A World in Balance, Turn 6 - 2500BC
Current World Map
•Azothia [Dark Grey] - Seed Eater
•United Petrograd [Green] - Sobotnik
•The Sol Confederacy [Orange] - UrbanMachismo
•City State of Hotaka [Red Orange] - Vampiresrock
•Escova [Harvard Crimson] - wizard`
•The Unified Holy Lands of Waterwell [Red] - MountainWatcher

•Brotherhood of Mandalores [Indigo] - VOSK
•Jasanasnlem [Dark Blue] - asantos3
•Riverburg [Brown] - kamikaze470
As the world grows at a seemingly exponential rate, governments take shape and the city states of old slowly become true nations. Already, as populations rise in the outlying villages and main cities of these nations, plans are already laid for new population centres, with work beginning almost as quickly as the previous cities were finished.
Azothia - Dark Grey - [Seed Eater]
National Religion: Order of the Old Ones
Technology: Copper Tools, Basic Farming Techniques, Copper Shields, The Wheel, Sulfur, Bows and Arrows
-Azothian hunters develop the Bow and Arrow. It is implimented into the military quickly.
-Slave labour is split between the Azothian Wall and the fortifications around the second city.
-Jewels are circulated as 'high worth' currency. As rare as they are, usually having one jewel is a sign of immense wealth. However it also limits the trading you can do since most merchants don't carry anywhere near enough coin to make change.
-The dead are buried in crypts and catacombs dug under the city.
-In the dead of winter, a holiday is established called the Solstice Celebration that ushers in the new year and looks back on the previous year. Sacrifices are made from each settlement as a token to the gods.
United Petrograd - Green - Sobotnik
National Religion: Emernihgt
Technology: Basic Farming Techniques, Sailing Canoes, The Wheel, Iron
-Petran miners and smiths discover a new metal which they name Iron. It is harder to mine, smelt, and smith than Copper or Bronze, but is also higher quality. Large quantities of metals are gathering dust in foundries, however, as no one really knows what to do with it.
-A new directive is issued to the troops to capture enemy soldiers if possible. These Prisoners of War are sold into slavery.
-Emernihgt priests are sent out to the surrounding countryside, and two enclaves decide to join Petrograd.
-Slave Rights are introduced to at least protect them against murder, however it is still legal to kill a slave if you have justifiable cause.
-A basic law system is established. Murder is punished by execution unless it was in self defence, and thieves are sold into slavery.
The Sol Confederacy - Orange - UrbanMachismo
National Religion: Solism
Technology: Advanced Farming Techniques, Stone Spears, The Wheel, Sailing Canoes, Copper
-Solian miners discover copper.
-Gifts are distributed to local villages. Two enclaves are moved enough to join the Confederacy.
-A law system is established. Murder is punished by hard labour until death, and thievery/assault are punished by two years of hard labour.
YOUR FLAG IS NOT THE RIGHT SIZE VAMPIRE. 250x150 NOTHING ELSE
City State of Hotaku - Red Orange - Vampiresrock
National Religion: Hotanity
Technology: Stone tools, Advanced Farming Techniques, Animal Husbandry, Sailing Canoes
-Not much happens in Hotaku.
Escova - Crimson - wizard`
National Religion: Cogitari
Technology: Advanced Farming Techniques, The Wheel, Paper, Copper
-Escovan miners discover Copper.
-A large paved road is built between the Capitol and the new city.
-Wealthy merchants are given small military escorts by the government.
-The currency of the land is changed to engraved copper coins.
-Missionaries are sent to the surrounding countryside to convince other villages to join Escova. Two accept.
The Unified Holy Lands of Waterwell - Red - MountainWatcher
National Religion: Physicalism
Technology: Stone tools, Basic Farming Techniques, Basic Medicine, Sailing Canoes, Bows and Arrows, Herbal Painkillers
-Waterwell medicine men discover a mixture of herbs that, when brewed into a strong tea, deaden the nerves of men and reduce pain.
-Waterwell workers clear trees to make roads between the two cities.
-Lower taxes are introduced for clergy members
-Waterwell Missionaries are sent out to the local area to attempt to sway more villages, but no one seems receptive.
-A forum is created in the capitol city for the educated to debate and discuss various topics. However due to a lack of a school system there aren't many educated, and the forum quickly becomes a place where Priests teach about their religion.
The Consortium of Federation - Purple - Mrakz
National Religion: The Dinosaur Revivalists
Technology: Stone tools, Advanced Farming Techniques, Animal Husbandry, Bows and Arrows, The Wheel
-An edict is passed that new leaders will be voted on when the current leader dies. Most of the citizens, who liked watching their leaders fight to the death, are somewhat upset by this news, but prospective leaders tend to like it.
Ravinia - Maroon - Mr. Face
National Religion: Halla
Technology: Stone tools, Basic Farming Techniques, Animal Husbandry, Bows and Arrows, Rudimentary Naptha, Copper Shields
-Ravinian woodsmen create crude wooden shields, and when they go to pitch their idea to the military, they find them already decked out in shiny new Copper shields. Those Halladamned smiths!
-[sp]Fucks sake, Face. Put some more shit in your turn. Everyone else has schools and laws and a currency and marketplaces and your people are still barely a step out of nomadic barbarians.[/sp]
The Brotherhood of Mandalores - Indigo - VOSK
National Religion: Mandalism
Technology: Stone tools, Advanced Farming Techniques, Copper, Chain Mail
-Mandalorian smiths manage to create a new form of armour made with many linked circlets of copper. This new armour is much more durable and protective than the thick hides they were wearing.
-Military academies are set up in the capitol to train new recruits in the art of warfare. They take classes in strategy and run military drills. The Mandalorian army quickly becomes one of the most well trained fighting forces in the world. Relatively speaking.
-A paved road is built between the capitol and the new settlement.
-Mandalorian diplomats travel to nearby villages to offer them safety within the Brotherhood. One accepts.
-A military caste society quickly develops, where being a Soldier is one of the most prestigious things a man can be.
Jasanasnlem - Dark Blue - asantos3
National Religion: Gudenaisaszeme
Technology: Stone tools, Basic Farming Techniques, Stone Spears, Basic Medicine
-The military is instructed in the ways of torture, which becomes the predominant form of interrogation.
-Citizens between the ages of 20 and 25 are conscripted into the army and made to serve until they are 30. This hurts the nation's economy, as that age group is the current median age for all of the craftsmen and artisans that are supposed to teach the new generation how to work a trade.
-Taxes are introduced to the Wealthy, which mostly means merchants and the ruling class.
-Medicine is offered to the surrounding villages if they join Jasanasnlem, but no one accepts the offer. When they don't, they're poisoned. Word spreads of Jasan treachery quickly. (You now must roll even lower to convince other villages to join you)
Riverburg - Brown - kamikaze470
National Religion: Tha'oral
Technology: Stone tools, Basic Farming Techniques, Stone Axes, Sailing Canoes, Animal Husbandry
-Riven farmers begin domesticating livestock animals.
-The military is reformed to work exactly like it already does.
-Roads are paved between larger settlements, with directional pillars that point the way.
-Local villages are given gifts in attempt to get them to join Riverburg. One enclave accepts.
-Slavery is legalized, but stipened heavily. Owning a slave puts you into a much higher tax bracket which is about double what the average citizen makes. To get around this many people hire 'endentured servants' and pay them a very small amount. Not technically slaves.
Now send in your next turn!
If you're joining in now, send your nation sheet and first turn together. The nation sheet can be found in the OP.
Subject: [Nation Name]: Turn 7
Maybe I'm a nomadic and barbaric tribe.
Seriously though, I'll add more to my turns.
Nomads and Barbarians didn't have two cities.
[QUOTE=Ven Kaeo;34735414]Nomads and Barbarians didn't have two cities.[/QUOTE]
Wait, what do you mean, I don't have a school system, my Order is teaching kids how to hunt, how to please the gods and all that other jazz.
You never put it in your turn to establish a school. Teaching kids to hunt isn't schooling. In this era schooling would be teaching language, mathematics, and tradecraft.
Solians are doing well in that. They've got a school system, their own language, and mathematics. So their children are being taught that stuff.
Well, I assumed what they teach evolve with what the nation knows. Hell, when I sent you the original turn with the order teaching stuff, I had in mind the order replacing the parents, so they could spend more time working, a parent, by this point, would be teaching them language, tradecraft, all that stuff.
Map is broked.
Fine for me.
Also Mountain your people won't have schools or universities unless you state it in a turn.
[editline]17th February 2012[/editline]
And at this point in time parents only teach their children what they need to survive, which is working fields.
Hey bastards send your turns in
I can't wait until two of the nations meet.
It'll definitely be fun.
Turn will be in soon, Dad.
I hope we meet soon enough to get some holy wars.
The first people to meet will most likely be Urban and Seed. I forsee holy wars there. Urban definitely doesn't like everyone using slave labour.

Ok, I will strike up a deal.
I will tie down everyone to the land, and they must work and provide services for their lord. In return the lord must protect his vassals.
Don't ask me, ask urban.

I'll probably start writing the turn soon. I brought my laptop to work so I could.
A man dedicated to his dinosaur revival sim.
I'm just going to say this, after writing Asantos' turn.
What the fuck is wrong with you boy.
No no no, not that barbaric. You see, the king gives land to his nobles. In return they provide military service to him. The slaves at the bottom work the nobles land, in return for military service and keeping enough food and goods for themselves and a little extra to hopefully sell.
Hmm, how about I rename the slaves as "Peasants"?
So turn is done when I get home at around 9:15 ish I'll do the map and post it around 10.

[QUOTE=Mr. Face;34763768]So Feudal?[/QUOTE]
I wonder if the system will catch on.
I'm gonna make the jump to Capitalism instead.
[editline]18th February 2012[/editline]
Eat Children, your name scares me as much as Sobotnik's profile picture.
I oughta get more into this type of politics, seems really fun.
I wonder if the system will catch on.[/QUOTE]Yeah, that's what I'm going to aim for as well.
