Still waiting for dat untethered ios5 jailbreak yo.
try following this (only video I could find for it)
Thanks, this lets me play music with the mic in but I can't actually use the mic :S [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] I wish someone would actually just make a tweak to enable speakers+mic
Still waiting for dat untethered ios5 jailbreak yo.
Still waiting for A jailbreak for the iPad 2 or iPhone 4s yo.
Tethered/semi tethered is tempting but I can live without it. Besides, the hackers are concentrating on 5.0 fw, and 5.01 untethered might take a long long time.
I know what you mean, I used to feel the same way. After running the iOS5 betas since B1, tethered is all that was available and I got used to it - never crashed once and left me without a phone and because of that, I'm happy to live with what I've got. I usually only have minimal tweaks enabled anyway!
Still waiting for A jailbreak for the iPad 2 or iPhone 4s yo.
Musclenerd has a JB in the works for the A5 chip, but it's still in development.
I had a big, huge derp moment. I sold my iPhone 4 for $420. Offered as jailbroken and unlocked. Well, I later found out 3.10.01 wasn't unlockable. Derp for not checking first. Luckily, I worked it out with the seller in purchasing a Gevey SIM for him instead. Then when I went to restore to 4.2.1, was just having restore issue after issue. Took me about 30 minutes to realize I just need to kick it out of recovery and run redsn0w. You see what switching to Android does to me?
Why don't you buy the Apple earphones? They come with a microphone build in and you can get 'em pretty cheap now a days [editline]17th November 2011[/editline]

Can't believe I'm being disagreed with - they're absolutely horrible. I mean a £10 pair of earphones are better quality than Apple earphones.

I can hear what my mates are talking RIGHT beside me when the earpiece is in my ears. 2. flat sound, distortion, weak bass 3. tends to slip out of my ears 4. easy to get dirty 5. Sound leaks out I would have given it away when i got my iphone had it not been for the built in microphone because you know, in case of an emergency. ( 1 ipod touch, 1 ipad, 1 phone) I gotten very used to its OS, cleanliness, simplicity and user friendliness. I had over 15 awesome tweaks on my iPhone at 1 time. ( bitesms, ifile, safari downloader, winterboard, mitube, quicklock, sbsettings, etc) I tried my mum's htc desire running android and i get frustrated because it seems to hard to navigate and cluttered. It true when people say once you get used and appreciate iOS's user friendliness, cleanliness and simplicity, you will find it hard to change to another platform.

I'm still kicking myself for upgrading to iOS 5. Is there a downgrade available?
I'm still kicking myself for upgrading to iOS 5. Is there a downgrade available?
Do you have SHSH keys?
No. I learned about jailbreaking while on 4.3.5 and I figured I would have no reason to downgrade seeing as I can't jailbreak 4.3.5, but upon upgrading to iOS 5, by iPod touch (4th gen) became really laggy. I don't even want the new features.
I'm kind of sad now. Everything I added when I jailbroke was put into iOS 5. Is there any reason to do it anymore?
Plenty, and there are new jailbreaks options on ios5 just check before you upgrade and save your blob.
I'm kind of sad now. Everything I added when I jailbroke was put into iOS 5. Is there any reason to do it anymore?
If they've added everything, then just take it for what it's worth and run unjailbroken. There's stuff that's still good like theming and such, but that doesn't interest everyone.
I wonder if there is a decent tool that could back-up your Cydia stuff, or that it makes a list of what you have
pkg backup tried it once, lagged when it retrieved my list. In the end i just screenshotted my sources and tweaks. i don't recommend it as you might be on a new fw and if you restore from it, some may be uncompatible and cause problems Manually screenshotting the tweaks and sources and downloading them one by one is the safest bet.
I'm kind of sad now. Everything I added when I jailbroke was put into iOS 5. Is there any reason to do it anymore?
The only reason I kept jailbreaking my iphone 3G was because I wanted multitasking, wallpapers. Now I have an iPhone 4S, so that's not necessary anymore. I still want it jailbroken for future purposes.
So once the untethered iOS 5 JB is out, how do I update from my existing iOS version without losing all my jailbreak apps?
Get AptBackup. It creates a list of everything installed in Cydia. When you re JB, just get AptBackup again and this time hit Restore. It will queue and download everything. The file is saved and restored in backups, so if you try to "start fresh" without restoring from your backup, you will have to do it manually.

Okay, so the iPhone 3G I have is in recovery mode (this screen) I've tried booting it out using Redsn0w but it's telling me to do the thing where you hold the power button and the home button at the same time, however this doesn't work at all as all it does is just turn my phone off. Please, seriously I need some help with this.
