Go with Elpis Host :)
Elpishost is great, go with them.
Or he can just go with Elpis straight away because they are better than all other providers in every aspect.
Why? The other guy is offering his services for free to try and persuade him that the rumours and bad reputation are not accurate. What could he possibly have to lose by taking him up on the offer?

@wingless, he doesn't have 500 posts + it's a linux that he is hosting. if you live in UK I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nitrous Networks https://nitrous-networks.co.uk/billing/aff.php?aff=490 - Affiliate Link <3

Yes, that is what I said... Windows server hosting and Linux server hosting causes 'Some' but 'Major' problems in Garry's Mod 13.
Linux server hosting causes 'Some' but 'Major' problems in Garry's Mod 13.
Haven't seen any myself.
Tiramisu gamemode is one that I can say with a 'Major' problem in animations, it's not Linux fault it's just that Garry's Mod 13 is not ready yet for it.
Tiramisu gamemode is one that I can say with a 'Major' problem in animations, it's not Linux fault it's just that Garry's Mod 13 is not ready yet for it.
If the developer of the gamemode doesn't make it with a case sensitive file system in mind then yes there will be problems. Garry's Mod itself runs fine on Linux with very little issues and I'm hosting several 32-64 slot servers (full) with no issue. Okay I won't say anything because I am not that skilled in hosting/knowing if Linux is bad it's just I know and had some problems with it running on linux but yeah, not trying to put you down or anything, most of the gamemodes that have Linux problems are dead anyway (Just like Tiramisu) Sorry to have bragged about Linux being horrible. IL SHADDAP NAOW :|
Elpis.
Haven't seen any myself.
How about the potentially tedius downtime when garry patches and thinks "Meh, linux can wait 3 weeks"?
How about the potentially tedius downtime when garry patches and thinks "Meh, linux can wait 3 weeks"?
using old binaries has almost always worked, and Tyler always puts the patch on the mod manager
How about the potentially tedius downtime when garry patches and thinks "Meh, linux can wait 3 weeks"?
He's gotten a lot better with supporting the Linux releases as of late - and the few times that it has happened I've been able to release a patch to all of my end users so they can still use their server. :)
Don't bother with any other server hosters... go with Elpis.
I went with Xenon and they had slow support, with uninformative answers. I switched to Elpishost recently and they are amazing. Tyler is a champion, support and quality is amazing and plus Elpishost offers live chat and most of the others don't do that. Yay Elpishost.
Vilayer. They're cheaper and probably have better quality than Xenon. They're definitely not bad by any means. The support is fast, but they have some weird policies. For example, I wanted to switch my DayZ server to a Garry's Mod server and was denied because I didn't ask within 24 hours after my DayZ server purchase. In any case, I have a GMod server now, and it seems to run flawlessly. If you're going to buy a server with Vilayer, get it in Dallas as that's where their main data server is located (meaning faster everything). Go with Vilayer. You can get better, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's worth the extra hole in your wallet.

It takes forever for Lee to respond to when we send in a support ticket or even personally message him. Sometimes they never get answered at all. Many people have posted the same thing. Did you like... Suck his dick or something? I don't understand how you get quick replies.

And I don't know what your definition of slow is, but how long did you wait to get your answers?

Sometimes 2-3 days, a week, or more, or even never at all and we just find a way to fix it ourselves or just live with it.

The reason why Tiramisu fucks around with Linux is because of case-sensitivity, and different file systems. Don't claim that something isn't ready for something unless you know what you are talking about. Garry is actually compiling Garry's Mod for Linux as well as Mac and Windows.
I got a free server from Elpis and everyone seemed to have a really high ping all of the time. It's still pretty good for a free server, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Considering the servers physical location in Dallas, Texas a ping of 140-180 to those locations is not bad at all. I'm planning on launching in Europe within a couple of months though so please check back again when that happens and hopefully your opinion will have changed.
Snip I'll PM instead.

I assume that you'll be announcing that somewhere?
Xenon has really nice DDoS protection.
server i helped run on xenon, we had ddos attacks and they put us on a much better machine and we got a better connection for free.
Xenon is great with DDoS protection but are a little slow on tickets because there resent staff problem. They have gotten better servers too; so no more lag!
Does anyone know if elpis do a coupon code or something?
I have had a great experience with Xenon Servers so far. I would recommend them. :)
