were stored locally, but all my configs were on there A. Serves me right for not backing up on my computer and B. Well fuck
Cool, and I never got the EPP code to my domain. So now I'll be talking to ICANN.
Don't pin that on Brohoster, web services haven't been around since Jake was. Everything that was web service related or VPS based fell under Club Uptime's jurisdiction, not ours. None of the staff knew a thing about that. Our TeamSpeak stuff had also went neglected, as Jake was kicked out and we never knew how to maintain them because he did that all himself. I never touched that stuff. No one was trained. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
Good because after not giving me my domain, closing my account and implementing malicous scripts on my site for everyone who used it you fucking deserve it
Fuck you. Read my post above. Do you mean to say any of us have any money right now? It's not like legal action is anything we're all worried about anything, no one in the business or even the parent company is in any position to sue.
to be honest, the entire thing was handled unprofessionally and was bound to fail almost from the beginning. for the first few weeks everything was ostensibly good but it went sour fast.
How do you expect to pay for your college now?
I don't, yet.
Great, I just renewed my TS server a few weeks ago and you know, I kind of thought about not doing it because Jake left. Sad to hear that you just lost your brohoster job though.
Well, fuck Most of my backups were stored locally, but all my configs were on there A. Serves me right for not backing up on my computer and B. Well fuck
Anyone who owns a server should always back up things locally, no matter who you're with, but you should be able to impart some confidence that your host company won't leave within 5 minutes at any given time.
I don't, yet.
If you're independent and live in the States, you could always try financial aid. Might get lucky.
Aaah shit. I just signed up for to move to Lithium hosting. I sure as hell hope it isn't too late and all of my stuff is now gone.
Thanks for your statement, I can no longer pay for college.
Man, that must really fucking suck, Have any ideas how to get your money back? or is there no way?
I don't, yet.
Perhaps if we rate you with enough hearts you could sell them in an organ market to pay for college.
to be honest, the entire thing was handled unprofessionally and was bound to fail almost from the beginning. for the first few weeks everything was ostensibly good but it went sour fast.
Brohoster has always been unorganized, since day 0 to now. Communication has always been poor, and its staff members have never been properly utilized. That's for another discussion. I may or may not bring that up later. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline]
If you're independent and live in the States, you could always try financial aid. Might get lucky.
I'm going to do so.
no one in the business or even the parent company is in any position to sue.
'Cept for Matt of course. I bet he breached at least 7 US federal laws if he just took all the money like that.
Aaah shit. I just signed up for to move to Lithium hosting. I've got a server with them, or at least I had, what's going on with money and such?
Shame to hear AMC. At least you can get back to HL2:SB, but I hope you find employment elsewhere.
