This is the current HUD so far, still give tips and things to make it better, or let me know if it is done!
For me,maybe try adding clock that based on your pc clock. Some player often forget the times. Also, throw in some effect (ex:when your health reach critical level, the HUD start to periodically flash red, while heartbeat can be heard) Add some glow to the healthbar (be it energy shield, enemy health) to make it attractive
To be honest what I usually do for huds, I just look up "garrys mod hud" on google images, search until I find a few that I like, take something from all of them and make them into something of my own. [editline]23rd June 2016[/editline] Also adding some materials like icons to health/armor/money/xp or whatever
I know this might be a dumb question, but how do I put silk icons on my hud :suicide:

thanks
thanks
By the way, that same thing works for any image you can find on the internet. You can draw a giant picture of a penis across your screen if you really wanted to.
Progress: Some things I Still Need Help With - Better Icon Pack - How to a clock based on the pc's local time - Again, improvements that would make it appealing
I think that the heatlh/hunger/armor indicators should be rounded boxes, not just boxes
Like this? I mean, it isn't too rounded, but just a little to make the bar look better
Please do not use photobucket for your image hosting, I'd recommend Imgur, it doesn't re scale your images into tiny pictures. As for your HUD, here are my suggestions: 1) Do not show the selected weapon name, there's no need for that, you can tell what weapon you have by looking at the view model, or just by remembering what weapon you selected. 2) Move the boxes away from the corners, add some minor spacing between the edge of the screen/game and the HUD boxes 3) Don't show the ammo HUD if there's nothing to display, i.e. the weapon has no ammo, etc. 4) Align your text evenly. "Thirst:" "Hunger" etc should be aligned as it is, "72", "81.5", "100" should be aligned on its own column. money level and xp should be more centered. Do not display decimals. 5) I dunno, the whole gray boxes with a dark gray outline looks very bland and unappealing, you should try to do something more original/creative/less bland. Don't be afraid to experiment. Google around, look at other games, other HUDs for inspiration. 6) I am not sure how much of a purpose those icons have considering you already have the text spelling out which bar is which.
I might try to make a variation of this from dayz [editline]24th June 2016[/editline] Also, anyone know a good icon pack to match some of the icons?
Also, anyone know a good icon pack to match some of the icons?
Flaticon is probably good for what you're looking for.
thanks

Ok, here is my current hud now, if you are very thirsty, hurt, or hunger the icon is red, if you are slightly hurt, thirsty, or hungry, the icon becomes green, if it is fine/perfect, it stays gray

(if you were using a healthicon of some sort)
I don't know how I would make that work out because it would just make the icon smaller
I don't know how I would make that work out because it would just make the icon smaller
Oh, yeah, you're right. Maybe someone else could help us? I would like to know how to do that as well.
I don't know how I would make that work out because it would just make the icon smaller
If you mean what I think you do, you might find render.SetScissorRect useful Just draw a bit of the icon without the rect, then a bit with it enabled (remember to turn it off afterward)
I don't know, I think it is pretty cool only knowing if you are slightly, critical, or normal with thirst, health, and hunger. And it is perfect for my gamemode(Just need to show xp, money, ect), should I really have to go any further?
You probably want to make the HUD a little bit opaque because its troublesome if its manage to blend with surrounding
A better font and some whitespace will do a lot. Try making concepts in Paint.NET-- see what looks good. Also, get rid of the transparent box behind it. Unnecessary and splotchy.
